Your 15 minutes are up!

Working in the grocery store as a cashier as I do, I am forced to have every single gossip rag in my face every night, and later on in the evening I peruse some of them. Some of the indivuduals that are featured in these publications absolutely make me shake my head. So I thought I would start this thread to see who you all would like to see their 15 minutes of fame come to an end. And if some of you can think of people from the past that had their time in the spotlight and quickly faded out, please feel free to post about that too!. Ok I'll go first with my wish for whom I want to dissapear immideately. drumroll please..............................................................

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag!

Hawkeye 08-06-2010 01:40 AM

You know perusing through magazines where you work is usually considered a form of stealing.

Sorry, most Ledgies ignore the point of a thread to point out grammar. Since I'm no English major and my prefession is also to work in a store, it pisses me off when employees read magazines on the job, especially if not paid for.

Bethenny Frankel. Yeah, she's got a snarky tongue and she's occasionally clever, but her utter lack of humility and her grandiose sense of self really turn me off. Oh, and her "skinny" books are utter garbage that are nothing but incubators for eating disorders and other neuroses bordering on anorexia. She herself is a skeleton with two ginormous fake pontoons bolted onto her chest; why would anyone want to look like that? Her face, despite her wide jawbone, has the tell-tale signs of wasting syndrome; healthy people under the age of 40 do not get that "raisin face" naturally.

Wha.... huh? If you're off the clock, why is that any different from any other shopper perusing through magazines at a bookstore? Are they stealing too?

Hawkeye 08-06-2010 02:04 AM

I was assuming he was on the clock.

So, assuming that he was, is that still considered stealing? So if I am at work and I take a short personal phone call, is that also considered stealing? I think every work environment needs to have some tolerance, even small, of these kinds of distractions. People are not robots that work nonstop until the clock runs out.

Well your phone call is not a product for sale. Really when you think about it browsing through a magazine is like taking a bite of an apple and putting it back on the shelf.

And yea I guess if we're getting REAL nitpicky your phone call could be considered stealing time

So that means all of these people swilling mocha chai lattes at Barnes and Noble while perusing through books and magazines are also stealing. I think mass arrests should commence apace!

this is insanity.

ButterCookie 08-06-2010 03:36 AM

We don't sell magazines but the other girls bring those rags into the canteen. It's either that or 20p newspaper. So, I have two.

Taylor Momsen and Justin Bieber

And the entire twilight cast. They can just fall into a black hole.

Ok, I understand where you're coming from so I'll explain further. I dont sit there for hours on end lookat every single written word in these mags, but after working very hard all night doing various front end cleaning jobs and also working the service counter the last hour of the night is usually very slow, and that is when, if I have the time, I take a few minutes to read some of the more absurd stories.:)

bite your tongue:eek:, i LOVE bethenny!!!~ jill zarin should make the list~ her book should have been titled 'secrets of a jewish asshole', not ' secrets of a jewish mother', unless she wanted to add f&cker behind it:lol:~

heidi & spencer i agree, they are crazy trash~

also lilo, i am so sick of hearing about lindsey hohan~

jannieC 08-06-2010 05:47 AM

Pretty much any of the reality TV people. I've never seen a Real Housewives episode, but these women bug me. Oh and definitely The Jersey Shore folks- unbelievable!

Amlyn 08-06-2010 05:49 AM

Anyone from The Bachelor/The Bachelorette. Really. Going on a dating show on tv shouldn't make you an instant celebrity. I don't recall hours and hours of entertainment footage or photo spreads for anyone who was on Love Connection back in the 80s.

Kate Gosselin - shocker...she changes her hairstyle!!!

Brangelina - If i had a dollar for each time they were splittling up or if Angelina was hiding a baby bump, I'd be living one helluva life.

But having said that, I'd be a hypocrite to say that i don't catch up on my "fluff" as one of my friends calls it, when i'm at a salon or airport or something.

I second Justin Bieber and Twilight.

GypsySorcerer 08-06-2010 08:13 AM

The Kardashians. I don't care about keeping up with them. Any of them.

The Gosselins.

The Twilight poeple.

The Freaking Jonas Brothers.

I totally agree about the Kardashians! If they disappeared from all media, I wouldn't mind at all!!

GODDESS6 08-06-2010 08:42 AM

i watch 'keeping up w/ the kardashians' simply because bruce jenner is my cousin~ i don't watch that 'khloe & kourtney' show tho~

I keep thinking the Kardashians are going to be the villains in the next Star Trek movie.

vivfox 08-06-2010 09:58 AM

It used to be Nicole Ritchie, but as soon as she got pregnant I no longer had to look at her crystal meth addicted body. Now they just show cute pics of her, her hot hubby and the kid.

I loathe all pics of John and Kate. He annoys me way more than her though.

Spencer and Heidi must die.

Bethany Frankel looks like a dried up prune.

I don't give a f%ck about Britney Spears and her latest boyfriend.

Hey Hawkeye-when I am waiting in a long line at Walmart you can be sure to catch me browsing through an entire issue of one of these rags and then placing it where it doesn't belong right before I get to the cashier. I secretly wonder if one day a cashier is gonna make me buy the mag, knowing full well I have already read it. Perhaps one day that clerk will be you. If so I will be sure to stand in the line of only female cashiers from now on.

chiliD 08-06-2010 10:34 AM

Without a doubt Kate Gosselin. Somebody put her out of our misery.

Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, entire Fox News Network

EDIT:

Oh...and MEG WHITMAN. Another f-ing lying crook trying to buy California's Governorship.

KarmaContestant 08-06-2010 10:45 AM

I don't read the trash rags, but the covers are entertaining at times.

What really makes me laugh are the tabloids and the seemingly never-ending "Obama gay bath-house scandal" stories.

did you catch the DC wives?, it's too early too tell if i like any of them, there are no lookers like ea bunch of wives seems to have, & that skinny obama party crashing chick, she's something else~ but damn it, i'll be there for it all!!!:]~

i gotta add i agree on the kate & jon thing w/ you guys, those 2 drive me up a wall to no end & i feel bad for their kids~

I watched and wasn't too impressed. Then again I said that with probably every other franchise...maybe only meant it for Atlanta.

Those DC ladies...hmm...well, they really appear to be social climbers. I can't believe they were trying to one-up one another with their list of political friends. I think I laughed most at the one that had a biometric entry to her closet so her older teen and adult daughter stay out! Seriously...who does that???

Oh and that one skinny blond...the one who ended up in the scandal at the White House...she's my pick for the Danielle of that series!

No I haven't caught DC yet, but I'm sure it will be replayed a gazillion times during the week. But for some reason I'm not getting too excited about it- after the unbelievable drama on NJ, I think anything else will look boring by comparison.

Yeah, I kinda hate that missing link Theresa G. To help pay down her debt, maybe she should do some of those caveman Geico commercials.

I definitely agree with all of these. Plus-

Glen Beck- I loathe that piece of weasel sh*t.
Rachael Ray
Joy Behar
Elisabeth Hasselbeck
Tiger Woods

So many...

I could name (Celebs, athletes, spokepersons and political idiots of both parties - "All politicians should serve two terms-One in office and one in prison"), but I don't have the time to type up their names.

Anybody who's even remotely associated with a reality show on the Bravo Network; as well as their neighbors, their dogs, their dog's fleas and the tiny little whatever's living on those fleas. The guys who do their landscaping. The pool boys.
The plumbers, furnance repair people, electricians, and even their real-estate appraisers. And anybody who drove by their house anytime withing the past fifty-seven years.

The baby is so tiny. And she was immediately back to normal weight seemingly within days of her pregnancy.
