Strangest things fans have given Stevie
What's the strangest thing you've seen a fan give Stevie or throw up on the stage at her?
I haven't been to any concerts myself, but I've seen various filmed shows, and here are a few funny things I've come across: Themselves. Enthusiastic fans jump the stage, hug Stevie while she's in the middle of a song, and then get dragged off by security. Just how much does this happen? Elaine. Someone seriously gave Stevie their kid during a show in Landover. Underwear? In an older post, I read a Ledgie commenting that they saw what might have been a t-shirt, but looked like tighty whiteys (hopefully clean) thrown up at Stevie. Do you think she's gotten any bras from swooning ladies? :D |
I vaguely remember a story about a fan throwing a bracelet up on stage, which later turned out to be extremely valuable.
Also, a fan jumped onstage in Dublin in 2009 and possibly 2003 too. |
I once heard a story of, when she was with the Mac, that someone threw 30 stuffed penguins onto the stage.
|
I'll bet bra's have gone up. About 3 went on stage at a Florence and the Machine concert I was at  I mean wtf? She gave them to the band.
On Red Rocks someone gives her a huge picture frame  |
i have given stevie flowers, a penguin & a pale pink shawl that she wore during one song on the 'rockalittle' tour~ i about died~
i remember a bracelet story too, but where a fan noticed that stevie bracelet was about to fall off & was able to point that out to stevie~ a grateful stevie proceeded to take off the bracelet & give it to the fan~ another fan snatched the bracelet & went to run off w/ it~ stevie saw it & stopped the song & told the stealer to return the bracelet to the fan she gave it to~ i always loved that story~ |

That second vid is hysterical. The guy jumps up on stage, touches Lindsey, then Stevie, then Lindsey again...it's like he's trying to see if they're real. LOL. He doesn't know what else to do. Notice when security drags him off stage, he puts both arms out in exasperation as if to say, "but I had to..." Too funny!
I remember on Stevie's TISL tour in 2001, someone gave her a mechanical Groundhog, just like the one from "Caddyshack". She had mentioned on Letterman a few months earlier that it was one of the few movies that could cheer her up. So a fan made one. She took it from him, held it up to show the audience and had a HUGE smile on her face. I bet it's one of her favorite gifts. |

On the TISL tour stop in Denver, some guy jumped up on the stage and Don Boyette did a brilliant body check on the guy. Mama just kept on singing. Also it was so hot during that show that the power blew out for a little bit.
|
Stevie says at the end of the song, She thought she felt a ghost at her side. She said the guy was a soft touch...........But Look What the Hell he did to Lindsey!!!! He really grabbed at him:distress: (starts about 4:30) |
John didn't even look up :lol:

(She says, like she'd ever let go of Lindsey if she got to grab at him :p) |

I love how they react! None of them miss a beat. Lindsey and Stevie just sort of glance at him, and John and Mick don't seem to notice anything at all. |

I bet they're used to it at this stage. Most fans who get onstage are pretty harmless and just stand there looking a bit lost ("Right, I'm on the stage ... now what?") And their security people seem to move in really fast -- in Dublin, the girl who jumped up didn't get within a foot of Stevie. |

That was in San Diego. I was in the front row at the show and I remember it felt like forever he was on stage (weird because after watching the video it was so quick). Stevie handled it very well. |
If I ever jumped on stage (which I would not unless personally asked to do so by Stevie) I'd do it while she wasn't singing and go straight for those lips. I'd be so quick that I'd get a kiss in before security rushed me off and live the rest of my life being able to say "I kissed Stevie Nicks on the lips".

I've always wondered what happens to the ones who get up on stage and hug Stevie, etc. I get the impression that they're rather enthusiastically shown the door and that they have specific travel alternatives literally pointed out to them; for example left on a slant away from the stadium, or right on a slant away from the stadium, or on a direct line away from the stadium. (If you look closely for it, there's a "common thread" running through those three options. ;) ) But I get the impression that legally, they would be within their rights to press charges. Believe it or not, I believe the purchase of a ticket is considered to be a legal contract that has been "implicitly agreed to by both parties," and I'm sure they have all SORTS of things included in the fine print, such as not bothering other fans, not going up on-stage etc. In other words, they can throw their asses in the slammer or sue them if they so choose. I've always wondered what actually happens. Personally I think unless any physical harm is done, they just toss'em out the door and make sure that they bounce twice.
P.S. - Apologies if this was posted already - I looked through and didn't see it, but might have missed it - anyway, I heard that once during the Edge Walk, a fan cut Stevie's hair with a pair of scissors. I mean like, a huge chunk of it. She was - uhm - understandably demonstrative about her disapproval of this. Also, if you watch the Edge Walk in the Live at Red Rocks concert video, one fan is literally like, JAMMING a flower in Stevie's nose. She kept smiling and I felt that she was unbelievably patient about it. I don't feel that things got "out of hand" during that specific concert but I felt several minor "incidents" there show perfectly how fans sometimes get a wee bit excited during it. Stevie seems perfectly calm, not nervous at all, but I bet the security guy was paying REAL close attention at certain points. |

P.S. II - Look at McVie, also - - He looks up and sees the guy, and immediately looks to his right to see whether - or not - the security guard is on his way. Rule Number 1.)a.) of Fleetwood Mac, of course, is "John plays bass." Rule 1.)b.) of course, is "Never NEVER get John McVie angry." ;) Can't help but wonder if that guy was better-off having Security be the one who escorted him back off the stage. |
I had first row seats to Stevie's Trouble in Shangrila show in Portland, OR (city of roses). Right after she finished a song (I can't recall which one), a guy came out of nowhere carrying a massive arrangement of roses and just lopped them up onto the stage. They were so heavy that they landed with an audible thud, about two feet from Stevie. She was so gracious about it and appeared unfazed. She said "thank you," and then in a funny manner, held her hands up in front of her head as if to protect herself. It got a huge laugh from the audience. I love those impromtu Stevie moments.

This was a little embarrassing & kinda funny, Unleashed tour in Brisbane, while I was standing up the front to the left of Stevie, just before their encore a Lady in her 60's tapped me on the shoulder & asked if I would give Stevie these flowers, a 1/2 doz red roses wrapped in now crinkled cellophane paper which looked like they were squeezed to death & run over by a bus. I looked at the flowers & thought I can't give these to Stevie they were in such a bad state, but at the same time I thought it would be awesome to give them to her anyway. So right at the end , when she FINALLY stopped ignoring me lol:thumbsup: she walked over bent down & graciously excepted them, smiled, said thank you, then as she stood up the crowd in the middle section began to cheer really loud. Apparently as I found out later these poor red roses had been passed from person to person, which covered a large distance before reaching the front of the stage. I'm sure she figured that they traveled a long way before reaching her.. So they were the one and only bunch of flowers she received from the first show in Brisbane.. lol :D

I used to find videos like those posted amusing, but the more I thought about it, the less amusing it became. Now, the idea of fans jumping on stage without invitation - for ANY artist, not just Stevie or the Mac - just really bothers me. I just do not think that is okay under any circumstances, whether you just want to be able to say you did it or you want a hug or you want to shoot your favorite artist because the moon told you to.
Stevie & Company may look cool, calm and collected (ha! reference joke!) when this happens, and even crack a joke or two after the stage jumper is dragged away, but you know they have to be nervous, especially if the jumper gets close enough to touch them before security can get there - they don't know what that jumper is going to do, and I am sure they are all well acquainted with crazy fans and the things they have done to different artists in the past. And I am sure they are also well acquainted with the fact that if that jumper is really intent on hurting someone, they'll probably be able to do it before security can stop it. I don't know how many of you are familiar with what happened to Dimebag Darrell Abbott, but some psycho asshole walked out on stage during a Damageplan show and shot Dime in the head before anyone could react. When one of Damageplan's security dudes tried to tackle the shooter, he was also shot and killed, as were two others (including an audience member that was trying to perform CPR on Dime), and a further 7 were wounded. The guy got off something like 15 shots before a cop took him out. Obviously, this isn't COMMON behavior among stage jumpers, and it takes someone that is definitely f*cked in the head to do something like that, but the possibility is there. But even if the intent is just to get a hug, that's still wrong. You'd be horrified if a random stranger ran up to you in your workplace or out on the street and just hugged you or tried to kiss you without permission, right? During the first Mayhem Fest a couple years ago, I was leaning on the security rail near the side of the stage, watching the set for a band called Hemlock. When the set was over, the singer hopped down and came over to say hi to me for some reason, and as we were chatting, a small group of other folks noticed and gathered around. One girl shoved in next to me, and presented her cheek to the singer, asking for a kiss. He sort of shrugged and leaned over the fence to do it, but at the last second, she whipped her head around and laid one on him, full on the lips. He backed up quickly, and she giggled, immediately turning to her friends for praise, like, "Look what I did! Aren't I cool!" Dude didn't spaz, but you could tell by the look on his face that he was definitely not anywhere near as amused as she was by this. And during the Edge Walk at a show I was at in Reading, the girl right next to me kept yammering on about how she wished she could kiss Stevie when Stevie got to us. I ignored her, but when Stevie came over and reached to touch the girl's hand, the girl grabbed her by the wrist and YANKED down, trying to pull Stevie close enough to kiss her even if it meant potentially yanking Stevie right off the stage. Stevie tried to pull back, but the girl pulled harder, and since I was standing right there, I could see the look on Stevie's face - she was NOT HAPPY, and yes, she looked a bit scared, too. She didn't yell or freak out, just calmly kept saying, "No, no, no" to the girl, but I yelled at the girl on Stevie's behalf, lol - "Let GO of her!" When stuff like that happens to non-celebrities, we call that sexual harassment or even assault, regardless of the intent. The victim's fame doesn't cancel that out - we have no more right to just hug or kiss Stevie or Lindsey without permission than we do anyone else, even if we've "loved" them since the day Rumours was released on vinyl. In both of the above instances (as on the Beautiful Child video and the others), the famous folk in question did not react by freaking out, but I think that's more to do with trying to keep a situation from potentially escalating if it doesn't have to. And speaking of the Beautiful Child jumper, dude is damned lucky Lindsey and/or John aren't Keith Richards, because then he'd have gotten a guitar to the head for his troubles. So, sorry to cut in here and be such a big ray of sunshine like that, but I wouldn't be me if I didn't say all that. Please don't jump on stage or touch someone without permission. At the very least, it's incredibly disrespectful, and at the very worst, it's downright dangerous. And I'm not saying you can't ever hug your favorite musician (or actor, actress, author, barista at the local Starbucks what makes the best ever latte, or whatever) when presented with the opportunity, but do them the courtesy of asking first and respect their boundaries in the process - I've done that and it works out just fine. :wavey: |

The Snoopy that first comes to mind is one she gets at the end of the Edge on the HBO special - http://www.metacafe.com/watch/272764..._of_seventeen/ - I think she's gotten other Snoopys, too, though. She also got a huge unicorn during the Mirage concert. |

I agree with you. Can you imagine if everyone who bought a ticket felt the cost of a ticket entitled to jump the stage? Remember that "don't taze me bro!" dude? I say BUZZ 'em if they jump the stage. You can't trust random people's behavior like that. |
I gave Stevie a mini top hat during her TISL stop in Portland...she probably thought, "WTH am I going to do with this?"

How about this. At Stevies Boston stop on the TISL tour, the lady next to me gave her a TIFFANY LAMP. After Edge of Seventeen she yelled "thank you for the lamp!" Sheryl Crow later mentioned the gift on the Rosie O Donnell show when asked about the gifts her fans give her.
