Do I detect a hidden message in The Chain?
I bet you guys have already heard this one before, but I heard once (both in writing and for myself) that, at the beginning of The Chain, you can hear a thud and someone whispering "F**k" right before the song begins. Now since this is true, I have a few lingering question. What had happened? Who was the person responsible for dropping the F-bomb?
|
I don't remember what the reason was, but it's Lindsey swearing.

This cracks me up! His "agressive sounding vocal"! |
I'm not sure about a message in The Chain.
But if you play Rumours backwards everyone gets back together and is very happy. |
Yeah, I don't know about a hidden message, but the f bomb is definitely there!

Stevie is the most adorable person to ever walk the planet earth.

So, it was Lindsey swearing. I thought the voice sounded a bit deep and that it was a techie (hell, one was responsible for the random knocking door in Beat It cause he didn't realize they were recording), but then again, I could see him doing it. Thanks guys! |

Another hidden message I know of (but never heard) on the Motley Crue song Shout at the Devil, where Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx try and chant "Jesus is Satan" as an underdub. Has anyone evr heard that one? |
Talking about hidden messages, you can have a lot of fun listening to Stevie's songs backwards.

There's another spot on the album where something that wasn't meant to be part of the track was kept for aesthetic reasons: Christine's musical signal to the control room on "Oh Daddy." She briefly staccatos her Fender Rhodes at the end, effectively telling the engineers "OK, we're done." But the band liked the effect of it, so they kept it on the track. Rolling Stone noted a similar thing in its Mirage review: Lindsey yells YEAH or something during "Empire State." |

As for other FM snafus, I recall hearing Bucky say "Yah" or something during part of Monday Morning. |

I'll put it in audacity and play it backwards when I can be bothered.
I know that Deborah Harry's track Jen Jen has her speaking when played backwards intentionally. |
Were the car horns in Sugar Daddy intentional? I also remember someone saying that there was a phone ringing at the end of Honey Hi, but I haven't heard it.
|
I'm sure I heard Christine laugh at the end of Sugar Daddy, too. I heard it on the cassette tape and remember my heart almost exploding.
|
She does laugh! ... Probably at your dorky heart exploding. ;)
|
Ha! Probably :o

Going OT, but another snafu you hear in a lot of Led Zeppelin tunes is the sound of Bonzo's bass drum pedal squeaking throughout. And I dunno how to describe it, but, even though I dislike the Doors greatly (I do have a few tunes of theirs I like though0, I think someone says "It's comin' atcha" right before the music starts on Hello I Love You. |

Probably just the mind and ears playing tricks but interesting nonetheless... :) I'd forgotton the Nazi one... I can't remember the one I found of Stevie's that when played backwards she says something about (and I'm trying to recall this from 10-12 years ago when we were discussing this on the old newsgroup) "we do Skippy, you can go right now". Which of course makes absolutely no sense. |

There is also a weirdie noise at the beginning of "Isn't It Midnight" on my 4CD Chain box set. I can't tell who it is, but it's someone making a dorky "Nnnnnyahhh!" sound.
