wildheart048 07-07-2010 02:46 AM

Done! and great idea, may I just say...:wavey:

Christopher 07-07-2010 03:39 PM

I second that! Since Stevie has so far shun the internet (to her disadvantage), the least we can do is try building momentum using popular social media outlets to get some more light shed on her next endeavor. I know Stevie's fans can cause more blitz than this...so lets all jump aboard!

Well since a contributing editor of the Rolling Stone tweeted bout his visit to the studio and of how blown away he was I guess it seems likely.. Plus the fact she's an enduring artist going into soon her 30th year in solo music..

My thoughts exactly. I'm as big of a Stevie fan as anyone, but I just can't logically hit the "like" button on Facebook for this one :(. Perhaps AFTER her new album is released... which will likely be in 2045 .

The facebook like button does not require logic. :)

And hey, as long as somebody at rolling stones likes you...you can get in the magazine.

I'm not one of those people who mindlessly hits the like button for 10,000 completely inane things... it's just not my thing. My family members who are in their teens "like" or become a fan of like 12 random, pointless things a day. I'm nearly 30... I'm a bit more choosey, and when I hit "like," it actually means something... at least to those who know me.

Once Stevie releases something new, it'd make much more sense to start a page like this... and would likely have a bigger sway on a magazine IMO. I personally think it's smarter to do things like this when they'll have a bigger impact. Just my two cents :D.

Christopher 07-08-2010 11:21 AM

The way I see this campaign, is a slow building arc for when Stevie does release her most critically acclaimed & artistic statement of her entire solo recording career!!!(hey, might as well dream BIG!). So the goal is to get her featured on the cover of Rolling Stone around the time her new record drops which most likely will be 5 to 10 months from now. Hitting the "like" button is a small gesture towards possibly showing people (Rolling Stone, music industry press) that we are here and still very interested & awaiting what Stevie has yet to say with her music.

Exactly. I am actually one of the admins for this FB page campaign and we need to start now for when the album drops and all the PR starts. One small gesture to show the world and Rolling Stone that Stevie still is the Queen of Rock and Roll and has a legendary career and influences a lot of female new artists.

Plus it seems with Dave Stewart at the helm of creating buzz surrounding this project, it could actually go somewhere. I say take the 5 seconds it takes to go to the page and hit the "like" button. We all gotta start somewhere in promoting Stevie. Sometimes the best things happen due to a lot of people getting together as one. I know, sounds deep and cheesy, but so true at times.

Anyway, any support anyone gives towards this project is greatly appreciated.

I think this is all going to get confused and we'll wind up with Betty White on the cover of Rolling Stone.
But it's good RS was in the studio this month with Stevie and Dave, who knows! It's been a long time, I think it would be great!

Well put Sandy... Like a Street Team or whatever they call those grassroots type of efforts.

Phoenixgypsy 07-11-2010 08:52 AM

Instead of the usual term "Street team"....wouldn't we be Stevie's "Street Angels Team"? I "liked" on facebook!

TrueFaith77 07-11-2010 09:33 AM

I think we should try to get stevie to trend on twitter

Macfanforever 07-11-2010 04:41 PM

I would love to see our Stevie on RS cover,Maybe working with Dave
,He will talk her into keeping up with the Twitter thing,we know she's not a computer buff like we are,I'm glad to see Dave is into the Twitter thing.I dont know when the deadline for this is over ,but we could promote this at her concerts in august by spreading the word and making banners for your cars.I have no problem hanging them in my car in the parkinglot.

I really like this idea. Promote the RS campaign at the concert with a little blurb about it being on FB.

BTFLCHLD 09-22-2010 05:40 PM

sniff...i want momma on the cover of rolling stone.

SapphireSister 09-22-2010 06:13 PM

^^ And that video my friend, is nothing short of fabulous. You rock!

On another note, I don't mean to be Debbie Downer but the only way I see Stevie making it on the cover of RS any time soon is if this new album blows up and is larger than life and quite frankly I don't see that happening. The only other option is if (holding my breath) she God forbid flies back to the angels and I sure as heck don't want that to be the reason.

I don't know, I thought the possibility may be slim, but with this being her first album in ten years and if it is as amazing as everyone is saying, it may be a big deal. Plus, they had the cast of True Blood and Mad Men on it, which are big things I suppose, but not music related at all. I think with 26 issues a year and the fact that she is Stevie Nicks, she can make it on. The only thing is, we need people on the inside like David Wild to push it RS to do it and people on Stevie's team fighting to get it.

I see what your saying but the point is that although the casts of True Blood and Mad Men have been on the covers (even though they are not music related) they are still relevant TODAY. Stevie would have to put out something that not only appeals to us older folks but has some kind of effect on the younger generation and breaks all age barriers. Does that make sense? One could argue that many female artists would not be where they are today if it hadn't been for women like Stevie but that's just not enough. Maybe if they did a women of rock and roll special issue...

Are you calling me old?! I know what you mean, but it just seems like they aren't always looking for the HOTTEST musician out there at the time to slap on the cover. Last December they had Them Crooked Vultures on there, who were not and still are not a popular band. Their most well known member is David Grohl, and the Foo Fighters haven't been popular in a few years. Roger Waters is on the current cover. I just think Stevie Nicks is a pretty well known name, and with recent artists citing her as an influence, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Florence Welsh, Alicia Keys, John Mayer, and so on, she is still relevant. She isn't very popular amongst the younger generation today, but I think if her album is really amazing, Rolling Stone would be willing to put her on the cover.

I totally agree with that but the album would have to be stellar in order for her to make the cover and strangely enough, they won't be consulting with us Ledgies in regards to how good or bad we think the album is because we are not biased twards Stevie at all. :sorry:

Rolling Stone just gave me another reason to talk to Stevie Nicks. I talked to her a lot in high school, but now sometimes she talks back.

Interesting. I wonder if it's a piece on the possible 2011 FM tour that Azoff (Live Nation) keeps dropping hints about in the press. Do you really think it would be possible for Stevie to release a solo album early next year and then tour with FM as well? What are we to make of this?

Lee 10-05-2010 10:38 AM

Yes!

Well, if I was on Facebook, I'd sign up to get her on RS's cover. Sure, why not? I don't really read RS, but if they did a story on her & put her on the cover, I would run out & get a copy.

Lee :)

Idk. Stevie said something about 2011 being her year and all about her solo album, so I don't think she would hit the road with them. And I think Azoff is a little off his rocker. He was also saying other major ticket sellers next year were going to be Christina Aguilera and Avril Lavigne. Didn't Christina cancel her tour this year because of such dismal record sales? And Avril? What the hell has she done lately?
