LAKERS v Celtics Game 7!

Who you got? Lakers by 10

Traffic was just horrible getting home today and I left early..and so did everyone else. Everybody rushing to wherever to watch this epic struggle.

LukeA 06-17-2010 08:01 PM

Its going to be Celtics by <4 pts or Lakers by double digits. Wouldn't be surprised either way.

Watched Lakers/Celts '84 Game 7 earlier today- hope this game is even half as classic as that one! :blob2:

Musicman408 06-17-2010 08:13 PM

Rooting for the Celtics, no doubt!!

CreepingDeath 06-17-2010 08:56 PM

I don't like either team, but I would root for satan himself before the Lakers.

ILoveFM 06-17-2010 09:03 PM

I LOVE THE LAKERS!! And I Hate hate hate hate The Celtics, so I hope they lose* by at least 20.

JWS 06-17-2010 10:51 PM

Be LA! Be LA! Be LA!

ILoveFM 06-17-2010 10:54 PM

Yay!!! Haha Boston, how does it taste? LAKERS REPEAT :D I'm so happy!

LukeA 06-17-2010 11:02 PM

Well, at least Boston covered?

What a terrible game by both teams. This whole series has been disappointing. A few good quarters, but not a single well-played game.

JWS 06-17-2010 11:23 PM

Dr. Buss' speach was lame and made no sense. I think he's turned into a Hugh Hefner.

Street_Dreamer 06-17-2010 11:25 PM

The Lakers winning is great. Beating Boston in the process makes it all the more sweeter.

Eh, it was better than when Jerry's idiot trust-fund son (or grandson) accepted the trophy on his behalf last year.

iamnotafraid 06-18-2010 12:12 AM

rats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

carrie721 06-18-2010 04:28 AM

^ seriously.

f*ck the lakers and f*ck lakers fans for trashing the city after the game.

what a bunch of idiots.

JWS 06-18-2010 10:39 AM

Once again Lakers fans show their true class after the dramatic win over the Celtics. There was a mini riot after the game at LA Live across from Staples Center. Per the LA Times "Crowds hurl bottles, broke windows, jump on vehicles after Lakers' victory. One person is beaten". Several fires were started and a taxi was engulfed in flames. Dozens were arrested by police

Gosh, what would have happened if the Lakers had lost! I just don't get it. Fans celebrate a big victory by destroying property and being a public nuisance.

LukeA 06-18-2010 10:49 AM

I think Mexico upsetting France earlier in the day may have played a small part in ratcheting up the "festivities".

GODDESS6 06-18-2010 12:05 PM

i loathe the lakers & kobe:p~

i dunno. they did the same sh*t last year. it's just a bunch of opportunistic thugs looking for an excuse to trash public and private property.

Boston fans would have done the same thing, only they would have been more drunk, belligerant and annoying. Fans of teams in almost every city do the same thing, if not worse. Imagine what would happen if the Cubs ever won the World Series.

maybe i'm crazy, but crippling all of downtown (and east LA! and hollywood!), marching down the 10 freeway, setting cars on fire, and shutting down an entire light rail line seems extreme to me.

While there's nothing more insufferable than a bunch of drunken Masshole braggadocios, they tend to channel such newfound validation by beating the sh*t out of other people, not property. Boston '08 had its moments, but fell short of what happened in LA last night... and isn't even in the same stratosphere as LA '00. Suffice it to say, LA has the rioting thing pretty down pat.

Nah. Cubs fans aren't all that passionate, believe it or not. Most self-professed "diehard Cubbie fans" are yuppies who wear the jersey, drink their 4-5 Old Styles and do everything but watch the game. That said, its pretty easy to keep Wrigleyville under control- its very self contained (Fall '03 proved this)

It's a wonder somebody wasn't killed. These rioters weren't fans that attended the game, but hooligans coming in to the area set out to cause trouble. Dozens of cars had the windows smashed...they tried to turn over a taxi...rocks thrown at police in riot gear. If the police had shot one or two, maybe they'll start to get the message, but I doubt it.

As a result, Monday's victory parade will be it. No rally at the Coliseum like last year.

Musicman408 06-18-2010 08:22 PM

Celtics had it and blew it! What a shame!

The Celtics never should have been there in the first place. The expected matchup was with Cleveland. I believe the Cavs would have beaten the Lakers in 6 games.

How do you figure? The Cavs were expected to roll through Orlando last year, and we know how that turned out. The supporting cast was/is terrible.

I think it will be subdued compared to last year's Coliseum rally that resulted in many injuries and arrests. At least the weather is cooler. Last year 500,000 - 1,000,000 waited for hours along the parade route in sun and high heat.

They were right to cancel the Coliseum rally. It would just mean more injuries to people trying to climb over fences to get in after it's already jammed just to hear more silly speeches about how great are the LA fans...and how the Lakers couldn't have won without the fans...blah, blah, blah. Most of the people along the parade route have never stepped foot into Staples Center

Also, last year's celebrations cost the city $2 million in added police/security costs. This year I read they're making the Lakers pay...hence the cut backs.

LukeA 06-19-2010 08:00 PM

GO LAKERS!

JWS 06-19-2010 08:33 PM

That's just sickening.:mad: It's worse than I thought. That vehicle belonged to some poor guy jsut trying to eek out a living as a taxi driver....and these thugs took his livelihood away. For what? Because the Lakers won the championship? The police should have moved in and just shot a few...right in the head. These are animals. Forget arrest and trial.

JWS 06-21-2010 07:59 PM

The Victory Parade was this morning. An estimated one million people (as reported on KSPN) lined Figueroa from Staples down about 25 blocks to USC. Otherwise, kind of a dud. No big congratulartory speeches...even Phil Jackson was a no-show. Huge police presence. Big traffic jam. No cars set on fire. I guess it was just too early for the drunks.

BTFLCHLD 06-21-2010 08:40 PM

hmmm...AEG pays $10,000 to taxidriver.

perhaps it pays to get an asskicking just outside staples.

Nice jesture, but that won't pay for a new vehicle. Hopefully, he has adequate insurance. Nonetheless, he is out of business for awhile.
