Agree or disagree

I've played this little game in my Metallica and Led Zeppelin groups on Facebook and I thought I'd bring it to here. Basically, someone makes a statement about the band at hand, the next person say whether or not they agree with it, and then post a new statement. Here's an example:

Person A: John Bonham is a way better drummer than Phil Collins

Person B: Agree
Fade to Black is the best song on Ride the Lightning

And so on. I'll start us off.

Fleetwood Mac sounds better live than in the studio

Sleepless-Child 05-28-2010 09:38 AM

And what if you just can't answer that? ha.

Hi MissLadyLoki,

Ooh, that's not an easy question for me to answer, but...I'll go with I agree. Rhiannon on Fleetwood Mac Live (1980) is my favorite version of the song...when I see FMac in concert and The Chain begins, the adrenalin is unbelievable...and when Lindsey plays ISA in concert, that's magic! :D

Disagree (they just sound different, which I love - it'd be less interesting to see a live show where they sounded exactly the same with exactly the same sounding instrumentation).
"You And I, Pt. I" should've been on TITN instead of "You And I, Pt. II".

Agree. I always found it a bit strange that there was a Part II on there, and I always figured Part I was on Mirage or something.

The Rosebud version is the best version of Rhiannon around.

Yay ! I agree (even if I like the Midnight Special one, but it's similar...)

"Don't stop" is overrated.

Disagree. I love that song to pieces, but I personally find Dreams to be grossely overrated.

The best part of The Chain is John's bass part

Gypsy live doesn't match the magic on the recording.

Stevie Nicks can not manage to keep in time during a live duet

Disagree about Don't Stop being overrated.

Agree about John's bass part in The Chain :D

The Dance version of Tusk is the best recording?

DAMMIT ! Dreams is a great song

Agreed. God, I remember, once, I put the Dance, and my whole family danced to Tusk. It was a great shared Fleetwood Mac moment.

Crystal is better when Lindsey's singing it.

I'm not gonna lie, I never actually saw The Dance, but I can tell you that, out of all of the Mac's different video footage, the Tusk doc is my fave.

Agree. Stevie is a good singer and all, but it's the kinda song that works best with Lindsey's voice (both Buckingham Nicks and White Album versions).

Christine's best songs are on Tango in the Night (Everywhere, Little Lies, etc.)

Partly agree, partly disagree. She was on FIRE in 1987 but there's absolute diamonds throughout her entire career.

Neither Stevie or Chris should ever have been allowed near hair crimpers. Or anyone, really.

Lol agree. Same goes for Mick and razors.

Of all of Stevie's looks over the years, she looked her best (and absolutely adorable) with that shaggy haircut around the White Album.

Well...I don't know. No, disagree, my favorite Stevie look was around Rumours, but, it's true, the White Album era was too cool. She was still...innocent :)

Let's try this one..."I'm so afraid" live becomes boring (:sorry:), and should be replaced by Tango in the Night.

Disagree partly. I'm So Afraid is a big part of why they put on such killer live shows, but yeah, I'd love to see Tango in the Night or maybe even some Buckingham Nicks performed live too.

Silver Springs is a very good song, but it never quite fits on Rumours.

Ah. well, I don't know, I never tried to replace I don't want to know by Silver Springs. I love Rumours the way it was released...but maybe I'd love it even more with Silver Springs. I don't know.

I think this thread is too cool.

Agree. it was too cool when i started it at this group way back when and it seems to be a hit here: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...4900257&ref=ts

Now, a new statement:

The Mac should have performed a no-longer-performed oldie like Sisters of the Moon or Blue Letter on last year's tour (but it was still a blast)

(I joined the group, I LOVE Led Zep')

Yes, yes YES ! I don't know if SOTM could work, but Blue Letter, definitely. (btw, I'm gonna stop answering, I'll wait that someone else answers :))

Anyway, here's a statement :
On the Unleashed Tour, Lindsey ruined one of his best songs : Never Going Back Again. The Say You will tour version was 10 times better.

Since no one else has come yet, I'll say agree in a way. I like it when someone changes up a song, but he didn't do it well there. Still dig that one from the Japan show where Mick and John are playing on it.

Of all of Lindsey's assets, his eyes are probably his best.

Partly agree. But that Rumours afro was friggen amazing

I can't think of another statement though

holidayroad 05-28-2010 02:09 PM

Agree or disagree............Lindsey should stop singing 'Go Your Own Way' live because, as much as I love him, the live vocal is getting absolutely cringe-worthy. It's bad when I feel bad for him when he sings it!!!!

The fro was amazing, made him look really "rock and roll"

I got a new statement: the "scar" (a song on an album that is not quite as strong as the other songs or doesn't quite belong, a prime example being Her Majesty on Abbey Road) on Tusk would have to be Not That Funny (but it kills live)

I like 'Not That Funny', live and on Tusk (but it Is better live). The scar on Tusk is 'Save Me a Place'. It's the only FM Lindsey song that I dislike.

NO ! I agree with you, it's painful, but to me, songs like Rhiannon and Go Your Own Way NEED to be played at every single Fleetwood Mac show...even if both sound terrible today
(I LOVE Not that Funny...and Save me a place )

Statement : Paper Doll is not that bad :D

holidayroad 05-28-2010 02:28 PM

Agree, I like Paper Doll..........but what do I know!!!

agree or disagree.......for the next Fleetwood Mac tour, Stevie and Lindsey should sing the complete Buckingham Nicks album....and no other songs.

tilthefirefades 05-28-2010 02:30 PM

They should! But I was listening to an interview, and Stevie said they did some of the songs from BN live?! She talked about how difficult it was to do Frozen Love, does anyone have this?!?

uh...disagree...sorta. They should play BN songs mixed in with the classics.

"Silver Girl" is actually a very strong piece of music from SYW:nod:

Can't say cause I dunno SYW. Sorry :distress:

As awesome as the acoustic Big Love is, they should start playing it in it's original form (like they did with Go Insane on the last tour, but I never got why Lindsey sits right when song finished at my show*), complete with Lindsey and Stevie doing the love grunts

Agree. I think she'd look good in some Chucks (hey, I'm around her height and I love mine), some jeans, and a little color in her outfits.

Mick needs to go back to doing those African drum solos during World Turning

For the sake of being pedantic, it was never Stevie who did the feminine "love grunts" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Lov...%29#Background. (I was so surprised when I read that!)

I knew it was Lindsey doing 'em, but I still think it'd be hilarious to see both of them doing it on stage, thrusting their hips suggestively while looking at each other.

New statement: A live performance of Not That Funny is both funnier (and more disturbing) than the drum solo Mick did where he "played" himself

I'm not sure it ever occurred to me that it might be Stevie. Doesn't sound like her at all.

I don't think I ever thought it was Lindsey either, but I remember Letterman used to make a lot of jokes about it being Stevie making those sounds at the time.

I tend to think Lindsey is doing everything. I thought he was the children's voices at the end of SYW before we learned otherwise.

Of course, I always knew that was him crowing on Peacekeeper.

Agreed!!!! Mick killed that drum solo on the "Tango" tour. Blew me away on that tour, but I would love to see him do more of a percussion/drum solo (no vest, that act is old) than what we got on this last tour (saw the videos on YouTube). I'd actually like to see him do a "drum battle" type thing with another percussionist on that song. I think it would be awesome!

New statement: John's bass line in "The Chain" is one of the most memorable in all of rock and roll history.
