report: Bret Michaels has Brain Hemorrhage...

http://www.tmz.com/2010/04/23/bret-m...in-hemorrhage/
Bret Michaels was rushed to the hospital late Thursday night after suffering a massive hemorrhage near his brain stem, this according to People.com.

Michaels is reportedly in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital. According to the report, Michaels was suffering from excruciating headaches earlier in the day.

According to the report, Michaels underwent several tests -- including CAT Scans and MRIs.

The report claims it was determined Michaels suffered from a "subarachnoid hemorrhage" -- bleeding at the base of his brain stem.

Earlier this month, Michaels was rushed to the hospital after experiencing stomach pains -- he ended up having his appendix removed.

:( That's pretty rough...

tilthefirefades 04-23-2010 05:05 PM

This is horrible :( he seems like a pretty decent guy. Stevie thought so at least.

Stevie's taste in men usually runs toward the douchbagy.

I heard about this. I hope he recovers.

Ghost_Tracker 04-23-2010 06:23 PM

I just heard about this. As many of you know, this is what happened to my Mom.

I don't want to be a pessimist here, but of course I've learned a lot about this in the last few years. They're calling it a "massive" hemorrhage - and it's in his brain stem so - well, this doesn't look good. At all.

:distress: Agreed. If anyone's interested, TMZ posted this pretty depressing update:

http://www.tmz.com/2010/04/23/brett-...id-hemorrhage/

The idea of a headline that puts odds on a man's life when he's in the hospital really doesn't sit well with me.

GODDESS6 04-23-2010 08:47 PM

bret's sister lives in omaha where i live~ he spends alot of time here when not touring & such~

i like poison & my thoughts & prayers are w/ him~

Ghost_Tracker 04-23-2010 09:05 PM

According to a report I just heard on the news,
Bret Michaels is awake and alert and answering
questions from the doctors.
I don't want to raise false hopes - but just the
same, that is considered to be a very good sign.
The next 48 hours are critical.

Musicman408 04-23-2010 09:17 PM

We'll pray for him.

The thought has crossed my mind if something like this could happen to Stevie because of the coke and whatnot.

Why i take every day a a blessing because i know there's a chance that tomorrow the one woman who has changed so much in my life and who i would give my life for, could be gone. A scary thought, but true.

:( I wonder if the wallop he took in june at the Tony's had anything to do with this...I thought I read somewhere that when there is a head injury one can suffer consequences such as this later on.

geez this is really sadnews.
I hope he recovers from this.

Yeah. I hate to say it but she's very much at risk. But - she's stopped the coke and presumably the smoking as well. And to all appearances she seems to be taking very good care of herself. So - - One may hope.

I would doubt it. An acute head injury could do it but very unlikely something from almost a year ago. A subarachnoid hemorrhage is almost always the result of a ruptured aneurysm. And one of the biggest causes of that is cocaine. The hypertension and increased pressure in the cererbral arteries caused by cocaine cause weakening in their walls, and an aneurysm forms, and the aneursym is prone to rupture. Of course people can live asymptomatically for years with an aneursym and never know it's there. If his blood pressure suddenly increased for some reason, it could have been enough to rupture it. Pretty poor prognosis a lot of the time. But I think since he's coherent now, that's a good sign.

By the way, I don't know anything about his history or if cocaine played a role in his past or current life. I'm just offering it as a common cause...of course there are multiple other factors that predispose someone to aneurysm formation. So I'm in no way accusing him of anything that I don't know.

It's a possibility...

since a head injury can cause intracranial pressure, which can lead to a SAH...So who knows?!

Reading the info about Bret and his subarachnoid hemorrhage somewhat frightens me since I have a tumor/cyst located in the arachnoid membrane on the right side (temple) of my (sometimes dead) brain. I am at risk for the same issue that Bret has suffered.

is it possible to have it operated on without risking your health?:distress:

It's possible...

if it gets worse, but as of now it has not grown more than it had since the previous MRI and with my weight loss (Dropped down to a current 240 lbs from 258 lbs) and somewhat improved health I am doing fine.

If it were to worsen a stent would inserted into the cyst.

Musicman408 04-24-2010 12:01 AM

I'm really hoping that Stevie has sought some medical advice or something along those lines since giving up cocaine, just to see is the damage has been reduced since, thus lowering her risk. Or is she still at pretty much the same high risk since she quit???

WildHeart69 04-24-2010 11:20 AM

just read on TMZ that he is stable and talking, but they need to watch him very closely for the next few days

gldstwmn 04-24-2010 01:01 PM

Sad news. My thoughts and prayers are with him.
