Stevie's New Album- 2010 : What Will Be On It?

Alright, so we're feeling pretty confident that Stevie is/ will be working on an album, and there is a decent chance that it could be released this year.

So, what do we think will be on it, in terms of some new material, and perhaps some old demos that haven't seen the light of day. I guess I would really like for it to be all new material, but I'm sure there will probably be an old demo or two on there. Wouldn't mind seeing "All The Beautiful Worlds", or "My Heart" on the thing!

What do you think?

holidayroad 04-21-2010 07:45 AM

I'd rather Stevie get back to work with Fleetwood Mac.....but 'I Call You Missing' would be a good song to now put on a solo album. Maybe she should just do the Rhiannon album. I think a lot of fans would be glad it finally happened!

Demos & Outtakes Box Set

I think she needs to just start getting unreleased ALREADY RECORDED material out to the masses! All these years between albums - she needs to be filling in with unreleased material. What other artist has THIS MUCH unreleased material?! Apparantly she isn't ashamed of it or doesn't think it's bad if she made copies for friends and such. She's always said how limited she is when an album comes out - she can only have X number of songs on there. Does she really think her fans won't buy a new album that may have a few new recordings of songs that she's already released from long ago?

Aussie W/Heart 04-21-2010 08:52 AM

I'm thinking we will see a whole bunch of new songs on this new Album, hopefully 2 or 3 old unreleased material in the mix, esp ATBW's. IMO by the end of the Unleashed tour she seemed to on the edge of boredom, just going through the motions, and that's understandable after singing the majority of those song's a million times, same with her previous Solo set lists. I really can't see her playing it SAFE this time around, as we all know she has tons of stuff sitting idle in her volt that need to surface, before she calls it a day... Anyway I sense a kick ass album to be released in 2010...:blob1::D

I agree - and it bothered me some of the times when Stevie had decided to re-record older material - like Smile At You. On the othe rhand, the new version of Running Through the Garden was done well.

For example, I would be fine with Stevie releasing a new album, and putting a 25 year old recording of Julia on it - the song doesn't need anything, just to be released. Blue Water on the other hand would be great with Stevie's current voice.

Someone on SW said that Stevie will release more albums after she's dead than she did while she was alive. I totally believe it.

What would be great is a two-CD set. One of new material, and another of unreleased material. Or it could be a bonus disc that maybe could be ordered or given away as a promo with a pre-order.

Wishful thinking I suppose.

Well I guess the snippet of the song Dave posted on Twitter (Everybody Loves You) will be on it..

And then theres Mike Campbell working with them too.. Gotta love a Stevie Heartbreaker duo:blob2:

As I mentioned in another thread, I just wish she would stop viewing herself as a nostalgia artist and realize that she has stuff she can contribute and be new and refreshing.

I loved Space Needle for the longest time - was always a favorite demo but than I started feeling like it was a little boring and uncharismatic (is that a word?). I'm slightly back into it but I'd like to hear it a little more produced and jazzed up than what we have while maintaining it's simplicity.

SapphireSister 04-21-2010 04:52 PM

If we don't get a released version of ATBW before Stevie croaks I'll be really bummed :distress:. Then again if I really think about it maybe it's just meant to be her hard-core fans' little gem never to be heard by the masses. Yes Stevie, keep it sacred.

CHINA DOLL CHINA DOLL CHINA DOLL! God, I love that song.....would love to hear a studio of it.

However, I would hate to see it done as POTU was done....love the demo, not too crazy about the TISL version.

I don't see how redoing POTU with her current voice would improve it. I don't mind the TISL version, but if I had to choose, I'd listen to the No Light demo any day.

amen to that!! I love love love No Light, and I like the Rumours "remastered" disc 2 of Planets, but I didn't care for it on TISL.

I would love to hear China Doll on a new album, just wouldn't want it to stray far away from the demo like Planets did.;)

+1. I've had those old demos for over a decade... gimme some new goodies!!!

APerfectLie 04-21-2010 10:50 PM

-Everybody Loves You
-New Orleans Song
-14 other new songs
-A bonus "Pre-order" disc or mp3's with several newly recorded versions of old demos, preferably: She Loves Him Still, Forsaken Love, Lady From The Mountains, a rock version of If You Were My Love, China Doll, City of Hope, She Calls You Missing, All The Kings Horses, Mabel Normand, and maybe a cover of Don't Come Around Here No More.

Wishful thinking? Perhaps. But this is 2010, and releasing songs is relatively easy nowadays. I can understand why Stevie has always resorted to bringing a few of her old demos and putting them on albums, because she wanted to get these songs out and the only way to do that back in the day was putting them on a new album or releasing them as a b-side. But here we are in the digital age and the way I see it is that the new album should have new material and those old demos she wants to officially release can easily be released as an EP on iTunes or come as a download with a deluxe pre-order package, which is something that was not near as feasible 10 years ago as it is now. All she has to do is go to the studio and record them and put them on iTunes, costing her very little money and time. It would be great for her to be able to release these songs, it would be great for the fans to get a considerable amount of new songs and rejuvenated demos, it would generate extra revenue from the iTunes sales, and boost album sales by people taking advantage of the pre-order. I actually can't see why Stevie wouldn't do this, but I'm still doubtful that she will.

daniellaaarisen 04-21-2010 10:56 PM

I want all new stuff. Plus "Forsaken Love" and "Space Needle."

I really wish disscussions like this could wait until we got some sort of official album announcment.

I definitely agree. We've still not heard a peep from Stevie, her label, her managers, etc that there even IS an album. I've got a sneaking suspicion this whole Dave Stewart thing is being blown way, WAY outta proportion. All I'm saying is, if there WERE to be a new Stevie album, I'd prefer it be just that: a NEW album.

It's a song called "All the Beautiful Worlds". It was basically a completely song but did not make it on to The Wild Heart album (rumor has it because Jimmy Iovine nixed it) as many fans thought it should have. Very special, beautiful song. There's an entire thread about it if you search.

I agree with this, from past experience I'm not counting my chickens untill there hatched! And maybe full grown! I want it to be true soooo bad, butt!

SapphireSister 04-22-2010 01:24 PM

I'm having a change of heart regarding re-recording and officially releasing some of our favorite demos. I mentioned this earlier in the thread but there's a part of me that would like to keep these songs ours and sacred to the fans who deeply love her. Once they are out there for the masses they are no longer our special gems. What do you guys think of that? I mean imagine if China Doll or ATBW or Mable Normand were released I think it would take something away. You see, I wasn't collecting demos back in 2001 so everything on TISL was new to me. It would be different today if some of them were released because the new versions may not do it justice. Those of you who were around for TISL and SYW I'm sure can appreciate this.

Agreed. I would love new material, but I just honestly don't see a solo album happening. There's no evidence at all to point to this being more than a one-off collaboration, and the fact that she's booking easy-money casino gigs makes me even more pessimistic.

I'd love for her to prove me wrong, though :woohoo:

Fannymac 04-22-2010 05:17 PM

Yeah, I have to agree.....while I would love a new solo album (and CERTAINLY think one is LONG overdue!), I have a sneaking suspicion ~ from what little has been said! ~ that this project is going to be more of a duet album, ala Robert Plant and Allison Krauss' RAISING SAND.
That means all the songs WON'T be Stevie's....rather, we'll see some of her's, some of Dave's, and a bunch of numbers that will be co-written.

On a slightly different note....is Stevie still signed to Reprise?

If it is a duets album I don't see it being much like "Raising Sand" probably more like The Eurythmics with a Socal twist.

You never know....Stevie did say she wanted to do something "different!"
(Plus, we're using the term "duet" loosely here...I think Stevie would handle most, if not all, of the vocals!).

The reason that was such a huge hit was it was SO out of left field. SO unexpected. Who'd a thunk... the father of Heavy Metal doing a duet album with a throwback bluegrass/country sweetheart? It broke down preconceptions and walls. It pushed envelopes, it redefined a legend's career, opened his music up to an entirely new audience, as well as opened up Allison's music and genre to a new audience.

Relative to that project, Stevie and Dave duetting is passe and dull. They're both '80s has beens who relied far too heavily on synthesizers at the height of their fame :sorry:. I'm not trying to be nasty... it's just that there's absolutely NO comparison to Robert/Allison with Stevie/Dave. For Stevie to get the same kind of press as that combo, she'd have to be duetting with a young artist, someone who's the polar opposite of what she's known for. Somebody else who has great talent, someone who stands on their own in their own genre. In my mind, the only genre Stevie could pull from to get the Robert/Allison effect would be hip hop/R&B. If she did an album with somebody like Mary J Blige for instance (Just pulling a random name out of my hat before I get people stomping on my choice), that would be something to talk about.

Out of left field:

Robert Plant singing bluegrass/country? Not so much. At least a third of LZ's songs could have been performed in the country context in concert without too many alterations/adjustments.

NOW you're talking. I'd love to see Stevie FINALLY leave the eighties behind and do something like that.

Last year, wasn't something said about how Stevie wanted to work with Timbaland? I don't remember if it actually came from Stevie's camp, or a Ledge fortune-teller....
