Cell Phone Upgrade - who has VERIZON
Hi All,
I'm eligible for a cell phone upgrade and I have many choices that are free. Just wondering who has Verizon and what type do you have? Do you like, dislike it? I'd like to be able to take pics, send them via email, check email, post on facebook, etc... Here are my choices: BlackBerry® Pearl™ Flip 8230 smartphone https://scache.vzw.com/images_b2c/ph...pearl_flip.png Samsung Saga™ https://scache.vzw.com/images_b2c/ph..._i770_saga.png Palm® Pixi™ Plus https://scache.vzw.com/images_b2c/ph..._pixi_plus.png HTC Touch Diamond™ https://scache.vzw.com/images_b2c/ph...mnd_xv6950.png Palm® Pre™ Plus https://scache.vzw.com/images_b2c/ph...m_pre_plus.png BlackBerry® Curve™ 8530 smartphone in Black https://scache.vzw.com/images_b2c/ph...8530_black.png BlackBerry® Curve™ 8530 smartphone in Smoky Violet https://scache.vzw.com/images_b2c/ph...530_violet.png HTC Ozone™ https://scache.vzw.com/images_b2c/ph.../htc_ozone.png |
I remember reading a few months ago that another smart phone, an iPhone, would be making it's way to Verizon soon if you want to hold out a bit.

I've got Verizon and was finally eligible for an upgrade on March 20th.
I got the Droid and I'm in luuuuuuurve. Basically because I have addictive websites like Facebook at my fingertips 24/7 in basically any location. Edit: Now I see that the Droid isn't one of your options. My bad! Can't help ya, I guess. :sorry: |

this one? DROID ERIS by HTC https://scache.vzw.com/images_b2c/ph...droid_eris.png Actually, I can get it for $29.99 ... so you recommend it huh? |
I've not for one moment regretted getting a Blackberry curve. The battery lasts for a 7 day week and the pre-installed Word software does my late essays wonders :blob2:

I wanna say it was like $200 (even after the rebate for another 2 yr contract...) |
I have a Motorola Q9c which is a windows based smartphone and I love it!
The only windows based phone in that list is the Samsung Saga (which I cant say I like the electric blue color of...) and I am not sure how it would compare, but my Moto has been great. I have been eligable for an upgrade for a while now and I am in no hurry to get rid of it. |
I have a crappy old phone, ready to upgrade in the next month. I will say that I've been with Verizon for several years & like them way more than my old carrier, which was Cingulair/AT&T.
|
I have Verizon. I recently upgraded to the LG.
I pay $22 per month for my calling plan. I don't text or access the Internet. I added a little memory card to the phone, on which I store videos I take of my dog pooping on the walk trail. |

I'm a tightass, and I'm on a Virgin Mobile pay-as-you-go phone(nice qwerty phone, though - Kyocera X-TC). I pay $7/month, for 10cents/minute calls. I buy 1000 texts/month, for an extra $10. At first, I was only making about 5-10 texts a day. Now, 1000 texts won't last a month. |
Just stay away from the BlackBerry Storm! I can't wait to dump this hopefully for an iPhone.

What's wrong with the BB Storm? |

to pull out the battery at least 3 times a day. Yes there is an app for that and it worked fine for a few months and then it made my BB freeze up. I had to delete it. Now I'm back to pulling it out myself. Most of the apps are crap and cost $ and the free ones like Facebook and Twitter and a few others eat up the memory. One time I didn't have any numerical dial pad just strange characters and the folks at Verizon had no clue what was wrong. The dial pad returned ever so mysteriously the next day. If you don't close out of every program it eats up your battery and becomes very hot. That's all I can think of for now. Anna, would you like to add anymore info on the BB? |

Christ where do I start!!?? If you talk to someone for more than a few minutes when you hang up the damn thing will start vibrating like mad, or just go dead. You need to pull out the battery when this happens. Sometimes you will be unable to type quickly on it. You need to pull out the battery when this happens. Sometimes it will just freeze up for no reason at all. You need to pull the battery when this happens. Sometimes it will just lose all your contacts. But, no worries, they will magically reappear later. You can put in on silent, or vibrate, when you need silence, and it will ring audibly anyway. You can put it back on audible, and it will only vibrate. The phone will never ring at all, but you will be notified that you have voicemails. Its an unbelievable piece of ****. When I called Verizon to complain, they agreed it was an unbelievable piece of ****, and told me I was **** out of luck and that I'm stuck with it til September. If I have any real problems with it, they will replace it with another, equally problematic Storm. |
I know that the Motorola Droid isn't 0ne of your options, but seriously, it's worth every penny. I am OBSESSED with mine.

Blackberry?
I think that I started a thread about this very thing @ the beginning of the year. I haven't gotten my new phone yet, but I've come close. I actually went to the Verizon store on Saturday & it was closed! What Verizon store closes @ 1 p.m. on a Saturday? I have my eye on the Blackberry Curve, the black one. I've never surfed the Internet on my present old Samsung (wouldn't even know how to) & I want to on the new phone. I do text on my old phone & want to continue on the new phone, but I'm not a big texter, that is when I text, I go very slowly. And I have never texted while driving. I couldn't anyway. My husband is happy with his old phone though even though I think I can get a buy one, get one free deal.
I am curious though, do you have to pay an additional fee to surf the net? I would guess probably. I've seen the Sprint commercials. Lee :) |
Some day I'll get a cell phone and join the modern world. But why? I just can't justify the expense.

You can do it cheaply. Like I said earlier, I'm on Virgin Mobile(which uses the Sprint network). I pay $7/month, plus 10 cents a minute. Texts are 15 cents each, unless you buy a text package($5/month, for 200, or $10/month, for 1000 -the 1000 just about fits me right). So, I make almost no phone calls, only texts, so I'm essentially paying $17/month. Okay, $20, if I make a few calls. Which beats the hell out of the $45 I was paying Verizon. |

I have the enV and I hate it. Got it in November & have had it replaced once, and repaired once after that.

Got an email from Verizon the other day that said I was eligible for an early upgrade. I've been checking reviews and it looks like the HTC Incredible will be my new phone. I just want to check it out in person before I buy it. I will be so happy not to have pull out the stinkin' battery anymore.
|
Yeah, it's me again. I still have not upgraded my Verizon cell phone. I just can't see paying another $30 just to have Internet access. So for those who have the no-contract Virgin Mobile cell phones, are your phones a Smartphone that can surf the net? I have noticed that they have Blackberry no-contract cell phones around & not just Virgin Mobile.

And, I mean, I have internet at home and work. Do I really need it in my pocket? |

She is not the pay as you go type so I guess she is going to hold on to her old phone as long as she can. I think it's a bit much to charge every month myself but I'm an addict so I pay it. At least my new phone will have GPS built in so I don't have give Verizon anymore money a month. I got the phone for half off but the selling price was already pretty inflated. |
Add me to the "I'm done with Verizon" list. I've been with them for about a decade and have never had any real complaints about their service... but their newly reworked data plan fee structure is just too much for me to put up with.

Yeah, I thought so, too, but I just found out that they have prepaid cell phones, too. I was all set to go with Virgin Mobile, but Verizon has a few Samsung prepaid cell phones & different plans or calling cards to go with it. And though I'm not crazy about Samsung, now I don't know what to do. I know I have to upgrade my current phone though because the screen is just too small to surf the web. I have a nice camera & several iPods, & GPS, so I don't care about these features. I mainly need a cell phone to occasionally surf the web, talk (sometimes long distance), & text. Gosh, I can't decide. Lee :) |
It's me again...
Well, I have decided to go with Virgin Mobile. Their cell phone plans were just too good for me to pass up. My husband got a LG Rumor 2 on sale @ Target & I got an LG Rumor Touch through VM. I really like my phone; it's really cool. Well, for me it's cool because I had a little Samsung phone which was so small I could barely see the keys to text, & it wasn't a smart phone. Now we're just waiting for them to port our current cell phone numbers into our VM phones & then we''ll get on their plans. It 's the Sprint Network, so I'll let everyone know how this all goes. I appreciate the help that I got from different people on this.
