Stevie Live Before The Dance

According to the vids, they're from 1996. They're pretty good, but I didn't know Stevie performed post SA- before the dance. Is this true?

Pretty good performances.

Pretty good performances.

In 1996 she did four radio sponsored concerts, sharing the bill with many other artists. This one you have is from Boston, another was in Florida, another in Ohio and I forget where the 4th one was. My video copy is way better than the one you posted.

I love when she says to the audience,"you didn't think I'd be wearing these high heeled boots now, did you?"
And then she laughingly says, "that's why I'm so tall!"

Stevie performed a lot in 1996. First, in Phoenix in April, showing off "Twisted" as well as her newly-thin Atkins Diet body.

Then, she was at the Kentucky Derby in May at that Ball she's performed at many times (Mick was with her; first sign that the rifts had healed).

July 4, 1996 ~ In Florida. Both the rehearsal and concert are on video.

August 16, 1996 ~ Columbus, OH, at the Polaris Amphitheatre. Stevie headlined a benefit concert (she had just written "Touched By An Angel", BTW).

October 1996 ~ Boston, MA at the MixFest concert. Lots of different video exists of this as well.

Perhaps more!

I thought John & Chris were there too?

mikebise 04-04-2010 01:06 PM

I dunno. I only pay attention to Stevie Nicks.

i was at the 8/16 Columbus show ...Stevie was supposed to share the headline spot with Cher, but Cher cancelled at the last minute, so we got a longer Stevie set (which was awesome!) KC & the Sunshine Band were there too. I have a few pics packed away somewhere.

Don't forget about Voice of the Beehive, and Color Me Bad! I was there too! I was blinded by sunscreen in my eyes for the entire concert and I remember being so upset because I wouldn't be able to see Stevie. I kept running to the restroom to splash water in my eyes hoping the stinging would stop and I'd be able to see. Just as they were announcing Stevie my eyes cleared up! It was a miracle I tell you!

coz i'm sure that would be some people's answer

I was also at the AMAZING Columbus concert! Drove all the way from Dallas (spent the previous night in Louisville)!

Stevie was so beautiful! Her hair was straight before the show when she met some fans (not me) and then super-hot-rollered for the concert ~ exquisite!!!

I got to the show when Voice of The Beehive was starting, and their music is played a lot at the Gap (where I work), so I knew most of their songs. And KC was fun.

And the BEERS OF THE WORLD were awesome!!!!!!!! ;)

And Stevie was so fabulous! I had 3 different July 4th videos, and the Polaris show was even better!

petep9000 04-05-2010 08:19 AM

There was a pic floating around from one of the rehearsals for one of these shows. Stevie is wearing sunglasses, but also a pretty country-looking frock. You know, a cream colored sundress with mauve flowers on it. She looked like she was heading to church, hehe. I think she was also wearing white tights and white bunchy socks and white Reeboks, but I could be imagining that last part.
The hair was straight with some puff, not pin-straight like she wears on stage.
All in all, a very causal and comfortable look. I loved that pic!

I have no idea who took these, but they're great shots.
But that dress just screams "GRANNY!!!" to me....

mikebise 04-05-2010 09:50 AM

That's the July 4th rehearsal in Florida (both rehearsal and concert are available on video).

Alicia posted some pics of her meeting Stevie before the Polaris show on my FaceBook page. I will try and post them if I can figure it out (probably not). That afternoon we were all excited before Alicia and a group of fans got a special meeting with Stevie. It was a magical day!

BEERS OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know where I can get this concert video? Is there a torrent somewhere?
The only place I know of is Thowndown and I didn't see it there. Thanks:)

That mic is very un-Stevie though. I remember thinking that first thing. Funny how certain things immediately look out of place.

I've got the July 4th and October '96 shows on video but I've been looking for the Polaris one. Any suggestions where I might find a copy?

mikebise 04-06-2010 12:07 PM

Unfortunately, no. The Polaris is the best of the 1996 shows by far, but no video.

However, I think "Twisted" was the best in Boston ~ Stevie screaming out the ending!!!! :)

SapphireSister 04-06-2010 12:22 PM

This version of Stand Back can be described in one word: Twirl-tastic!

yes...that ending was wonderful. GDW was pretty amazing, too as I remember. I haven't watched that show in a while.

In my imagination, Stevie released an album in 1996, and these were taken on the tour she did for it. Then she would have released more than just two albums of new material in the last two decades.

I LOVE the rhythm guitar in that version!!!! I remember I was disappointed that the arrangement was different on the Enchanted tour.

Stevie rehabbed off that tranquilizer well before her 1994 tour. That's why we all love that tour. Please pay attention!!

mikebise 04-08-2010 05:11 PM

The Street Angel Tour remains one of my best Stevie experiences ever!

The Dallas and Houston shows were incredible, Stevie was singing so strongly and passionately ~ no Klonopin there!!!

I think Stevie's performance at the MixFest concert in Boston in October 1996 is incredible. The purple outfit is not my favourite, but her singing and energy are fantastic!

Trust me I knew this but I had a brain fart ok? Maybe I need to lay off the klonopin j/k. And don't f*ck with me David or I'll get real f*ucking angry .

What purple outfit? I was at this show in Boston and she wore black for the entire show with the addition of the GDW gold shawl (for Rhiannon too) and a white lacey overlay for HAEWAFY. I don't remember any purple outfit. She wore a black "OSOTM" type robe for Stand Back... maybe it looks purple-ish in a bad video, but it was a black satin robe in person.

mikebise 04-08-2010 06:05 PM

Yeah, I have 3 different videos of the show, all first generation, and they all look purple.

Maybe I see colours no one else sees.

?? No? ;)

You haven't posted to my Wall in a hell of a long time. Please post something Beethovenian.

I have great quality videos of the Boston show too. The cape appears purple to me too.

It was definitely black. Shimmery, but black. I was at the show front and center and loved the outfit. That day was one of my most favorite Stevie moments because she seemed truly happy and thrilled to be on stage for the first time in a real long time. I remember saying, "Stevie is back!"

There was also speculation before the show that she was going to sing Freefallin' This goes back quite a bit and I haven't watched the video in ages, but my recollection is that after I Need To Know, she was having trouble catching her breath and actually says, "I can't breathe" and walks off the stage. I might not be remembering it right, but it seemed like the band was ready for another song when she left the stage before coming out for HAEWAFY.

Really? This blows me away. I was under the impression that the rehab was after the SA tour. What were the actual dates that she was in rehab then?
