Favorite Stevie-isms
As we all know whether Stevie’s singing live or in the studio she sometimes mispronounces words or they are just plain unintelligible altogether. I like to call them Stevie-isms. It's so cute - like she has her own language and she repeats some of them in multiple songs. I’m curious as to what some of your favorites are or ones you’ve noticed over the years that stand out. I personally love “drownded in the sea” (as opposed to drowning) from The Nightmare. Also, there’s been debate over her saying “smell of nag champra” as opposed to the correct pronunciation, “nag champa” from Illume. I know some of these may be controversial as to what she’s actually saying and what the correct pronunciation is but let’s start some controversy!

Favourite Stevie-ism:
"Well, I..." "Well, you....." Well, baby....." "WEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLL" |

I dare someone to count the number of times Stevie says baby in her songs. I guess baby is a pretty general word though. My favorite baby is Gold Dust Woman live "baby baby baby baby baby baby, you can't see me now..."

i also love how she pronounces different words: like "ay-way" instead of "uh-way!" and...when she talks: "You know!":) |

I like the "Well, Well" in Eo17.

Stevie's newest song entitled "Well, Well" and the chorus sings:
"She says well baby but he says well well baby baby baby..." |

I like the way she pronounces musicians, like musi-sins, instead of musi-shuns. |

By the time she got to the little blue pills stamped with a 'k', she was no longer ad-libbing. |

In interviews she usually says the words "Totally" and "Fabulous" (seperate, as well as together) about a hundred times! Love that!

Does anybody remember what Stevie was asked when her response was "when pigs fly!"? I can totally hear her saying that but can't for the life of me remember what it was in response to. I want to say she was referring to Lindsay Lohan playing her in a bio-pic but I think her response to that was "over my dead body" which is pretty funny too.

This doesn't really have to do with Stevie-isms but since it's my thread I can be off-topic. So here's my issue - it has always been important to me when it comes to Stevie's songs to know who wrote the music and who wrote the lyrics. For some reason the song is not quite as special if it wasn't all written by her. The nicksfix songs and lyrics section is a great resource for this type of into and on some songs it says "music by..." or "words by..." but on others it says "written by Stevie Nicks and so and so" but doesn't discern between who wrote the music and who wrote the lyrics or if they worked together. Does this make sense to anyone? For example, under I Can't Wait it says "written by s. nicks, r. nowels, e. pressly" but doesn't say which one wrote the lyrics and which one wrote the music. Of course I know that she wrote the lyrics and not the music but for many others I don't know. It's really annoying!

Well, you know, I'd have to say that out of all my, you know, favorite Stevie-isms, "you know" would have to be one of them. You know? Even though it drives me, you know, well, insane.

I like "make the guitar sound more sparkly". I think it was on the Mirage rehearsal tape?

How could I forget this one - "hit it". She loves hit it. I think she says hit at least 20 times on RAL. And hit what? The stage? You? Lindsey? Nowadays when artists sing/rap "hit it" it takes on a whole new meaning..
