Having Brad Jeffries on stage for ‘Stand Back’? Cool or cheesy?
As seen on SNL, Solid Gold, and in the Red Rocks concert video - do you think having Brad dance with Stevie during the instrumental part added to the performance of the song or the opposite?
Personally, works for me (plus Brad was a hottie!). :) Roland P.S. I read that he danced with Stevie during ‘How Still My Love’ as well at the RAL shows (or at least some of them). |
I love Brad, but it's cheesy. I always wondered what 99.9% of the audience must have been thinking when he'd just appear out of nowhere, like a crazy fan who got past security.

it was total cheese but it was the 80's so who cared? I think it fit in perfectly with the RAL show.
|
His presence really magnified Mama's lack of coordination and rhythm.
|
Embarrassingly cheesy. :p
|
It was either Brad or Pee-Wee Herman. Personally, I think Stevie made the right choice.

It was cheesy...but I've actually grown fond of seeing him just appear out of nowhere. It makes me smile for some reason. Gotta love the 80's! :D

I wondered if that was Stevie's " boy toy " for that tour? I dont know if it's confirmed that they were an item, or even what the time line would have been, but that would be my guess as to why she dragged him around on RAL to dance with her for 10 seconds a night. |
Tacky.
Cheesy. Ridiculous. Revolting. |

I liked it, but looking back on it now I can see how people seeing it now would see it as kind of cheesy. But personally I don't feel that most of us who were fans during that time would feel that we're all that ch- - - HOLY HOTCAKES, BATMAN, the PENGUIN'S back!!! Sorry, gotta go. ...... ;) |

Cheesy. Nah I don't think so, considering during the Wild Heart tour Cyndi Lauper was sailing across arenas in a garbage can. And a year or so later Madonna was rolling around the floor in a wedding dress. It was part of the show, the 1980's. And things got more crazy as the years went on. Just look at the latest, completely ridiculous circus' we see with today's "performers". There are very few who just sing, there always has to be 30 dancers, fire, smoke, at least one reptile and some form of erotic dancing and hair thrashing. Dont get me wrong there are still some who just play. But it is "show business".
When we were watching Pink on the grammy's, one of my friends yelled out "what is she peeing" when she was spinning around and the water started, it was hysterical. And by the way I Like Pink. |

I always thought it was weird and kind of lame!

I love it when Brad came out on the stage! It's the '80s!!! Gotta love it!!!
|
It was different,to see Brad pop in for a quick dance for a second.at the time i did not know who he was.

It always looked to me like Bob Glaub was laughing at the dancer boy segment on stage. I rather liked it though. |
Insofar as that kind of dancing can ever make sense, it probably made more sense at the time than it does now, looking back.

So Brad coming out on the stage is nothing compared to some of the stuff we see today. It's all in good fun though. |
Pretty cheesy...but they had lots of energy...which really added to the performance!
|
If there were a stronger word than "cheesey", I would use it here.
