SHOW HISTORY NIGHT OF A THOUSAND STEVIES is the biggest and best-loved STEVIE NICKS fan event in the world, one of those great New York City spectacles that sparks travel from all around the globe. Born in 1990 at the tiny performance venue MOTHER, "The Night" has run for nineteen years, even inspiring the 2001 film GYPSY 83. Neither a contest nor a karaoke show, NOTS is the Stevie celebration ne plus ultra - a riot of shawls, lace, baby's breath, twirling, tambourines and great performance. This much-loved annual has hosted Stevie fans and celebrated guests and performers including DEBBIE HARRY, BOY GEORGE, COURTNEY LOVE, CYNDI LAUPER and so many more. ABOUT THE JACKIE FACTORY NOTS producers CHI CHI VALENTI, JOHNNY DYNELL and HATTIE HATHAWAY have been creating events together since the early Nineties, as part of a creative collective called THE JACKIE FACTORY NYC. "The Factory" brought over 450 themed weekly editions of JACKIE 60 to fruition over a decade in the 1990s, and currently produce dozens of spectacles a year in addition to NOTS, both in and out of New York City. This has been one of my lifetime goals. I have FAMILY in NY and I still haven't gone. Hell, I grew up in NY and never went. Basically, it would cost me airfare (or gas). I am going to speak with my best friend from HS and see if she is up for a road trip. I say this every year but I think I am going to do this.
Jason, am I too old? Am I too "straight"? Tell us more about the crowd. |

Seriously. later this year I think we could start planning this. It would give everyone time to get cash together etc... For those going this year - have a GREAT time!! |
I am going to do my best to be there. 20th anniversary and rumoured to be the last one, I've heard. I need to be there.

I really wanna go!!! I gotta see what my schedule is like around that time.
|
I will definitely be there. Hmmm... sisters of the moon is the theme. This year I swore not to try to dress theme-appropriate. But something tells me I'll have to think of something simple.
Last year's show was spectacular. |

This thing has always intrigued me, but I don't think I would fit in AT ALL since i am not much of a partier.

I think I may make the trip as well!!!

Well, unless I get a good sum of cash between now and May I can't make it. Boo! This had been a real ambition of mine for the past few years as well, I just hope that this isn't the last one because I had 2011 all planned(ish)!

I'm going.
My oldest friend (25 years and counting) and I are planning a whirlwhind trip to NYC, then Long Island (where I am from). If I don't necessarily want to dress like Stevie, what do Iwear? |

What will you do with your hair? |
Photos from past events, most people that go do have similar outfits to what Stevie would wear :D

Can I wear black, though? Instead of violet and blue (though those are both good colors for me)? I begin the elliptical routine this weekend, so I may lose the 10lbs I would need to feel confident enough to NOT wear black. Should all this be in a PM? LOL Who else is going and who wants to meet up before the show? |

I would say that somewhere around 90% of the ladies are clad in black or other dark hues in a normal year. The year that the theme was 'Alice' there was a lot of red, and last time I went (I think 2008) I saw loads of white, I think the theme was doves. It varies by theme, I suppose.
How about leggings? I see lots of tights and leggings here in NYC among the younger crowds, worn under skirts or shorts. Check this out, from TimeOutNYC latest issue... http://newyork.timeout.com/articles/...sh-new-yorkers |

How quickly does this sell out? I've always wanted to go but never have and maybe this year should be the year!
