Earlier Wednesday, it was announced that Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli will take the stage to sing Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" to fundraise for Haiti relief.

Beyonce, the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, the Dave Matthews Band and Taylor Swift -- who are all up for Album of the Year -- will also perform.

louielouie2000 01-27-2010 07:22 PM

Interesting... I wonder why now?

And of course this has to happen the week AFTER I cancel my cable tv .

RockAlot 01-27-2010 07:25 PM

WOW!!! This is friggin awesome!! And I recently got the DVR package! (sorry louie ;-( ):blob2:

JohnL 01-27-2010 07:28 PM

Cool..

I am psyched. I wonder what she will perform. I wonder if it is a tribute to someone or something. I guess we will see. :blob2:

Angel69 01-27-2010 07:34 PM

Very Cool. She needs this kind of exposure!! I really hope she performs HAEWAFY.

OldTimer 01-27-2010 07:38 PM

At first I thought this was one of iamnotafraid's 'exclusives' -- but this is real? Real? I wonder why, what song, and if it will make it to the telecast?

This is surprising but very cool!

Can I assume she'll show up on on the red carpet on Mr. Fleetwood's arm? ;)

SandyMac 01-27-2010 07:39 PM

OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, :blob1::blob1::blob2::blob2:

Jumping up and down in pure joy!

ShangriLaTroubl 01-27-2010 07:47 PM

Maybe she's getting some kind of lifetime achievement award and that's why she's performing? Or she could be a guest performer with a newer artist or something?

JohnL 01-27-2010 07:48 PM

Hmmm...

They are having a segment as a dedication to Haiti. I wonder if she will be involved with that.

GypsyBlueEyes 01-27-2010 07:50 PM

:blob1: :blob2:Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I'm so excited! :blob1: :blob2:

That's true, that's probably most likely what her performance is about...In that case I hope it's Has Anyone Ever Written...

goldustsongbird 01-27-2010 07:52 PM

I hope she sings Dreams or Rhiannon. We hardly hear those live anymore.

I hope so, I love it when she pulls out the rarities!

That's exactly what I thought too!

But your telecast talk worries me. I never knew there were things that didn't make the final cut? If she is going to be there, we better get to see it! This is exciting! :woohoo:

A little inappropriate, considering the circumstances.

She should go out on a limb and sing Stand Back. 2010 is a new year, Stevie, it's time to shake things up a little!

JohnL 01-27-2010 08:19 PM

God...

You people could ruin a wet dream. Frickin kill joys everywhere.

EnchantedKiwi 01-27-2010 08:28 PM

WOOOO :) So exciting!!!! GO STEVIE, I wonder what she'll wear on the red carpet!? :blob1::blob2:

I'm sure it means nothing, but I just don't like the way they worded it... "musical performance" -- will she perhaps play the piano? Or tambo?

In any event, this gives me reason to actually watch the Grammys this year.

And how is it a "surprise" if US Magazine is reporting it? lol

Fiver 01-27-2010 08:48 PM

Maybe the surprise part of it is it'll be a duet with somebody?

Pretty psyched for this!

Amlyn 01-27-2010 08:55 PM

I wasn't even going to watch The Grammy's, but they just gained a viewer now!!

Maybe this will FINALLY inspire her to get some new material out there.

Wonder if Mick's involvement in this year's show lit a fire under to her get herself out there.

jrpjr 01-27-2010 08:57 PM

i think its good...not great as i'm sure she will just b singing landslide and/or stand back..(long yawn)...enough of these staples already...i will change the channel on the first note of either one of these overdone "musical performances." she has sooooo many OTHER good songs...go out on a limb stevie and sing something ALITTLE different...PLEASE...for the love of God

Didn't I have a dream about her new song, a duet with Sheryl Crow?

I love it when someone with no sense of humour starts judging what is funny

Anyway, I really am looking forward to seeing Stevie perform on the Grammys even if it's yet another rendition of Dreams, I just hope it's not.

AliceLover 01-27-2010 09:26 PM

I highly, highly, highly, highly (one more time), highly doubt that she will sing one of her own songs. I am sure she will be onstage with 5-10 other artists doing some kind of medley to support Haiti.

As for her wardrobe, I hope she goes with the all red dress and boots. I gauruntee it will be that dress, but if its red or black, I don't know.

Regardless, I am beyond tittilated about this!

This is true. She may get a line or two to sing solo if that's the case.

Something BLACK... OMG, that is so funny!!!!
(you know you are a true fan when you can pick on your idols and still laugh your ass off at the same time). LOL. I enjoyed that. Thank you for making me laugh when I really needed it today.

You might be right, but any broadcast air time for Stevie is great news, no matter if it is 15 sec, 30 sec. or a minute, it is still awesome news! Hoping for a whole song, but hey, this news definitely lifted my spirits today. :D

RockALittle250 01-27-2010 10:33 PM

I couldn't care less if she performs Stand Back, i'm just glad Stevie is doing something so...cool!! This is truly amazing, being that Stevie normally hates these kinds of things; i'm glad she's getting herself out there and will show the younger artists how the Queen of Rock does it! This was completely unexpected!

joe68 01-27-2010 10:36 PM

This is outstanding news! But if "Landslide" is inappropriate, I guess "Crash" is completely out of the question!

Well, Dave Matthews is also scheduled to perform, so maybe Stevie will finally get her wish, and perform it with Dave.

Yeah, I was half expecting her to show up at the House of Blues performance, but I didn't even consider the Grammys a possibility.

If she is participating in the Haiti relief performance, then I hope she pulls out a rarity like Touched by an Angel.

If she's doing the MJ tribute, I personally would love to hear her sing You Are Not Alone. Using her upper register voice, this could be beautiful.

God help me if she sings Landslide, Stand Back, or Dreams.

I don't know why people care about what she sings. To be honest, most of the industry would be disappointed if she didn't sing a classic, just like they would be disappointed if Aretha Franklin didn't sing Respect. It's about a general audience, not hard core fans like us.

Why do I care about what she sings? I care because millions of other people will be watching this show and when they hear her sing a well known song such as Stand Back, the first thing that will come to their minds is, God, her voice has gone to hell.

I would prefer to have her sing a song that people aren't familiar with, or that her signature 70's/80's voice is not attached to, so I don't sit cringing on my couch.

But that's just my personal opinion. You don't have to agree or understand.
