Favorite Intros @ Live Shows

Just wondering if anyone was interested in posting or talking about some of their favorite intros to a song from a live show, or their favorite part of a song from a live show, and why? What is it about that part that makes you feel this way?

I really love the Stand Back intro from Weedsport, NY-RAL- 1986.
Bobby Hall does her amazing **** (along with a drum beat) for a full like a full 2 minutes, then the rest of the band chimes in with the regular intro, until Stevie decides to start singing a full minute after that. In total the intro is about 3:22 long, and in my opinion it totally kicks ass!

I've always loved the intro to Dreams from the Wild Heart tour. I was going to upload the version from Dallas that I have, but it's lossless and 56 mb and was taking too long, so I said forget it. Maybe someone has it or at least another good quality version of Dreams from this tour?

I like the keyboard pads that linked the end of "Dreams" with "Rooms on Fire" on the 1989 tour. It was a nice little mood piece in the medley. It was great up in Sacramento at the state fairgrounds. I guess Chris Cameron is the one who played it. Maybe Bobby Martin played secondary boards on it. The part was basically the same idea from night to night, but because it was improvised, there were cute little differences in the melodic lines.

any intro, where stevie's father introduces her~ i have always thought it was just sweet as hell~

Also "Stand Back" on the 1983 tour was the best energy in Stevie's shows of all time. The drum machine was set on a straightway 4/4 beat, Bobbye Hall played her congas, & then finally Kunkel kicked in on his kit right before the synth part made everybody recognize what it was.

Me too, I was gonna post the same thing. :p

You can just hear the pride in his voice:

"Ladies and GENTLEMEN,
my DAUGHTER,
Stevie NICKS!"

"dooo - DOOO-dooo, doo-doo-DOO-dooo Out-SIDE'S the RAIN AND MY HEART skips a beat..."

I like the intro to Rooms on Fire from 1999.

I liked the intro by Chris Nicks on the RAL Tour: "Are you ready to rock a little? Then please welcome Miss, Stevie Nicks!"

And then the first time Stevie speaks to the audience she says, "Hello! Welcome!"

Each and every Stevie Nicks show should start with "Outside The Rain". Period.

:o

YES AND YES> BUT I have one somewhere from Enchanted where Her dad reads the definition for "Enchanted" in the dictionary and THEN introduces her and begins Outside the Rain. I am STILL soooooooooooooo dissapointed that we dont have a CLEAR NICE GOOD QUALITY version of outside the rain where it sounds modern. It really rocked for a while there. The Melbourne Symphony is a good version but again, we only have BOOTLEGS.

I would love, love, love to hear that!!

Is that her Dad reading the dictionary, or was it Chris? It didn't sound like her Dad to me but I could be wrong.

Her '83 solo performance at The US Festival has to qualify for this thread. Her introductions were often hilarious ('Sharon Celani, she's yours for $25,000')-- and there's what I'm pretty sure she said at the time was the first performance ever of her new song- 'Stand Back'- and her comment after- 'You could be standing in it? What does that mean? Well, you'll be the only 75,000 people who will know- it's quicksand', and the Girl Scout Cookies comment, she went off on some tangents that night! Another tangent was her 'don't tell me turn left off the freeway, I'll turn right'.
She playfully tried to (or did!) lift up Sharon's and Lori's dresses, whilst merrily exiting the stage at one point, there's a lot of fun stuff in that show- 'Mr Film Camera' (from she didn't know where) caught her with a big wineglass in her hand and getting back to the mic a tad late during the band's solos in 'Stop Draggin'-- Her yanking on Waddy's hair is pretty fiery too.
Vocally, there's my favorite ever 'How Still My Love' that night, and a terrific 'Angel' that may be better than the live Mac version.
Near the end of her set, there's a hilarious (to me, anyway) awkward plop back on to the stage-- no-one even tried to help her, and so she just climbed back onto the stage after venturing too far off of it- the plop was just before she bravely stood back up- but you try being graceful with 7 inch platforms and a good buzz going! It's to her credit she was able to get back to the stage and her mic to finish the song. I think this was during 'Edge' though it may have been 'Rhiannon'.
The bootlegs are quite good in quality, and she is in such good :) spirits throughout the concert.

I respect your opinion and want to add my comments to your post. I have always been bored with Stevies' solo version of Angel. I think the FM way is far more superior.

The song you are referring to was Stand Back, and if you look closely you will see an arm extended out to help her back up on the stage.

This song Dreams is from the RedRocks Uncut thing, but she speaks about her great great grandmother after Dreams, saying she came across the Colorado desert , Indian massacre, last survivor, and then says something I can't make out clearly, then she says thank-you, and the song goes into Talk to Me. So I'm not sure if that was some kind of intro or something, or just one of the many things Stevie decided to share with us on RAL. Does anyone know what she was talking about?

My take is that she was just telling Colorado that half her family was from there. I don't think she was linking the story to Talk To Me or its inception . I think it was just her way of saying "Hey Colorado, I have ties to this place," before that particular song.

For the part you can't make out, I think she is just saying, "So now you know that."

Michele

Thought this was kind of special from the SA tour. Stevie does a little teaser of a song she wrote called " At the Fair ", before going into Destiny. Wonder what ever became of it ? It's probably with the New Orleans song I would quess.

At the Fair is an incomplete demo. She sang the tune different than she does on tape.

She told a similar story before Landslide at Red Rocks in 2007. She said she was little and she hid, then dedicated the song to her family that still lives there. I don't have the file, otherwise I would post it.

Even though I have never been to a Stevie concert (what - I was born a year after Street Angel :o)

But anyway I love Outside the rain, it's got that upcoming excitement feeling to it! :blob2:

Anyone have a clip of her father introducing her?
