The Best of The Wild Heart Tour

I made a little something that I thought you all would like. I listened to all my Wild Heart tour bootlegs and took note when I heard a version of a song that I thought was extra great. After I did all this I narrowed it down more because I had more than one choice of shows for almost all the songs to come up with The Best of The Wild Heart Tour.

I got at least one song from every wild heart show that I have on here, so the sound quality varies from A - B sound. I hope you all enjoy this. It should be extra good for those of you who don't like to collect every single show.

Here are the download links and where each song comes from:

I hope you like it! I also have ( :o )typed up to the best I could what Stevie said before/after every song, including band introductions. Is anyone else besides myself crazy enough to want to read them? If so please let me know and I can post them here as well. The cool thing is that she rarely repeated herself. These also include the length of gdw and edge wails.

nailatixela 12-14-2009 12:27 PM

I'm listening to my whole CD now all together for the first time. Here are just some reasons why I picked these versions of the songs

Gold Dust Woman - love the tribal scream at the very start of this song. Stevie gives it her all and there are a lot of "hit it"s in here. No wail though, but the rest of the song makes up for that.

Outside the Rain - very lively and stevie says damn

Dreams - "heartbreak" and "some woman they will come and always go!" really make this one. Wish Dreams was still sung like this.

Gold & Braid - good quality and it was hardly done on this tour

I Need to Know - Lively stevie!

Gypsy - really heartwarming gypsy...very robin inspired performance

Sara - lovely

Enchanted - only version of it that I have from this tour, it was only done sometimes in the start of the tour.

Angel - again, only version I have besides US fest. But this is really great. "tired angel" Stevie sings it beautifully.

If Anyone Falls - she goes crazy on this one!

Leather and Lace - lovely, great vocals

Stand Back - the drums at the start of this song are really cool.

Beauty and The Beast - I know it doesn't have the orchestra backing on it, but it's still a great version

How Still My Love - a lot of extra add libs thrown in here!

I Will Run To You - this is the only time she ever did this song live, and Tom is with her.

Stop Draggin - This is the first SDMHA from the tour which means it doesn't have that horrible long guitar solo that got longer as the tour went on.

Edge of Seventeen - What can I say, very powerful and very stevie.

Rhiannon - Lot's of nice add libs. Towards the end it's the best. "did you see her? I think that yes you did!" Also, Stevie might be playing the piano intro this time?

Thank You Very Much. I'm downloading now. What an awesome project. Can't wait to blast this on my new stereo (really loud) while the kids are in school.

FMlex 12-14-2009 12:40 PM

Yes!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to put all of this together.
I'm downloading right now. :)

I love listening for little differences in each song.
Thanks again!

Wow, great CD. Excellent choices. I got a lot of Christmas wrapping done while rocking out to this . Thanx again.

Nail, this one isn't from Kansas City. It's from Tempe, Compton Terrace, Sept. 25, 1983. The first part of it is cut out, too--the part where Roy plays the piano & Stevie sings. This MP3 starts with Stevie doing a little twiddle on the electric piano & Benmont on the B3. She did that a bunch of times later in 1983.

Do you have the HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Wizard from either Ames or Tulsa? I'd like to hear that again.

nailatixela 12-14-2009 04:04 PM

Oh thank you for the correction David. That's really strange. I don't remember how I got the kansas city show - unless someone just stuck a different Rhiannon on the end of the bootleg, because on the whole bootleg I have stevie sings Kansas City, and I know she wouldn't do that in Tempe. So I wonder how much of my bootleg is actually from Kansas City.

I have both of those shows so I think I should have the happy birthday. I'll look for it and post it here if I can find it!

David, would you have made any other picks for this idea? I bet you would chose the BATB from east rutherford, huh? It was so hard to pick some of these.

I'm glad you like them Alexa and rags. I hope to make one for RAL too.

vivfox 12-14-2009 05:29 PM

This looks like it's goimg to be fun to listen to. What a great idea! Can you do one for the Tusk Tour too?

I was at this show: Tom Petty was a suprise guest!

I'd love to do that tour as well! I don't have as many shows as you though for the Tusk tour, but I hope you would enjoy it anyway.

Angel69 12-14-2009 06:12 PM

Wow. Thanks for doing this! Very much appreciated.

I was at the Philadelphia, East Rutherford and both Radio City shows.

Angel69 12-14-2009 06:15 PM

Just got up to If Anyone Falls. Excellent. The sound quality on that is great, considering the year and the recording device that was probably used. Once again thanks.

I actually used to make up transcripts for every bootleg I had. They included my own comments too so I would remember how good or bad the performance was. I had a lot of time on my hands

Thanks for posting this. I've always wanted to do something like this but just don't have the time. I'm looking forward to listening since Wild Heart is my favorite tour and I noticed a few of the songs were from shows I don't have.

Nathan 12-14-2009 09:50 PM

The Enchanted on this is fantastic!!

Nathan 12-14-2009 10:01 PM

Oh my God, the Rhiannon is great too. Among the best actually, at first listen.

vivfox 12-14-2009 11:57 PM

I've been enjoying "this show" as I make my Christmas cards. I keep thinking, thank God they didn't have in ear monitors back then. Maybe she was so spastic and loud in those days so she could hear herself and the band while she performed. Man I wish she would put this much effort into her vocals these days, but still sounding as good as she does nowadays.

-Lillith- 12-15-2009 02:06 PM

Thank you ! This is really great

I listen to it while i do my recover workout , helps ! :)

Would love to have more like this ^^ Thx

The HSML from Dallas has always been one of my faves. Especially when she vamps, "I don't get angry; but when I do you need to watch out..."

Somehow I believe her.

I like you, AgeOldDesire. Tell us a little about yourself. You have good taste.

David, here is the happy birthday you were talking about. Go right to the 2 minute mark if you want to skip the rest.

http://www.mediafire.com/?2tnztynenmy

I think there have been better happy birthdays. LOL.

Sahara 12-16-2009 05:45 PM

Great idea Alex, looking forward to listening!

You did truly pick what sounds like the best of the wild heart tour. Just when I thought I've heard every possible Rhiannon ending here's the "Did you see here and I say Oh Yes I Did" ending. It truly was the Gold Dust Woman of its time  Rhiannons a song that even in the early 80's she never did well solo. But this version you posted is easily her best solo Rhiannon ever. I agree that the tribal scream at the begining of GDW is awseome and does anyone else catch that Stevie goes into her second round of white winged doves before she finishes the first verse about being no more then a baby on the edge of 17 then she finishes it and does more white winged doves. It's great.

EnchantedKiwi 12-17-2009 06:57 PM

So coool! Do one of these best of's for Fleetwood Mac!

nailatixela 12-17-2009 07:09 PM

Thanks very much for the kind words everyone. I love this tour because Stevie was wild, and had a great relationship with the fans. So I tried to pick the most wild versions of the songs I could find.

I want to do another one of these. I think I'll do the Rock A Little tour next. The Tusk tour is another one that I also know for sure that I'd like to do.

You should do the Tusk tour. Seems like RAL may have been done before, or something similar.

 It's going to take a little while longer for me to finish RAL. I have audio for 32 RAL shows so it's more to go through than I had for Wild Heart. It's still a lot of fun though!

You'll be twirling off the stage, wailing gibberish, and forgetting your own words after all that. Sounds like a good time!

Nail, you didn't put anything from the Forum on your list. How could you do that? My list would be completely different. But I still like you.

I don't have that show. :( Is that the early October show? Late shows are hard to come by, I wish we had more because in general they are better shows. I like you too!

I DL-ed the Dallas "How Still My Love" yesterday... OH, MEMORIES!!!!!!!

This version is just insane!!!!!!!!!! I can even remember the flashing green lights spraying the crowd during, "It's ME talkin' to ya!!!"

And the NYC "Gypsy"... incredible! I SO wish that "Gypsy" from the 1983 tour was on a radio show in perfect quality. That tour was my favourite way that "Gypsy" was performed, live or studio. The piano, the drums, the guitars, the FAST beat (not PLODDING like FM) and Stevie's wonderful wild-hearted voice and ad libs!!!!!!
