Potential Ledgie of the Month Award
 

Alright- I was reading through a House MD Board, and they had a thing called "Doctor of the Month". The administration selected a member a month who best followed the rules and displayed certain qualities and things- and I thought it was kind of a cool idea. Don't know how you all would feel about something like this, but I thought it might be a neat idea to throw out to you all!

Sounds like a popularity contest... bad can of worms to open up. I'm not sure if I like rewarding perfection in etiquette and behavior either... I rather like pushing people's buttons, and seeing how everyone reacts. What the hell kinda fun is adhering to rules anyway??? :lol:

Don't you think it's kinda funny that a board dedicated to House, a show about a doctor who stubbornly won't follow the rules and takes delight in provoking people, rewards following rules and conforming?

I think Ethan has brought up this idea of having a regular popularity contest a few times now.

Before I even entered this forum I guessed that it would be Ethan who started this thread. And yes Sharon... I'm sure he suggested this before and it was considered a bad idea then too

I actually like this idea! But I think the ledgie of the month award should be given to whoever has posted the most posts that month. That way, it's fair.

God no. That will just encourage people to post for the sake of it ust to bring their post count up.

How about an ANNUAL awards with 10-20 "catagories" . I.e. "Most Posts", "Dumbest Posts", "Threadkiller of the Year", "Threadstarter of the Year", "Thread Hijacker of The Year", "Most Tangents to thread subject", etc. Get 5 nominations per catagory, open up voting for a month.


Oh, and I'd gladly accept the nomination for "Lifetime Achievement".

That actually is kind of a funny idea! We could have an awards show, called "The Ledgies"! I would be for that! :laugh: Come up with all sorts of goofy categories and everything!!!!

I was totally the Ledgie of the month in October, you know!!! Just kidding....:D Or no....lol

Maybe it's just me, but I enjoy reading the thoughts of people who have something interesting to say rather than a bunch of posts that just say "I agree", "that's cool" or "let's have a monthly popularity contest" for the tenth time, in order to raise their post count.
Seriously though, I just think a monthly popularity contest is a bad, bad idea.

It's never going to work. Favouring some people over others because they're lickarses, or post inane "contributions" to this website is not going to go down well at all.

I agree, & I think that's cool.

It's a good, good idea any time we implement a contest here that has the potential to sow dissension & discord, & to release pent-up & deep-seated animosity & perhaps even disgust among forum users. That's the sort of thing that keeps me entertained while I wait for tomorrow's broadcast of "Judge Judy."
