Either go to the middle of the stage, or, my favourite, eight feet to the left of Stevies mike, local security will try to keep you away from the stage before 19:50 hrs....... until Dean, (head of security for the band), informs the head of the local security that the band want people allowed up to the front of the stage, so..... best locations, (imho), #1) .... 8 feet to the left of Stevies mike, (between the speakers), #2) .... 6 feet to the right of Lindsey's mike, (between the speakers, &, in front Sharon, Jana, &, Lori), #3) .... dead centre, between Stevie, &, Lindsey's mikes, (DavidMn's preferred location), So, as my bf's son said last night, it's better to go do it, &, be successful, than to not do it, and wish you had, (what are they gonna do, send you back to your seat), BTW .... THIS HAS WORKED for me TEN OUT OF TEN TIMES in North America, &, The UK....... Go for it...... g. |

Got back last night but didnt have internet access so its now the following morning. It was absolutely bloody brilliant. They didn't let people up to the stage until the end of Monday Morning so there was a bit of a mad dash when they finally let people go up. I managed to get in between Stevie and Lindsay (with a few people in front of me) but manaaged to work my way directly to the stage for SS directly in front of Stevie. I was absolutely blown away by SS, her enthusiasm was like I havent seen her in years. I love it when she pulls the microphone back when she's really getting into it! She did that a few times last night. When I compare last night to when I saw them on the SYW tour, it kind of pi**es all over it in terms of Stevie's energy, she was so into it and clearly having a great time. There was a group of other young people I was stood with who were loving it, and S & L were equally loving it back! BTW, if anyone of those people are posters on here then let me know because I was loving your craziness!
I was also blown away by GDW which is also a huge improvement from the SYW tour, in fact Stevie's vocals generally are much better. She dedicated Landslide to an 80 year old Aussie lady who she met in a shop last time they were here in oz and she dedicated Sara to 'Sara'. I think there was a slight technical glitch at the start of Go Insane (Judging from Lindsay's face) and I think he got a bit confused at one point on Big Love, but managed to recover from it quite easily! I managed a hand shake from Lindsay at the end but unfortunately not one from Stevie, despite mine and another girl's incessant screaming of her name at the end (which to be fair, probably put her off anyway! But when in Rome...) I'm loving the new progressive start to Tusk and is it me or does Lindsay manage the high part on the chorus of GYOW? Storms was amazing. Im sure there's more to report but its a bit of a blur. Im now on a hunt to get a ticket for tonight's show. BTW I also went to Hunter Valley but was quite far back and right near a walk way which people would use to go get drinks, which seemed to be all the time (which might explain why I was also a bit worse for wear), which was quite distracting so the whole thing is a bit blurry. |
Oh I forgot, there was one point towards the end when John went over the Sharon, Lori and (I foget the other backing singer's name!) and they found it absolutely hilarious, I was thinking it was probably because John rarely ventures away from his standard spot on Mick's right??

Review - Fleetwood Mac rock Sydney at Acer Arena
By Kathy McCabe, Music Editor From: December 08, 2009 10:09AM
MUSIC is always at its most powerful when it pushes your memory buttons and Fleetwood Mac carressed and pummelled all those sweet spots at Acer Arena last night. - Fleetwood Mac rock Sydney The veteran band who ushered in the west-coast sound has lost none of its fire but gained the self-awareness afforded by survival in the music business, using their legendary tensions, relationship breakdowns and drug problems to introduce so many great songs from Rumours and beyond. How did you rate the concert last night? Tell us below. Stevie Nicks may shirk just a few high notes now and then but her rendition of the soaring Sara was enough to bring tears to your eyes. Lindsay Buckingham was in extraordinary form with his guitar solos and vocals but a little too in-your-face during those grunting moments. The men holding it all together were chalk and cheese _ bassist John McVie the understated engine room while the delicious craziness and astonishing energy levels of Mick Fleetwood were enough to keep you gasping. Hit after hit after hit, the setlist would represent the Holy Grail to any band who has only a couple of records under their belt. Almost the entirety of Rumours _ Go Your Own Way, Don't Stop, Dreams, Second hand News, Silver Springs, Never Going Back Again, Gold Dust Woman, The Chain _ plus Rhiannon, Tusk, Big Big Love and the beautiful Sara gave the devoted fans exactly what they wanted. Fleetwood Mac perform at Acer Arena again tonight. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ent...-1225808101553 |

FLEETWOOD MAC CONCERT LAST NIGHT!! Last night me & my family went to the Fleetwood Mac Concert!! Wow! They were so inspiring.. Even though they are an old school band, i grew up listening to them with my mum and dad, so i knew pretty much all of the songs. My parents went to their concert about 20yrs ago while my mum was pregnate with me, and she actually picked my name from one of their songs they perform, ‘Rhiannon’… Was so great to see them perform it live.. in fact im actually thinking of re-doing the song somehow!!! I thought i would put some background info on the song on my site for everyone to read xxx Some Info: Rhiannon is one the pop music’s most hauntingly beautiful songs. It was the song that sent the reformed Fleetwood Mac into the pop super league. The arrangement and interpretation of Rhiannon owes much to the other members of the band. Virtually everyone who hears Rhiannon is bound by its magical mystical spell. Numerous love children have been named by Rhiannon. Many believe Rhiannon was inspired by the Welsh Princess Rhiannon. The belief is probably reinforced by the line “Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night”, which is reminiscent of the Welsh saying ‘bell in every tooth’. The Welsh Language is rhythmic, which leads the Welsh to speak English in a similar rhythm. Other like to believe it is a the deep wish of an insecure woman to be loved ‘And wouldn’t you love to live her’, a wish reflected by a generation. Are either true?. The song was inspired by the novel ‘Triad’ by Mary Leader. It was later that Stevie Nicks came to be hear of the legend and so write “Angel” on Tusk. She also called her company “Welsh Witch Music”. The influences on us are varied. So who knows. Come to Celtic Wales, the Birth place of King Arther, the land of the last dragon, where beautiful girls abound and if you are anything like me, you will be spell bound and never leave. http://rhiannonvillareal.com/blog/?p=317 |

WOO just got back from Aussie! The show was BRILLIANT! My seats were far from amazing >< , but the show was soooooooo good and blew me away.
OH Also before the doors opened I decided to go for a walk around the Arena just for a look round, and i got to the back entrance where this guy was standing there waiting at the gate, and 5 seconds after i walk past him he goes "OK guys open up, we've got Nicks coming in" !!! I turn around and in comes this streched white limo, obviously with tinted windows, but still very exciting! It whized past and I asked the guy "that wasn't Stevie Nicks!" And he goes "Yep, sure was, ohh mind your self buddy, car behind you" OK it's only MICK FLEETWOOD sitting in a big Audi 4x4! The windows were down and i Shouted, "HEY MICK!" and he said "Hey! How ya doin" then they drove in! GOD right place right time, just wished i got out my bloody camera!!! I did get some pics of Micks car thoo  Im gonna post some pictures and do a review tomorrow since im tired and just got off the plane Zzzzz! OH and BTW Stevie didn't wear the Frankenbocks the whole concert!! Ive got pics, they were some (from what i could see) leather stilleto boots, very cool! |

EnchantedKiwi I love your pictures! They really show us the bigger picture on what it takes to set up a rock-n-roll show. I'm so glad you had a great time and I enjoyed your backstage story too.
|
^^Thanks for the story and the snaps. :xoxo: I would like to think that airport security seized the Frankenboks as potential weapons of mass destruction and that they will not appear on any of the remaining dates.
Did they do "Silver Springs" on the second night? |

OK sooo. The first thing I noticed (when playing the whitney houston adverts) is that the big screens are so much clearer in real life! OOO before the show they played some acoustic tracks, of just lindsey on his guitar, he played bleed to love her, beautiful child! annnnnd.. sisters of the moon!! I tried to record it on my phone cause it sounded so good! The opening act was boring, probably cuz i was so excited for fm aswell. When the crickets went on very one went crazy (well i did and i yelled "I LOVE YOU STEVIE") Monday Morning-Amazing set opener, Stevie seemed sooo happy in this song! The Chain-I love how Stevie goes "you would never break the chain, Ahhhhhhhhhhh NO!" and the bass line is soo much better in concert than on film! way better! Dreams-Very cool! Lindsey overpowers her during the chorus though, and makes it sound weird haha Gypsy-All the old people around me got soo excited when she ended the gypsy story with her "To the gypsies that he and I were"! She was soo fantastic, and i love the "HEY BABAY" Go Insane- I think there was something wrong at the start like Golddustboi said, cuz he kept looking at Brett i think, it sounded good though  Rhiannon-This made me love the song again!!! She looked so much better with heels on aswell! Sara-She dedicated it too Sara? Don't know which one. the hug seems so genuine! So much for not being an actor Stevie! Big Love-Oh my god! Standing ovation! Landslide-Top notch! The story was soo sweet, with margaret the 80 year old woman NGBA-Oh god! Lindsey nearly went comatose several times in this song  But still very cool! SYLM-Everyone sang along! and was very cool! Stevie was smiles the whole song! :D Gold Dust Woman- AMAZING and FREAKY haha, It was Stevie's finest hour! I'm So Afraid- The guy infront of me said he was bored (the kind of person that deserves to be shot) Lindsey got a standing ovation though! He truly is a god!! Stand Back-WOO Such a crowd pleaser! hahaha! GYOW- "STEVVVVAAYYYYY" haha so exciting when she came over at the end!, IT WAS FANTASTIC, (i wish i had some sort of criticism) World Turning and Don't Stop were great! But I was sooooooo excited when they did Silver Springs!!!! OH soooo amazing! she even added lib at the end after "GIVE ME JUST A CHANNNCEEE!" she was like quietly "give me ..just a.. chance...you could be my.." Welll i've got more vids to come that i shall post! Overall this was amazing and i'm sooo ready for New Plymouth!! |
Tis the Gypsy story that never ends :]

i prefer the frenchies too however, the red totally matches lindsey's shirt  and EnchantedKiwi i was telling GypsyBlueEyes about the SOTM instrumental...i didn't record it. but isn't it the most awesome **** EVER I swear it's Lindsey's guitar work, what do you reckon? and the crickets...when they started at my show, there was a guy behind me going WHAT is that...Why are they playing crickets...it has to be significant right? it was so funny |

It's almost as if they know we want Sisters of the moon and are just teasing us :distress: grrr haha |

I just know if I walked up to Lindsey and said something about SOTM he'd pretend that he didn't know what I was talking about. The idea that he actually did new guitar work on the song is thrilling. It's on their minds, for whatever that is worth. Michele |
Hey, was there a support act/band at the Syd concert? (I'm asking this about the Melb concert too)
I still don't know whether what I heard about it being Ella Hooper's new band is true. |

Hello all. I’ve been a lurker here at The Ledge for many years now, but this is a fitting topic to come out of the shadows for.
I’m still feeling a little awestruck over my first Fleetwood Mac experience. I grew up listening solely to my father’s LP collection for a good five years before I started to branch out and discover music for myself. Fleetwood Mac, and Stevie’s solo albums, featured prominently in my early musical education. Seeing the band play at Acer Arena in Sydney on Monday night was the first time I had seen any of them perform live. I took my Dad with me and it was his first time seeing them too. I’m lucky to have only had to wait about fifteen years; he had been waiting since 1975. It was a lovely tribute to both the transcendent power of music and the longevity of Fleetwood Mac, effectively bridging two generations of fans, each equally passionate about this group of musicians. The first moments of quiet excitement began when I realised the acoustic music coming out of the speakers between the support act and Fleetwood Mac was, as EnchantedKiwi said, instrumental guitar versions of a few obscure Mac tracks. Nobody else around me seemed to recognise them, so it felt like a secret tip of the hat to the diehard fans in the audience. Very, very cool. Did the American and European concerts start with an audio track of cricket noises before the lights went down too? It was a bizarre way to start the show. The volume was so loud that it almost sounded like a cacophony of cicadas (for the Aussies out there who know what I’m talking about) which felt like a nicely localised nod. We had fourth row seats and thanks to a crowd who were largely comfortable in their seats, I was able to stand at the stage a little to the left of Stevie. I was initially two or three people back but by the end of the show was practically leaning up against the stage. It is obvious that the ‘Unleashed’ tour has settled into a smooth routine - made even more obvious after I went to the Tuesday night show and noted the near identical patter - but that hasn’t lessened its potency. The arrangements are spot on (loved the slowly-revving-up intro for ‘Stand Back’, the slowed down ‘Never Going Back Again’, and the full band ‘Go Insane’!) and the band’s collective energy is unrivalled by anyone I’ve seen. There appears to be far less tension on this tour than the ‘Say You Will’ tour. We all know the ‘Sara’ hug is choreographed and Mick says more or less the same poignant platitudes every night, but the whole show exudes a warmth and if not a connectedness then a mutual respect for what the four members achieved together. That warmth seemed to be missing from the ‘Say You Will’ DVD. I’m sure that is in part due to a far stronger setlist on this tour and some brilliant moments of choreography. Lindsey’s collapse at the end of ‘Go Insane’, Stevie’s spotlight dance in ‘Never Going Back Again’, the silhouetted conclusion of ‘Gold Dust Woman’; all delightful touches that make this show the slick and highly affecting performance that it is. Lindsey’s voice is sounding better than it has in some time. The final note of ‘Go Insane’ had such a rich vibrato in it and ‘Never Going Back Again’ was perfect from start to finish. He came and stood directly in front of me for the ‘I’m So Afraid’ solo and I could see the drops of sweat rolling off his forehead and hitting the stage floor. It was an incredible moment and I can still recall the surge of emotion as I watched him play literally a metre away. Towards the end of the show while Stevie was singing, I turned to watch Lindsey and continued mouthing Stevie’s lyrics. He scanned the crowd and caught my eye, and acknowledged me with a smile. Possibly the best moment of my night. Stevie was everything I had imagined she would be and more. After reading some of the early press reviews that had described her performance on this tour as lacklustre and sluggish, I was surprised by the level of audience interaction (lots during ‘Gypsy’ - waving to fans on the ‘hey baby’ line, and copying some gestures fans were creating in the crowd) and Stevie’s energy levels throughout. Clearly she expends her energy in a different way to Lindsey, but she was positively delightful. By the end of the show, she had really loosened up and seemed to be genuinely enjoying herself during the encores. At the end of one of the encores, she looked in my direction and said ‘thank you’. I was too shocked by it to do much else other than gape and stare back with my mouth half hanging open, and it still feels entirely surreal. The second night was a little less visceral for me as I had seats further back on the arena floor and I knew nothing could top the experience I had on Monday. I was shocked by how different the performance of ‘Storms’ was. I don’t know what happened to Stevie on the Tuesday night but something in those lyrics must have resonated with her because she performed the song in such a different way. Instead of singing in her usual concert voice, it flipped into a scratchy tone not unlike ‘Rock A Little (Go Ahead Lily)’ and the pathos of the song seemed so much more tangible. Compared to the (still excellent) performance the night before, it felt like a completely different song. Stevie wore a different costume for ‘Silver Springs’, a black jacket with a white fur collar, and her delivery of the final section of that song was decidedly more impassioned too. Fleetwood Mac received an incredible reception from the Sydney audiences on both nights. It was a wonderful atmosphere to be a part of; to hear the collective sigh at the opening strains of ‘Sara’ and the shrieks of excitement when ‘Stand Back’ kicks into gear, and to see the entire arena on their feet for ‘Go Your Own Way’ was fairly spectacular. After having made such a strong connection with the band’s music over my lifetime, I felt blessed to have finally had a shared experience with them in concert. We are all so lucky to have this amazing band still performing and helping us to create new memories to familiar songs. There are a lot of fanbases out there who cannot boast that. x |
