I hope not. I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too obsessed with Lindsey's version. I miss The Dance's rendition of "Go Insane", too.

Agreed, compleatly! I thought he would do that slow version of Go Insane at the concert I went to because I hadn't watched videos of it from this tour and I didn't know he didn't play that version this time :( But the original version was kinda great tho, lol :blob2:

I want a full-band Big Love also. He can then do the Big Love treatment on other songs: Family Man? Eyes of the World? Save Me A Place? Red Rover? TITN?

I would love that! I love Lindsey's version but I would really like to hear a full band version, even if it was only for one time.

There's really nothing for the band (Stevie) to do during this song. The music video always makes me feel awkward because she's lip syncing, but you know her vocals aren't on the track.

Plus...if Lindsey started doing the song the same as he did back then, what would happen to his faith in cycles?!

Nobody should have to suffer listening to Family Man, particularly in concert when it's going to be another ten minutes long.

I would imagine this would re-affirm his faith in cycles. And Stevie could certainly be integrated into the number or it could be a chance for a costume change a la the current full-band "Go Insane".

Lindsey's guitar playing on this song is beautiful.

I don't know why people hate it so much. I loved Fanily Man from the moment I heard it. Still do.

I was listening to Tango In the Night today.

I wouldn't mind them playing an all our rock version of "Tango In The Night" proper. :)

Oh man I would LOVE to hear a full band version of Big Love live! That would be amazing. I love the acoustic verion too, but a full band would be a nice band. Since Lindsey changed his "Go Insane" song from acoustic to how it is on the CD with the full band. My friend showed it to me MONTHS ago..probably a little over a year ago and I fell in love with the full band version over the acoustic version.

So yea a full band version of Big Love would be amazing

I love the song Caroline! Family Man and Caroline are great tunes but Everywhere which most people loved, I can't stand.

No, the "stains" are "Welcome To The Room...Sara" & "When I See You Again". Stevie should've just sat that album out entirely.

I'm assuming that since you don't like "Family Man" or "Caroline" you're not much of an Out Of The Cradle fan, either? :shrug:

Ironically, Out of the Cradle is my favourite of Lindsey's solo albums. :laugh:

Ok, then how do you explain liking "Surrender The Rain" and not "Family Man"...and "This Is The Time", but not "Caroline"?? Pretty much the same type of songs with different lyrics.

Which is pretty much what he did with OotC...just replaced the songs that were used for TitN...

I've experimented by subbing those TitN songs in OotC, they fit seamlessly.

Chili, you're going on the fact that you know the notes are the same. If they don't sound the same to the average listener, they aren't the same song. For instance, I don't like Doing What I Can on the album and I like Big Love (live and studio). I did like Doing What I Can in concert, but I didn't think it sounded anything like Big Love (live or studio). Although if you tell me that as a playing guitarist they are the same song, I believe that. It doesn't change the sound. Tempo, vocals and lyrics do make a difference. They change the complexion.

I love 'Caroline' ,too. It's always been a favorite! As for the purpose of this thread, I would absolutely love to see "Big Love' sang more like the original live.

Different strokes for different folks. I can't explain why I like those songs but not Caroline and Family Man. You've also managed to name basically all of my favourite songs off Out of the Cradle too.

Anyway, Lindsey structures these songs in a different manner, and I think this album is the first where he considered using the lyrics to carry the song, not the other way around. Although, I agree with you about Doing What I Can - I've always found it almost identical to Big Love. Except the latter is slightly better, it's my favourite song off Tango in the Night. Which is why I want the full band treatment!

I like Doing what I can but can't stand the rest of OOTC. And I would love to hear a full band version of Big Love. Lindsey has performed it solo on 3 tours already. Some new arrangement or its original way would be preferable to me.

Since I am drawn to lyrics (and the story that the song is telling) first, and how the music backs them up is second in importance to me, once again, I have to jump in and defend the two Stevie songs, which are two of my favorite songs by any band at all. (If you pay close attention, you will hear that "whatsamaatababy" are not the only words to "When I See You Again".)

I'm not understanding the comparison of those two Lindsey "Tango" songs to the "Out Of The Cradle" album. The reason for my not liking "Family Man" and "Caroline" has to do with the inane lyrics that are a complete waste of my time. I am, however, an "Out Of The Cradle" fan. Most of the songs on "Out Of The Cradle" actually have something (serious) to say.

I agree. I don't mind those two songs much now but I would have rather had three more songs by Lindsey and Christine. You and I Pt. I is good and then we'd have had both of them together. Down Endless Streets as well. Something else by Christine would go down a treat since TITN has got one of her very best batches of songs.

And I love Caroline! I've always thought it was a great track.

I thought that it was no secret that LB experiments by using the same structures/paterns or whatever you wanna call it in certain songs?

That's why I always said that he's better when he "plays in the context" of the song or does something that's actually totally new, then he IS one of the best.

Anyone remember the video of stevie singing backup vocals with lindsey during big love on letterman?

I had forgotten about that! :lol: Still a really great performance, Stevie's vocals really add a new dimension to a classic. Cool how she adds "Yeah" at 2:33 -- I go nuts when Lindsey does it :D
