Album Points Ranking- The Wild Heart

Firstly, I wanted to thank all of those who participated in the Bella Donna round. I know this is kind of a different game, and the math kind of forces us to think a little bit- which is good for us!!! :] , but I think we all had fun in seeing which songs were kind of in a class of their own. So, rankings for Bella Donna are now closed, and here are the final results. The top 2 songs will be competing in the "All Star Round" at the end of all of this:

Standings

Edge of 17 677
Outside the rain 657 (-20)
Bella Donna 622 (-55)
How still my love 549 (-128)
Kind of Woman 490 (-187)
Think about it 432 (-245)
Stop Draggin 396 (-281)
Leather & Lace 384 (-293)
After the Glitter fades 338 (-339)
The Highwayman 324 (-353)

So really, the first three songs were really close, and then after that, there is a pretty steep drop off.

NOW- Time for The Wild Heart Album!!!!

My Choices/Current Standings

1. If Anyone Falls- 50
2. Nightbird- 45
3. Wild Heart- 40
4. Sable On Blond- 35
5. Nothing Ever Changes- 30
6. Stand Back- 27
7. Beauty and The Best- 24
8. Gate and Garden- 21
9. I Will Run To You- 18
10. Enchanted-15

Alright, these are my choices. I think, just because of the more polar opinions of these songs, this album will be closer than Bella Donna. Just a hunch!!! Anyway, enjoy voting all!!!

Much Love,
Ethan

One day, I'd love to learn why Stevie fans are so derisive towards "Gate and Garden". I'd start a "LET'S TALK ABOUT...", but, you know.

No, why don't you start a Let's Talk About thread. The thing is, the lyrics are stupid, imo and the music starts off really lame. You're just kind of sputtering and stuttering along. There's this gate and it has a garden and it is not heaven, but it can be guarded:confused:.

Eventually, however, the motor kicks in and those passionate, soaring vocals really redeem it. Man, I used to embarass myself singing (very badly) along with that one. Luckily, nobody kno-ows nothin' about it. They know nothin' about it.

Michele

I personally love the fact that the lyrics refer to something in the near future- reflecting the anticipation. How many SN songs can you say are positive?

I'm not denying the fact that the lyrics sound like something that never evolved past the stage of Stevie's original journal, but that just puts it in common with over half of her songs (see "Nightbird", and basically all of the "Bella Donna" album).

"My Booty" is a vibrato-bleating trainwreck. "Sable On Blond" is pure filler. Other than those two, "Wild Heart" is probably Stevie's best solo album. "Gate and Garden" is a treasure.
