First Fleetwood Mac Concert
 

12 years ago today, I went to my first Fleetwood Mac concert:) It was in Columbus, OH at Polaris Ampitheater. I was thrilled senseless! I'd been waiting to see them for SO long! Everything about it was perfect (at least it was to me!). I was wondering if anyone else here had attended that concert or if not, what was your first concert?

I still remember just about every detail of my first F/Mac concert back in 1977,Melbourne Aust Rockarena, outdoors with many other bands like Santana played, but I just wanted to see F/Mac I was lucky to see them all hanging together sitting around drinking, in a smoke filled circus tent & having a great time before going on stage, I made my way to the front row, right in front of Lindsay & Stevie, it was unreal!!!!!

12 years ago would have been The Dance Tour.

Mine was 19 years ago - Behind The Mask... Only thing I remember was the very beginning when the stage lifted up during the intro (Behind The Mask) revealing the band members on stage. Still think that was a great intro.

Oops you are correct and I feel like a fool. I saw Columbus and flew on top of that.

My first concert was 15 years ago now, for the Time tour in Raleigh, NC... if you can call that Fleetwood Mac, which I really don't. I didn't get to see the kids again until 6 years ago in Greenville, SC. They canceled their only Carolina date for the Dance Tour, and I was 15 at the time, and couldn't drive to go see them in Atlanta or other places. However, I did get to see them 3 times on the Say You Will tour... Greenvile, SC; Greensboro, NC; and Charlotte, NC. Haven't seen them since 2004... I decided against seeing the Unleashed tour for principal reasons... which I regret, and don't at the same time. I hate I didn't get to see Storms, but I hate even more that the kids are going the oldies route :mad:.

I still regret to this day not seeing them on THE DANCE tour.

First show was in June 2003 in Tampa. ;)

My second was in June 2003 in Atlanta!! Wonderful too! Though I really missed Christine... I had much better seats for this one than in 1997!

My first Fleetwood Mac concert was in Milwaukee on June 8th of this year. I had the greatest time of my life. I'll never forget that veritably gratifying experience of gazing at the stunning goddess Stevie Nicks in the flesh and watching Lindsey, ever the fireballing guitar god, frenetically shredding his guitar on stage, hearing those legendary voices singing my absolute favorite songs live and the phenomenal instrumentation, the atmosphere which was electric with excitement, the deafening applause from the crowd --it's nothing like I'd ever experienced before and it's my fondest memory to date.

My first one was the same tour as you, the Reunion tour 1997. But at NYC, MSG. I was upstair and a bit far, but great. Specially because the whole 5 gang was there.
My 2nd and last was this year at Dallas, great cause I was stuck to the stage, just near Lindsey. It was so exciting!!

Those were my only 2 FM concerts

Excellent! I'm going to start a thread next week to see who's all going to this gig and maybe arrange a place for some of us to meet beforehand, see who's up for that....

Mine was 1987, Tampa. I lived on campus and just walked up the block to the SunDome. Awesome!

Mine was in '82 Mirage tour in Detroit, MI...... I don't remember it though--just remember we had nose bleed seats :( Some day I will have a recording of this show!! SIGH!! I know it is out there but it seems everyone has it on cassette :shrug:

My first live Fleetwood Mac experience was August or September 1974...the taping of Don Kirshner's Rock Concert around the time that Heroes Are Hard To Find was released.

My first public Fleetwood Mac concert was a few months later in December 1974 at the Long Beach Arena. Climax Blues Band opened. It was one of the last shows of the tour, if not THE last show...and therefore, Bob Welch's last show as a member of Fleetwood Mac.

Just as a side note, the first TICKETS I ever bought for a Fleetwood Mac concert turned out to be one of the shows that WOULD'VE been the "Bogus Fleetwood Mac" that finished the Mystery To Me tour....a local DJ spread the word that the Fleetwood Mac on the road wasn't the "real" Fleetwood Mac, so I got a refund...had I known what a collector's item it would've been, I would've just eaten the cost of the ticket...but when you're 17 and money-poor, those ideas don't hit home quite so fast.

Can you tell a little bit about the show... Love to hear it..

My first show will be on 22nd October, in Glasgow. I can't wait!

August 13, 2003 in Kansas City then subsequently on August 15 in St. Louis... seems like so long ago... but it also seems just like yesterday too.

That's so funny-- today is the 8th year anniversary of my first Fleetwood Mac related show. It was Stevie at the Concord Pavillion. I met her at that show. October 1st must be a good day all the way around :)


My first FM show, however, was May 20th, 2009. Front row seats and the chance to meet Mick. When it comes to this band, apparently I have a trend of going big or going home....

Wow! That reminded me daniellaaarisen, I saw Stevie solo in Atlanta... Mustve been July '01? Great show. Hot as though.

That's the same tour I went to here in Houston. We had like 3rd row seats, but unfortunately, I don't remember a lot from this show, other than Stevie had on that red cape, singing Sara, and I was just mezmorized.. I also remember loving them singing "TUSK" as it sounded great...

First Fleetwood Mac show.. front row center, opening night of the SYW tour, Columbus, OH.

Stevie CANCELED the TISL shows I was to attend, even while adding additional shows to other markets. But I'm not bitter :)

My first show was on July 16, 1995 Time tour at the Rock Fest in Cadott Wisconsin. I was pretty underwhelmed but it was still a thrill to see Fleetwood Mac for the first time. First time with classic lineup was at the Riverfront Colesium in Cincinnati on 10-3-1997. I'll never forget driving 700 miles from Minnneapolis thru the night with no sleep to get to that show.:lol:

Hello Holidayroad & all: My only FM concert was Dec.1, 1979. On the "Tusk" tour at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. A great show, although Stevie was suffering with a throat problem (which was dealt with in 1980). Attendance was close to 23,000 which was a Dome record at the time. A very special, (and unforgettable) show.

Hey MacMan, did I get it right this time?

My first was june 15th 1988 for TiTn at the Ahoy' in Rotterdam. Same venue as the concert of 12 days ahead....

This makes 2 of us! I'm so excited! We should meet up beforehand, I suggested this to Lauren via facebook...

My first show was the Saavis Center, St. Louis, Missouri- 2003 (or maybe '04). We traveled all the way from Louisville for our not so stellar seats- we didn't know all the secrets back then- but we LOOOOOVED the show. I was a brand new FM fan, and still there were only 4 or so songs that I didn't know. It was an incredible evening. I remember my mom and sister went to the bathroom during Beautiful Child- one of the songs I didn't know. My dad and I got to tell them about how awesome it was!!

We also went to Nashville at the Startwood Ampitheater, and this was my first experience with floor seats. It was, at that point, the most exciting evening of my life musically!!!!


Then came 3rd row in Columbus, Ohio- 2009!!!!!!

I’ve been lurking, but this thread makes me giddy and I had to share. July of 1978, Fleetwood Mac sold out 2 shows at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. They added a third show, I MADE my first husband and his friend, drive from Clinton, Iowa to Rockford, IL, in the middle of the night, to get to the nearest ticket box office to be the first in line. They did, they were and we had 10th row, center:]. We got to the venue early, partied in the parking lot, and saw the helicopter bring the group in. I was 18 years old (yeah, it wasn’t unusual to marry young back then) :rolleyes:, and we were blown away by the music. First, Walter Egan opened. Nice. My husband, God rest his soul:angel:, swore that when Stevie sang Rhiannon, she floated through the air…LOL...yeah, she did the crouch down thing and stood up very slowly, with the wind blowing her “wings” and hair. It was beautiful, I was hooked. Lindsay’s big curly “fro” bouncing back and forth with the scream of his guitar…..Crazy Mick and quiet John…..Christine ending the show with Songbird….God, I love going back to that place and time. :thumbsup:

A friend of mine once told me when she saw FM back in those days at some outdoor venue, when Stevie lifted her arms into those batwings a huge gust of wind blew out of nowhere and knocked over some of the speakers.

Well, they were pretty much similar to the Will The Real Fleetwood Mac Please Stand Up?, Live In Chicago 1974 & Live At Hempstead NY bootlegs, except they played a few more &/or different tunes.

It was May 2003 in Nashville. I had nosebleeds, but I was so excited to see them I really didn't care.

First concert for me was September of 1997 on the Dance tour. I was 8 years old and my mother took me. We had 24th row center section and I had never been to a concert before. I was absolutely terrified when everyone started yelling hahaha! But when they came out I was just in awe and I totally thought Stevie was waving at me!!

I remember Stevie in a long white jacket, she looked chilly. I remember when they did 'Everywhere' everyone went crazy when Christine sang the high part. After Gold Dust Woman Stevie said it was great to be back in Boston. I remember when she went backstage for ISA she almost got stuck inbetween the speakers because the space was so small.

I was baffled by Lindsey's 'Sardonic World' poem, didn't really know what it was about. I remember Stevie re-entered in like a Harry Potter robe/cloak that I hated haha! I was very upset because my mother spilled my popcorn during 'Sweet Girl'. There was some obnoxious fat lady behind us that was yelling at me (an 8 year old) because I was standing up and dancing.

The whole day of the concert I kept arguing with my mother that they would absolutely do 'Second Hand News' (it was my favorite song at the time). And she was like, no, no, no. My concert happened to be the night they dropped Eyes of the World and added Second Hand News. I remember when they started it, I looked at my mom and literally was like "TOLD YA SO."

I was so excited when Stand Back started, but I was so confused as to why Stevie was in a different cape. I was hoping for the big one with the dots, but she had a silvery one and wore it differently.

No one seems to believe me, but when Mick and Lindsey were doing their thing on NTF, I saw Christine smoking a cigarette on the side of the stage! I was also convinced that the USC marching band would come on stage and do 'Tusk' with them, but of course they didn't (I was such an optimistic child).

Honestly, even though it was great to see them all, I think it was the worst of all the Mac shows I saw. They were musically all over the place.

Wow. We all know Stevie has a powerful presence when on stage..........

I know, right? I will never, ever forget it. It will always be the #1 show in my book.:)
