Pre-Rumours Outfits

Idk why she disliked them so much. I liked the cute little midriff shirts! I guess maybe she didn't want to show her body off which I don't blame her. Don't get me wrong I think she looks just as good in the "witchy outfits", but some of her pre rumours outfits looked good too. I wish I could find some good pics but can't find the ones I wanted to post.

I like mom-jeans look as much as anyone else
but she seemed to want a style to set her apart from any other female rocker.
how many rockers wear jeans? now, how many rockers wear shawls, top hats, platform boots, cresent moon necklaces, etc?

I can only think of one.

Oh please, those are not mom-jeans! They sit just a smidge below the natural waist, so they aren't quite in mom-territory. But already you could tell even then that she had pronounced pear-shape tendencies and even had some muffin-top action going on. So even a little bit of road bloat would make her look zaftig. So I can totally understand why she chose to go the more ethereal route. Since she wasn't going to devote her life to eating celery and living at the gym, this was pretty much the only way for her to go...

It's cute. Can you imagine if an interviewer showed Stevie that picture and asked her if she would have ever considered getting a navel piercing, if they were available at the time? She'd lecture him on the dangers of such a thing for 2 hours straight. It would be so funny.

coupled with a seemingly 8 inch zipper....
I had reason to believe they were at least closing in on mom-jean territory

as were these...notice her butt looks flat. a key clue when looking for mom-jeans.

but I digress....I like both the simple, early look and the ethereal, witchy woman look.

YES!!! I want to see that interview...someone just has to ask her that now!!! Can't you just see it...she would be deathly serious about it and she'd have that really intense Stevie look on her face

Stevie in jeans rocks. She should totally ditch the black dress and freak everybody out one night sporting some bell bottoms. Her 'boks would be kinda covered too...

Stevie - I DARE YOU. Go BN retro on us just once. :D

I'm all about the witchy. It just fits who she is so much more... I know she says that her stage persona is completely detached from her "day-to-day" self but I honestly believe the ethereal carries between both characters.

Back at the height of her fame those lines were very blurred..far more than they are these days.

galestreet 10-01-2009 02:56 AM

those bell bottom blues

I so love her in jeans! It makes me think of a whole new arsenal of songs!

I get what you're saying but it's not that for me. I don't "need" her to be all suited up in her superwoman costume in order to get the whole vibe of her etherealness. I would just love to see the real hippie in her come out and play for once instead feeling like she HAS to be "in character". Get back to basics...

goldustsongbird 10-01-2009 06:09 PM

I get your point, and I agree-- videos we have like "Rhiannon" from Landover '75 show that she can still pull off the ethereal without the full getup. I just wish I could wear clothes like that on a day-to-day basis and my jealousy blinds me from understanding why she would ever wear "normal" clothes :)
