Timespace Tour Stories
Here is the Timespace Tour Stories thread! If you went to see Stevie on this very short 23 date tour, share your stories here! To start off, when and where did you see her? And anything else you can remember from that night.
Stevie had a lot of different band mates for this one, compared to previous tours. I wonder why? Arrangements were changed for some of the songs...I don't know much about this small tour, so please tell us your memories. |

I saw the gigs at Concord & Mountain View. I was really disheartened by this time about the whole scene & the direction in which she was going. I thought it was all so ridiculous, & the fans were getting annoying, too -- many of them were insane, I felt. After each tour stop, they'd send in their reviews to the fanzines & rave about how beautifully this zonked-out lethargic woman was singing, & I felt more estranged than ever from their views. (Dozens of them continually raved about how this was the best Stevie had ever been.) I felt that a particular type of weirdo -- unable to hear, unable to see, & unable to formulate a coherent thought -- had co-opted the whole fan base. At Concord, which came first in that region of California, I wondered why Lori wasn't performing. Stevie didn't say anything about it until Mountain View, when she told us Lori was pregnant. Stevie had a great saxophone player on this tour. He was the one cool musician in the whole band. He wailed on If Anyone Falls. The next solo tour, in 1994, partially reinvigorated Stevie for me. I was so relieved to hear pitch, timbre, & most of all vibrato again. |

When you've seen the places written in a song it takes on an even more meaningful feeling. David how can you say no one was aware of this record? What month did you see her in concert? I don't know why I'm asking, you probably won't answer me anyway... Just around the corner from Stevie's former Paradise Valley home is a street called White Winged Way. And a few miles from there is a street called Gold Dust Blvd. JTIS |

From USA Today, 11/11/1991
Hear Stevie Nicks perform ... her first club date Thursday at 10 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST on Entertainment Radio Network. Nicks' private show at the Whiskey a Go-Go in L.A. coincides with the release of her single 'Love's a Hard Game to Play.' From a Los Angeles Times article dated August 10, 1991 called Rock Ain't Rollin', Prices Up, Attendance Down Nationwide "The industry is choking on greed," said Carl Freed, executive director of the New York-based North American Concert Promoters Assn., which represents most of the nation's major promoters. "From the band to the concessionaire, everybody seems to be out for themselves." Industry observers also cite the current absence of top-name concert draws such as Madonna as a point of concern. Still, most are at a loss to explain why such pop stars as Whitney Houston and Stevie Nicks have been unable to attract more than marginal crowds at numerous stops on their national tours. (Nicks is slated to play Irvine Meadows Aug. 18; Jabobs said sales for the date are "OK... very few people are doing great business this summer.") |

Now Bill Gamelson apparently camp-followed this tour, so he (& guys like him) probably knew about an upcoming album. |
Well this show was incredibly special for me because it was after this show (In Philly) that I got to meet Stevie. The show itself was pretty good...the crowd was really into it and it was definitely one of the better performances from the klonopin era. She was engaged, energetic and seemed to enjoying herself. Yes, her singing was flat but that's kinda a given between '89 and '91. The band sounded great and "filled in" for what Stevie was lacking during that time. I have this show on VHS and always watch it with very fond memories.

On This very short tour in 1991 stevie was supposed to play at Lake Compounce in Bristol Connecticut I had 10th row seats center isle seat i believe and this show was cancelled the day of the show they said it was due to the weather and it was a grey raining on and off not to bad if i recall but the venue was having money problems that year alot of shows were being cancelled that year at the venue Stevie's show was the only one that was cancelled the day of if i remember they cancelled it early afternoon thats how close it was it was strange they said it was not cancelled due to poor sales. After the summer of 1991 that venue never had concerts there again. i was so disappointed about the show being cancelled just though it was strange that it was cancelled due to the light rain was going on that day ticket does say rain or shine on the ticket and the stage is covered but the seating was not covered so was bummed about the show being cancelled wish i got to see her at Jones beach in New York or Great Woods at Mansfield Mass. before getting my money back on the ticket i made a copy of the ticket still have it Bud Dry sponsored the tour and the ticket was $27.25 for 10th row center Isle seat that was for July 25th 1991 at lake compounce festival park in bristol connecticut.
