Senior Quotes

I just remembered that my senior quote is due tomorrow. I'm definitely considering any and all Fleetwood Mac lyrics, so post em! In terms of other quotations.... you guys have a fairly good idea of what I'm like, so ANY recommendations are welcome. I'm freaking out. :/

FMlex 09-24-2009 06:50 PM

First of all, I'm super jealous that you guys get senior quotes.
My high school graduating class didn't get that -- crazy, right? Kind of bums me out. I would have for sure used a FM/Stevie lyric or quote.

Second of all, there's too many good quotes out there.
I'd probably end up posting Stevie lyrics that are really depressing so I'll let someone else help ya out! ;)

Can't wait to hear your final decision!

"Well, who knows
Have we really changed?
Some say we have
Reflecting our past
Who can say?"

I love this one. It's a Stevie quote, but I'm not sure from what song.

FMlex 09-24-2009 07:26 PM

^ "Races are Run"!!!

Love that one

"If you're gonna go up and down that road,
you might as well see everything."

GypsySorcerer 09-24-2009 09:03 PM

We didn't get to do senior quotes.

And the days go by like a strand in the wind
In the web that is my own, I begin again.

Musicman408 09-24-2009 09:10 PM

"Step into the velvet of the morning,
let yourself lay back within your dreams."

That was mine, anyway!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this and part of the Edge of Seventeen quote: "In the web that is my own, I begin again".

You are too intelligent to use this phrase. It sounds good to us but they'll think you are stoned. Plus to them a web will define you as a spider.

I'm having major issues. I think I have one that makes a LOT of sense but only to people who know me well.... and its more humorous. I donno. I give up.

I gotta agree with this; I'd suggest using something that will pretty much make sense to everyone;

or at least will make sense to your friends.

Boy, am I glad that I knew well enough even at the time not to give a whit of importance or significance to what happened in high school.

I don't even know if we had "Senior Quotes" in our yearbook- I certainly didn't/don't care. For those of you who didn't, you've got to admit you really didn't miss much, be honest ;)

Erin 09-25-2009 09:14 AM

^^
Yeah, mine was "I came, I saw, I left."

I wouldn't use a Stevie quote. Do something original if it's that important to you.

I agree. It's not really your quote if you use words someone else is famous for. It's even less memorable if you use a quote from someone else that you had to get from a suggestion. Unless by "senior quote" they meant quotes by seniors, and then using one from Stevie would be fine ;)

"I came, I saw, I left" is a good one!

daniellaaarisen 09-25-2009 05:11 PM

I feel like quoting oneself is really pretentious though... especially since I'm a "creative witer" so I would naturally go way overboard anyway.

:/

camchristo 09-25-2009 08:24 PM

I've never heard of a senior quote. What does one do with a senior quote?

JWS 09-25-2009 09:13 PM

How 'bout "I'm not a witch"

Basically, it goes underneath your senior portrait in a school yearbook. Most people either put cliche inspirational phrases or inside jokes.

FMlex 09-28-2009 10:31 AM

Hey Dani, what'd you finally decide on?

Just curious! :)

"I rant, therefore I am" - Dennis Miller

The name of the man quoted is a significant aspect of the meaning hahah.... it's my name and my old English teacher/pseudo mother/part time therapist's name in one. We rant to a each other a lot... I rant a lot in general, and the philosophical undertone is the right amount of pretentious humor to perfectly describe me, I think :)

Awesome! That connection is too funny!

Mine was "Don't you know you're going to shock the monkey?"

Everyone else was worried about putting something meaningful down that would inspire the generations or whatever, and I figured Peter Gabriel is as inspiring as it gets.

Either that or I'm just an ass. Both are equally as likely.

.

I swear I've never understood that song.

Most 80s songs, I've felt like I "got" them right away - - -
This one? I'm still scratching my head all these years later.

Yeah, I'm not sure I understand it, either. But it's still a great song! I read somewhere that Gabriel said it was about jealousy.

Quoting Peter Gabriel does not make you an ass. It makes you a genius.

I totally agree.

By the way as far as music in general and yearbook quotes,

I think that maybe "one thing that really appeals to me is this idea of music being a living thing that has an evolution that, in a way, enables the artist to sell a process rather than a piece of product."

Peter Gabriel quote, of course. . . . . :wavey: . . . . http://www.sevenwondersonline.net/Sm...sic/giggle.gif

Well now, not going to argue with a compliment like that. ;) Thank you!
