Favorite "Lindseyisms"

Kind of felt LB's board needed some more love.:xoxo:

Nothing specific, just things that keep the love going for you. Right now for me...

1. The way he acts right here:

2. The song "Bleed to Love Her" because it is perfection.

3. His over-pretentious, cerebral way of expressing himself, like instead of saying "I see a cat over there" he'll say "In my glories of vision I detect a feline within my proximity" or some such overdone language. it's endearing...

4. This expression: http://sumoflam.biz/images/TroubsBio...Buckingham.jpg why can't he look like that all the time?

5. Tusk the album and everything about it.

6. His hair because it's really quite perfect and even at it's most heinous (imo "Go Insane" period) I'm sure millions of guys his age wish they had half of it.

7. This video!!!!!>

8. Out of the Cradle...always and forever.

9. The song Underground because it's honest, melodic, and I never tire of it.

10. Every date of the "Released" tour in the states...I may not have been at every show but I'm pretty sure that he rocked the casbah.

11. Coming off that last part...his love for the Clash and once saying he wished he was in it. That'd be too much greatness right there.

12. His taste in music. Go LB!!

13. The song "Secondhand News" live. Because it kills.

.....more later....

Hahahaha! Absolutely. I used to find this so damn annoying, and still do sometimes, but usually it just makes me crack up.

GypsyBlueEyes 08-26-2009 01:55 AM

ahahahaha...I love #1 simply because he didn't have a chance in hell of getting Stevie to change that line...gotta love him for trying though

and the overdone language/cat bit ...that made me LOL

Black_Moon 08-26-2009 03:25 AM

I've just creased at what he wrote about Eminem on his music list. Hahahahaha.

goldustsongbird 08-26-2009 04:28 PM

"In my glories of vision I detect a feline within my proximity" - sounds like an Engrish translation of Rhiannon!

I love the way he moves when he plays guitar. I'll call it movement, because it really isn't dancing. The way he stomps across the stage. Kind of like in this performance, after the orgasm thing.

(Let me take this opportunity to recommend that if you have the Mirage show on DVD, do yourself a favour and watch it without sound on fast forward  )

I know, right? Well, at least he gets it with Thom Yorke.

14. The white shirt look...I want more of it.

15. Everything about him on The Dance. Dayum.:xoxo:

I have to admit, I would love to have his quaff.

2 minutes into this video...the foot thing.

WARNING: Honesty ahead.

The OOTC era is the last time Lindsey really surprised me with his playing/singing. When I listen to the OOTC shows and things like the David Letterman songs, I get so upset because he's doing things on his guitar and singing like he never did again. :distress: If you listen to him playing Go Insane in 1993 during the New York OOTC tour, you'll FLIP OUT. The Dance ain't got NOTHING on his playing back then. Plus, his vocals...I get that his voice is older and has changed, but he can still play around with melodies. There is NO reason he cannot. I just want him to play around more.

Now that I've ranted a bit, back to 100% lovin'.

You know, the man could murder someone and I'd STILL love him, just for I'm So Afraid and Red Rover alone. Those songs...I can't explain in words how much I love them.

The goofy a$$ faces he makes in almost every fan photo. Cracks me up!

His approachable-ness is wonderful.

The fact that he and his Turner are joined in some spiritual union. LOL

He sometimes wears sh*tty clothes, but doesn't give a flyin' crapola.

One word: EYES.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...indsey-PM1.jpg

The night I'll never forget:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ithLindsey.jpg

Nico 08-26-2009 09:05 PM

Christy: thank you for your entire post! I'm calling you by your first name now since we've met in person and I think you're cool.:xoxo:

OMG, the EYES. Lindsey really has one of the most gorgeous set of eyes I have ever seen. The eyes are so my number 16.

17. The total lack of fashion. I think at one point he may have had a bit but these days it's total generic monochromatic simpleness. And that's putting it nicely. However, it means he could care less and I want to love him more just for that.

18. The fact that he has a big black poodle. I mean, it's probably Kristen's but still...it's kind of funny.

19. This pic: http://www.fleetwoodmac.net/penguin/...s/lindsey1.jpg because it shows he had it when he was 10. And he even dresses the same.

20.Under the Skin because I think it's his best album lyrically and I think he was wearing his poet hat quite a bit there.

21. "Live in Boston" Eyes of the World performance, or why I love this man.

22. Every pic of him with with the kids, but especially this one:
http://www.fleetwoodmac-uk.com/image...ey&leelee2.jpg

23. How he looks right here:

24. Shut Us Down...and how he performs it here:

25. His love for Blonde on Blonde and I Want You (because that was my fave Dylan song for two years straight in middle school).

26. His bitchiness. And the fact that he won't deny he's a little bitch. Plus the fact that WE can't deny he's a bitch. But, still...what a guy.

27. October 22, 2006...:xoxo::blob2::blob1: Because he put on one of the greatest shows of my life and took the time to engage his fans with a genuineness I still am floored by...and because he was a DOLL to me. And the eyes were 100 x more perfect-looking in real-life...oh LB.

hippilil86 08-26-2009 09:31 PM

I love this performance!

and the fact that this one exists is hilarious. kind of a controversial subject for a 10 year old to be singing about, right?

michelej1 08-26-2009 10:18 PM

I love his sense of humor and his deviltry.

Christy mentioned that he and his Turner are joined. I love the way he can play guitar almost absentmindedly sometimes. His intensity during a solo is fine, but I also love it when his hand is doing one thing and his head seems to be completely detached from that and he is having entire conversations, while playing the guitar. He does this when he has silent conversations with audience members during a show, but also in some of the backstage footage with the band. He'll be playing the guitar and having a conversation with Richard about heaven knows what. It is indeed like an extension of his body, both in the grand sense and the mundane. He twiddles it like his fingers.

Michele

wondergirl9847 08-27-2009 12:11 AM

Exactly, Michele.

Another thing I love, that popped into my head while watching this video...Lindsey's squeaky girly voice. :D

Thanks Nico...you're cool too.

28. This whacko interview and his total nonchalance and expression around 4:29 in...priceless:

29. The Go Insane live arm thing he does during the "going insane" parts. I frigg'n LOVE that.

30. ***sigh*** the gray suit he wore at MY concert in Columbus. Because he changed it up and I thought it was most becoming.

31. The fact that Stevie always mentions about him having daugters and now having to escort them to ballet, tap, jazz, piano, etc. classes- hopefully willingly- and dealing with the day-to-day life of being surrounded by females. That's just cute to think about!

32. Gift of Screws and the fact that I'm pretty sure he changed the title of Twist of Fate and acts like he doesn't have a clue what we're talking about...best song on the album for me, though.

33. This vid:

Because he looks HAWT, seems uber-cocky, and sounds like one of the Chipmunks. Oh Lindsey...there's only one of you...:xoxo:

Oh totally. He knows.

That's a Lindseyism right there. He's always acting like he doesn't know something, just to be perverse and contrary. For instance, when we asked him about the old demos called "Gift of Screws" he would say something like, "I'm not sure the proposed album ever had a title." He knows it had a title and he knows that title was GOS. Why was he pretending that didn't happen?

It's like Charles Boyer deliberately freaking Ingrid Bergman out in Gaslight, pretending that the lantern wasn't on when he knows it was.

That's right Michele. I wonder if it's connected with being the youngest kid or some psychological need for attention where the person perpetrates ignorance of a subject or immaturity on some matter only to incite more heated discussion, questions, attention, etc. It seems a little devious and, well, SO Lindsey.

Like, for example, acting in one interview as if he didn't know he had a Myspace account when you know- as does everyone- that this man probably keeps the reigns close to home on anything pertaining to his career...and if he doesn't his wife is certainly quick enough to get all that to him ASAP. Puhlease Lindsey! All that fake modesty...;)

Speaking of...

34. His fake humbleness. Ok, ok...I know the dearly devoted LBers are going to trip that I use that terminology, but let's be honest with ourselves. This man knows he is one of the greatest things to ever touch a guitar that any of us are blessed enough to experience. All that heart-pounding, head-bowing, fist-clenching is just good old show. And I eat it all up, and welcome more...in fact, anyone got some vids? I daresay a compilation vid should be made.

Package is pretty perfect.

Nice to see the eras all lined up like that. Only a Fritz era/high school picture is missing.

I wish we had more pictures of Will. I would like to compare. Michele

I love that clip for the fact that Lindsey brought up a big point about my problem with Stevie's lyrics; one of her weak points as a songwriter -- her tenses are all over the place, rendering many of her lyrics confusing if not nearly incomprehensible. And Stevie bringing up Bob Dylan as her defense!!?? She's so ridiculous sometimes.

With her solo career I think she surrounds herself with "yes men"; people who won't challenge her too much, and sometimes her work has suffered for it.

Maybe that's why she's somewhat cantankerous towards Lindsey...because he doesn't buy her $H*% that easily. He's not overly impressed, although it was quite lovely in Destiny Rules when, after hearing those demos (which sounded awful to me, but who am I?) he was so full of praise for her. Stevie, likewise, doesn't act all impressed with Lindsey. The little bored expressions bordering on full-blown yawns when he's doing his solos during songs they harmonize on? Secretly, they know how good the other is but they just want to give them a little more of a push to see how they can challenge themselves.

Re: Stevie's lyrics...I think she's quite long-winded and scatterbrained but I honestly think some of it is just sooooo beautiful, like Wild Heart and Gypsy and Angel. Those types of songs I just adore. A lot of her stuff on SYW just grates on my nerves, and I completely hate anything of hers where the production is so muddled and it drowns away the beauty of her voice. I love the Tusk stuff the most, and then solo her Wild Heart songs are my favorites. And then that Touched By an Angel song is my fave soundtrack tune...

Yikes, I've turned this into a Stevie post. Ok, back OT...

36. The red shirt. (Because it's better than the black)

Lala 10-26-2009 10:15 PM

Love everything mentioned here to far.

Here's a new one...

The fact that sometimes, when he's soloing, say at the end of ISA or Come, he slides his hands up and down the neck of his guitar, almost as if it were an extension of his member.

7:00 onward!

This will sound perverted, but I really love the fact that he seems to get off a little bit during most of his guitar solo's, mostly because you know he's really enjoying what he's doing and still has a passion for playing. Musicians get how truly good that feels.

holidayroad 10-27-2009 12:17 PM

Oh there's so much to love about Lindsey!! Against popular opinion, though, I love the 'Go Insane' hairdo!! Of course, that's the way I first remember him looking because '84 is when I became a fan! Love his clothes from then too, but it's probably good he didn't stick with them!

Oh, I love that hair. I feel that it tells me so much about him. I mean, especially when it's just inches away from his stormy eyes. But even if you edited out the head and just showed the hair, I sense Lindsey's essence in those taut curls.

I was wearing a t-shirt from the OOTC album liner at the last Unleashed concert in America and it showed Lindsey sitting at the console, just the back of his head. I loved that image. His hair wild. Lindsey motioned to me at the end of the concert and said, "I like your shirt." I said, "I know.":blob1:.

I love images of him where I feel his hair is talking.

Glad someone else loves the 'Go Insane' hair! Lucky you to talk to Lindsey! I'd probably be speechless!

Nico 10-27-2009 04:43 PM

His Go Insane hair is so him that I could never regret that he did it. It epitomizes who he is, jumping from one style to another and kind of "mad scientist" looking as well. He is kind of insane, though. I love that about him.

Good on you Michele (re: LB complimenting of shirt)!

I just noticed that the baby LB and the cropped hair/aviator LB have the same scrunched-nose expression. How darling! I looked for an old LB doing the same and this was the best I could find:

I have a friend who has this whole speech about how Lindsey's Go Insane hair is his homage to/response to/improvement upon Lynch's Eraserhead.

Well, I guess it wasn't really like talking, since we were quite a distance from one another, but I still was very happy.

I consciously do NOT make eye contact with Lindsey, so when he caught my attention I was pretty thrilled. Also, I was glad that he recognized the picture on the shirt. I have another shirt using a picture from Mick's book, with Lindsey's back to the camera and I want to wear it, but I want to make sure Lindsey knows it's him. If he's not going to recognize it, I'd just as soon wear a GOS shirt. Michele

38. Turning "road" into a ten-syllable word.

39. His faith in cycles, and how making an album is like making a movie or painting a picture, and how he and Stevie were a package deal, and his faith in cycles. ISN'T THAT WEIRD??

To consciously not make eye contact with Lindsey would be a major effort for me! I'd probably stare at him so long that he'd think something was wrong with me! Are there any shirts from the 'Go Insane' cover? I need one!

Seriously, though. This weekend in Dublin I was blown away by how generous Lindsey was to the fans standing at the stage. All night he was looking down, smiling, pointing, staring into cameras for photographs, making eye contact and funny faces and generally being completely un-aloof and giving so much of himself. I was completely unprepared for that. I would never have dreamed of being so close to him, let alone to be sharing even the briefest smile with him -- and he gave me and the other fans at his side of the stage so much more than a brief smile. I hope he knows just how mind-blowingly stonking happy that made us :D
