Fleetwood Mac In NZ!
Just saw this on http://nickslive.blogspot.com/
Details are a little hazy but Ticket Master have begun inviting people to pre-order - see here Other sources point at 1 show only, December 29, at the Bowl of Brooklyn, New Plymouth. Stay tuned for full event details :D :D sooooo excited. |
I only hope I can afford to go when they do show up! ;)
|
That bodes well for Australia. Start saving, kids!
|
Looks like Australia will get a visit of FM sooner as i thought. 29 december is a strange date. Why not wait until January or perhaps FM is celebrating the new year in Australia....... Anyway i'm happy for the fans over there:wavey:

Prolly won't go cause... they won't play in Wellington for sure. So it'll be the cost of the two tickets plus a trip to wherever they will be (If it's not Auckland I'll be shocked). |
Stuff.co.nz, August 8, 2009
http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment...c-mystery-show Fleetwood Mac mystery show British-American band Fleetwood Mac are to perform in New Zealand. Ticket agency Ticketmaster is advertising on its website that the band will perform one show in New Zealand, but without listing the city or date. It has asked people to supply their email addresses so they can be contacted when the city and date are confirmed. Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks performed at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth in 2006 and there is speculation that the band will perform there. New Plymouth District Council's manager for business developments and events, Garry Sharpe-Young, declined to comment on whether it would be Bowl of Brooklands. But he said he understood an announcement would be made soon. "Some acts are perfectly suited to certain types of venues and I'm a great believer that we've got the iconic New Zealand venue. We'll wait and see." |
I am reliably informed that date is wrong. I think it is December the 19th, not the 29th.
It is an incredible venue. I saw Jack Johnson and REM there. Stage in front of the water. I agree with above, perfect atmosphere for Fleetwood Mac!! |
so they're touring NZ before Oz?
that doesn't make sense if FM are in NZ mid Dec.....then that means they would do Oz in late Oct/Nov no? dammit.......why am i going to mexico i want them to be in Oz in the new yearrrrrrrrrrrrrr |
I would think Australia must be fore New Zealand because other wise they will be hitting Christmas and New Year in between. If it is New Plymouth, I'm stoked! Quite a travel (but so is Auckland) but well worth it.
An amazing Christmas present!!! |
Well, i think more tourdates for New Zealand and Austrailia will soon follow........... How many gigs will they do over there? Here in Europe it was a bit of surprise because FM will give concerts in Holland, Belgium, France, Sweden and they have not been there for many many years..........

Searching online I can only find Fleetwood Mac shows in New Zealand in 1980. Did they play here after that? Can't believe they have not been back in 29 years!! Mind you, The Who left it 40 years!
Mylittledemon - you have to make the road trip to go see them! |
I *believe* Fleetwood Mac came to NZ on the Say You Will tour at some point? Maybe a show in Auckland? Can't be sure about that.
I would like to go but if its gonna' cost a fortune, prolly won't happen. |

I reckon they should play western springs for old times sake, maybe jokingly relive the Guitar throwing incident  |

Council keeping mum on Fleetwood Mac
Taranaki Daily News Last updated 05:00 10/08/2009
Rumours are rife that iconic rock group Fleetwood Mac could play the Bowl of Brooklands as part of its 2009 tour. Stuff.co.nz has quoted ticketing agency Ticketmaster as saying the band is coming to New Zealand but is not saying where the show might be. But stevie-nicks-news.com, an unofficial fan site for the band's vocalist, suggests the TSB Bowl of Brooklands will be the venue for a single New Zealand concert in December. New Plymouth District Council spokespeople were tight-lipped yesterday, neither confirming nor denying the New Plymouth event. Stevie Nicks performed at the Bowl in March 2006 in a double billing with John Farnham. http://www.stuff.co.nz/taranaki-dail...-Fleetwood-Mac |
Think it wil probably be Auckland vector arena, could be New Plymouth because they had Elton John, Jack Johnson, and probably Christchurch. fter reading the USA tour reviews I cannot wait!!
|
So, according to the leaked Aussie dates its just the one NZ show in Christchurch! Bowl of Brooklands was obviously wishful thinking! Now to save some $ for the ferry!!

Wellington is fesable because its the most central place in the country and U2 are playing two shows at the caketin, new plymouth maybe, because its an ideal venue, but i really believe it will be in Auckland because its the biggest city, with the best choice of venues, e.g vector arena, western springs, mt smart stadium. I think Jana just put it there because it was the last city they went to in Aus and nz on Stevie's gold dust tour in 2006 |

i think the plane there costs more than it does to fly to the US  |

But flights are cheap! On air nz without any deals, the full price is $300 return which is pretty good, since you can usually get them cheaper than that https://flightbookings.airnewzealand...zealand.co.nz& |
Enchanted Kiwi - Bon Jovi played 1 NZ show in Christchurch...
The best venue, IMHO, is the Bowl of Brooklands. Stunning location in the park. The logical place is Auckland, but Vector arena would seem a bit dull for Fleetwood Mac don't you think?. Wellington? Maybe... |
Quote:
I agree the bowl would be a great place to have it! I just think the way the stage is set up this tour, it would be easier to have it at Vector instead of an outdoor venue, with all those moving screens round them. U2 are only playing two shows in Wellington though! |
I saw U2 in 2001. Best concert I've ever been to actually. Although, their current ticket prices have me going
|
So where is the show? Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, New Plymouth? All have been mentioned.
Is there really just 1 show for NZ? |
Nothing's set yet.

Maybe they will head to Oz as soon as they're finished? |
Yeah, see the Australia tour thread - dates are there. Still no word on NZ :(

Meanwhile, Fleetwood Mac are heading this way during the summer - but final dates and venues were not known before going to print. TimeOut has an interview scheduled this week with the band's guitarist and pop genius, Lindsey Buckingham, to talk about the tour. So watch this space. The band, currently made up of Buckingham, singer Stevie Nicks, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bass player John McVie, have just finished an American tour, are about to start a European jaunt, and it is understood they will then head down under. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainm...ectid=10591760 |
My friend Will is a reporter down in the Queenstown area, and said he heard the possibility of 2 dates here in New Zealand. :]
|
Why is Stevie Nicks sitting out this leg of the tour?

The Bowl of Brooklands is the PERFECT venue for Fleetwood Mac! Google image search for it, it's an incredible place. I think they could well play the bowl and obviously Auckland too.
