Favorite live "Rhiannon"?

I'm a "Rhiannon" fiend and I really want to make sure I have the best versions possible. I'm not quite to the point of collecting every live show in its entirety (although I'm getting there, I can promise you), but I want the best of the best full shows and all the good "Rhiannon"s ever recorded.

My three favorites as of now are Rosebud (obviously), St. Louis 1980 and Mobile 1980. Recommendations?

cristochango 07-22-2009 07:02 AM

the live in nashville is my favorite. i think its from the rumours tour

Much can't top the Rosebud performance. That's probably the best video of "Rhiannon" out there -- anywho, here's a couple more to add to your collection:

May 21, 1977 - Nashville, TN
Please don't be frightened by the amazingly awesome quality of this one!! :)
Stevie's got killer vocals and Lindsey's guitar ain't too shabby either.

August 31, 1983 - Austin, TX - solo Stevie
You gotta have a solo Stevie "Rhiannon" and this one, clocking in at almost 11 minutes, is pretty awesome! I love Stevie's random chatter at the end!
http://www.mediafire.com/?m1lmjcjmbzm

Back in those early days, I swear Stevie sung "Rhiannon" different every night. I looooooove collecting live "Rhiannon"s!! I've got a lot, but those two are pretty awesome.

Oh heck, you've got to have the one from the 1981 HBO concert:

I love the RAL Rhiannons. They had my favorite intro with the flute and piano. Also loved the lyrics. She would still sing normal lines but her voice was just beautiful. "And he says nooo Rhiannon" "Pleeeeease don't go, Rhiannon. Rhiaaaaaaaanooon"

Detroit 9.19.82
Los Angeles 10.02.83

I think the best Rhiannons are from 1975-6 tour. She was clean (no cocaine or klonopin) and full of energy. Then I really like performances of Rhiannon in Behind The Mask or Timespace tour (her voice then fit that song) and Dance tour (especially performance from the DVD "The Dance" is awesome).

Are these in circulation, David, or are you just teasing us with shows you've attended that aren't available?

Oh, no, they're both around. I didn't even attend the Joe Louis Arena show. The tape is all I know of it.

Oh, don't bet on it. No klonopin, but, there were constant snowstorms backstage...and the "Happy Herb" & alcohol were in abundance. So, "clean"??...not on your life!

For me, The August 1977 "Rhiannon"s during their three night stay at the GW Forum were the best I've ever heard.

I have the Midnight Special video on my computer but I don't have the MP3. Anyone wanna help me with that? :)

Also, I have ZERO "Rhiannon"s recorded between 1983 and 1997 and the only live performances I have of it from '97 on are The Dance, 1 SYW show and 2 Unleashed shows. I gotta fill the gap! Again, help?

Thank you guys so much for this.

You're welcome!!

I had forgotten about that one. Who knew that a 1990 "Rhiannon" could sound so good? I love the "Your life wonders why" instead of "Your life knows no answer" -- pretty cool!

Lala 07-22-2009 10:47 PM

My favourite is definitely Nashville...followed by Mobile and then Midnight Special.

...and they've all been mentioned and posted already.

WTF!? I need to quit my job and be on here full time

daniellaaarisen...you might try ripping the audio from the Midnight Special on here...http://mediaconverter.org/. Just make sure you keep dear Helen Reddy on the beginning...

May 14,1980 Detroit because of Mick's drumming and Lindsey's guitar playing and stevie's crystal clear vocals.
June 13,1980 Rotterdam, Holland because of Lindsey's guitar playing and stevie's vocals.
June 22,1980 London because of Lindsey's guitar playing and stevie's vocals.

I've yet to hear one that can top these three for me.

Can you post them? I'd be forever grateful :) From what I've seen, you love Rhiannon as much as I do (which is a hard feat to accomplish, trust me) :)

But this show in Manchaster wasnīt in that great beginning of Behind The Mask Tour, Stevie was much better in the beginning, but the Manachaster show has most quality sound of all BTM shows Iīve ever heard, so thatīs pity...

I have this Rhiannon from Sacramento in 06-01-1990.
http://www.mediafire.com/?dmrzhjet5iv

There was a video of Rhiannon in Las Vegas show in 06-10-1990 on YouTube, also not good quality, but really amazing, Stevie sang and look awesome, energy like in 1975... she wore Alice coat from OSOTM tour I think, she twirl very often (in the beginning of Everywhere too). But all this ended quickly during BTM tour... I saw a short clip of Rhiannon (or Dreams? I donīt remember...) from the last BTM show... Stevie was just standing there, no movements or anything, just bored singing and that was all... and I think Europe concerts were that worse part of tour... maybe just in Manchaster, because of the recording of the concert, she made it better.

Well, here is the Las Vegasī Rhiannon too, enjoy:), I donīt know what happend with those videos of Vegas show on YouTube.

The one from Budokan, Japan is pretty amazing, especially with video!

cristochango 07-23-2009 08:51 AM

I change my mind, after listenting to the LA one from 1977 I think thats better than nashville, I definiately like the rumours Rhiannon's the best

BellaDonna93 07-23-2009 11:18 AM

My favoutite, no doubt...

daniellaaarisen 07-23-2009 12:30 PM

You guys are amazing. So far, I've changed my favorites around a little. I'm loving Nashville, Mobile and LA to add to my list with Rosebud and Midnight Special. Thank you!

seekerj 07-23-2009 02:11 PM

I'm sorry I can't provide it, I only have it on a very old cassette, but I would recommend the Providence, RI 1977 Rhiannon. The audio quality is decent for an audience recording; not "A" quality, but not bad. But this version of Rhiannon is one of my favorites.

Does anyone have this in a format that could be posted?

I agree, this is a great Rhiannon, I wish the quality was better:

Yokohama, Japan 2/3/1980 is a favorite of mine for the energy and the smalls ways she plays with phrasing.

I'm home now, but my other computer with all my files is still in Paris.... long story. I live in the Bay Area, had my laptop in Paris with me for two months and then forgot it when I flew to LA.... fail.

BUT I'm back in the bay and can download files. I'm just going to burn a data disk with everything I download from this computer so I can switch it over.

Therefore, fire away!

wayner 07-24-2009 03:08 PM

Paris.... Hmm... maybe you can help me

i have bought tix for FM at le zenith de paris oct 17, am not quite clear as to how seating works

one set of tix is in gradin G place 195,196 ... any idea where that is ???

the other set is for what i suppose is general admission - called parterre debout- how does this work ? first come first serve ( meaning closest to stage)

niether the venue nor ticket sellers have answered these ??

if you can, MERCI !!

Le parterre debout is the "upright floor". So I'm thinking its first come first serve since there is no assigned seating. So fight your way through! :)

As for the other tickets, I have no idea. I've never been to le Zenith because any musicians I want to see typically come to the US first and EVERYTHING American is more expensive in France, especially Paris. My cousin paid over $500 for an iPod touch... ridiculous. I would LOVE to fly out for the Paris show, though.... too bad that won't happen :(

I'm sorry I can't be of more help-- keep asking around though, and someone will help you out.
