This isn't Stevie's lamp, but it's pretty darn close.

Here are a few more. The third is closest to hers (sans color). The top of Stevie's lamp is blue, but the base is actually purple.

thank you so much!

I'd love to get me one of those lamps. They're pretty cool. They look like they'd go well in a house full of antiques, and I love antiques.

Where did you find these? I've been looking all over.
Are these for sale anywhere ?
I've been to a Tiffany specialist and could'nt find anything near these.Stevie 's lamp isnt a Tiffany, because Tiffany always uses flowers or animals on the lamps.

I want one like these!

At first glance I read that as glass shag lamps. :o I'm sure they'd be quite conductive to that as well. :)

This picture is fabulous! Thanks for posting it!

They're known simply as Slag Glass Lamps or just Slag Lamps (slag is the style of glass, that wavy, multi colored stuff). They were a big thing in the '20s. Look for them on eBay, they generally run a couple grand. Here is one pretty much identical to Stevie's, sans the color:

The glass panels are interchangeable, so in theory you can buy a lamp that's one color, and change out the panels at your whim. That's probably how Stevie's ended up having a purple base, with a blue shade.

Here's another variation, but not as detailed, so it's half the price:

Indeed, they're not Tiffany. Stevie has been mistaken all these years. They were made by various manufacturers in the '20s and '30s, and are simply known as "slag lamps" because of their slag glass. All of that is good for us, because you can pick up really nice slag lamps identical to Stevie's for $1-2 grand, versus paying six figures for a Tiffany. I think these are cooler looking than actual Tiffany Lamps anyway.

And for those of us who are poorer, I picked up my own Blue Slag Glass Lamp for $150. It doesn't look much like Stevie's, but it's beautiful and ethereal regardless. So until I can drop a couple of grand on a lamp, it'll have to do! Oh, and it's much deeper blue than shows in pictures... the flash seems to bleach out it's color.

Why thank you! I call my style "retro-modern witchy" The middle picture is from my old rental house, but the outer two are my current condo. :D

agreed. when I couldn't find what I wanted I thought I'd just get a Tiffany lamp that's similar, but I really don't like most of them. the ones with dragonflys are ok, but I really much prefer these inspired by Frankel Light Company.

I've found a few that sold at auction for $400...the hunt is on!

i see a few of the slag lamps from time to time on ebay, the last one i saw was a couple of months back, it looked just like stevie's but the slag glass was more a blue/green rather than the blue we see on stevie's, either way it was gorgeous~

in the pic w/ stevie & the guitar & top hat w/ all her lamps~ there is a tiffany lamp ontop of the curior w/ flower glass for shades~ my stepma's friend gave her this lamp, when he moved & when i saw the pic i showed it to her & she gave me the lamp for my "stevie room" , i cherish it!!!~

Does anyone have the clip from storytellers where a fan asks Mama about her blue lamp?

starshine 07-23-2009 05:45 PM

Yeah, I'd also love a 'blue lamp' slag lamp.....I check ebay also but the postage to get one mailed....than I'd be worried it would get broken as well. Besides the cost as well.....but its fun to look anyway........I can always dream......I love the blue lamp.......I wish she'd release more outtake photos from that sessions. I'm sure there beautiful.....a poster would be great....from an outtake...HHW3 if your listening .......IMO anyway......:D
