Dance Photo

Just was looking at photos and thought I'd post a couple you don't see around all the time, in case others might want:
|
Very cool :) Ive always wanted to know why they called it "The Dance" hmmm
|
Thanks for sharing! I really like John. He seems like just a cool guy.
Lindsey looks way younger than everyone else here again. Everyone else kind of looks the same. |
The one of John at the press conference wasn't really during The Dance, I just threw that in.
I know they patterned the Dance cover after the Matisse painting, but I don't know what made them think of it. I do know that afterwards, I bought a painting with 5 figures in motion and I did it because of FM. Michele |

Well, I've always interpreted the meaning of the Dance as it correlates with this pic as the image of five people in a circle, holding hands in some sort of embrace...or a chain. I mean circle=cycle and the hands held= the chain. Plus it's a cool picture to base a 5-person band reunion title/DVD/tour off of. I think so anyway... |
That makes sense, thanks guys :wavey:

Some more Dance photos. You've probably already seen most of these since they're from the Hall of Fame thing in 1998.

Chris, however, comports herself with great class, & seems to be able to either smooth over or brush rapidly past tense pauses in the conversation. |

That paint is a Matisse. But how they chose it, or who did, I have no idea. |

IIRC, they wanted to use that for the cover, but were not given permission.

One of the greatest Fleetwood Mac pictures ever. You know Mick would blow his load if he could get this to happen on a regular basis. Can't say I'd blame him, either.

Who thought of the Rumours cover idea anyway? |
Thanks for posting all of these great pics!!

I'd also like to know why the Say You Will cover was patterned after Double Suicide.
The struggle against social obligation and personal desire might have a parallel between Say You Will's mix of commercial appeal (title track, SYHA, etc.) and creative expression. I kept hoping they would mention why they chose that cover during Destiny Rules, but they didn't. I will say that the way they basically had to audition for a recording contract at that stage in their careers reminded me of the rich man in the movie, who cruelly flaunted his ability to pay the heroine's way out of indentured servitude (prostitution), when the man who loved her was too poor to do so. Also, the movie wants to present itself as not only a play, but as kabuki theater. This dramatic artifice, could be a reflection on FM, it's soap opera history and the unreal quality of what they present to us. I did think about the movie when I heard the Show You How lyrics, (when the play is over and the cast scrapes and bows, when the lights go out, what's it all about, etc.). Also, more recently, since the characters in the play are veiled in black, I thought of it for "black angel can't stand to be alone." Speaking of that, I could also make a shipper's comparison between FM and the movie's doomed Romeo and Juliet-type love. Anyway, I'd love to hear why FM chose that cover. Michele |
