NEW Website Launched!

Well, after all these years, I guess a new official website was really coming soon!

A new website was launched today and while it doesn't appear as though all info has been uploaded, it looks very impressive!

www.FleetwoodMac.com

Moz 05-05-2009 01:07 PM

Hey, that's not that bad. Some old pictures, videos... nice. And they've got their own forum!

thatgirlwasme 05-05-2009 01:12 PM

So who's going to be the first to join the community or post a blog?

A

michelej1 05-05-2009 01:22 PM

They have their videos up there, which means they must know that people want to see them. They just need to add Hold Me and Big Love. DVD guys!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I haven't checked it in a while either, but I figured I'd check it just in case, and what do you know!

MacMan 05-05-2009 01:44 PM

This is good! And frankly, that's all they need... They could update the Bio beyond 2000 though.

LukeA 05-05-2009 01:46 PM

Tour section doesn't have any of the new dates that are already on sale. Way to promote your tour, guys.

They could just write: "We stayed the same, except we fired Taku."

Dodfather 05-05-2009 02:04 PM

Well, I've joined the site - brilliant! I see their forum is "coming soon" though so God knows how long that will take. I've got the same username on there as here so you guys will know it's me whenever things are posted.

Dodfather 05-05-2009 02:05 PM

Whoa - the bio only goes up to 2000?! What?!

I was thinking that too, I signed up as Chris1345 on there, in case they ever get the forums open.

In 1998 the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where it played an acoustic set that Buckingham insisted would be its swan song.
What was performed in this acoustic set?

Um... was this some kind of a pre-Time mutation? That doesn't look like Bekka to me at all. And there's no Billy. And Christine is actually in the same room jamming away; I was always under the impression that Christine was were never in the same room together as the Time band, so this is really weird.

MacMan 05-05-2009 03:51 PM

What incarnation did that superbowl in the early 90's... 94?

It's weird. We're discussing it in the Christine Forum. It must come from early in 1994, before the tour started that year.

Looks like Bekka to me.

Billy was playing rhythm, so he'd probably be outside the frame, to our right, with Dave leaving his mic & walking over to Chris & John for soloing or what-have-you.

She took album art & some press art with the others, but not with Dave Mason (I don't think). But I never knew she did any rehearsing with Mason around. The other question is, Why is she rehearsing with FM? Did she actually intend at one point to do the 1994 tour? Weeeeeeeeeeeird.

Hey, on the new FM website, they have a video of Seven Wonders, therefore they are acknowledging that the song exists- therefore maybe one day we'll get it in the set!!!!!

I'm only seeing dates up to the end of May. Dates should be up to June 20th.

First, I was thinking Billy was outside the frame too, but then Mary Anne mentioned the beards photo and Billy's not in that either. So, he must not have been there that day.

I don't think they've posted any of the newly added dates yet, but I was happy to see that they had the 2009 May tour dates up! ;)

The dates up to the end of May were on the old site so naturally they would transfer those over, I think what Luke was referring to were the new June dates - that are already on sale. Those aren't on the site and should be.

Yep. Look through the Time bookelet again at the credits. Look closely for the word Additional. Whenever that's used, I assume that it's the full band, with either Michael or Steve. Whenever that's NOT used, I just assume it's the full band.

That was probably early into their work. The ankle tattoo gives away Bekka, and the hat gives away Dave. I'm guessing Billy was still out of the band at that point. Billy only re-joined the band prior to the tour, and was only there, initially, as an extra musician. (I don't think he became a "full member" again until it was obvious there was a chemistry there with Bekka.)

GREAT photo!

Just looked through the website, and BOB WELCH got screwed again!

Say what?! He was no extra at Konocti in October 1994. As for him rejoining prior to the tour, didn't everyone join prior to the tour? How long were Bekka & Dave in the band before the summer tour got underway? Couldn't have been long.

Enchanted_Stevi 05-05-2009 08:51 PM

I'm diggin the new site:thumbsup:

I'm not sure it would've been known either way. Ultimately, Billy asked to rejoin the band, and Mick said yes. Still...

Everything I've read has been like a piece of a puzzle. From what I've read, it seems like that first tour was primarily intended to get Bekka studio-ready. Also, some of that early press talked a lot about how the band was recording, and wanted to get on the road (minus Christine) and would be joined by Billy Burnette and keyboardist Steve Thoma, which doesn't make him seem like an official member of the group. And remember, Dave didn't sing lead on the old Mac stuff.

So, with that in mind, my theory is that Billy was intended to be more of an extra, but Dave decided not to sing the old Mac material. That tour was likely intended to be a fluff tour to get Bekka ready for the studio, but she and Billy developed a chemistry, and Billy became a full part of the band. Also, the band found that they could make money singing the classics and went with that instead of working out new material. Again, this last part is just my theory based on what I've read over the years.

IIRC (and, dude, I hang out with indie rockers now, so it's not like the memory is what it was), Billy quit in the spring of '93, and Mason and Bramlett joined in late summer/fall of '93. I think Billy came back around in early-to-mid '94. I don't think he was on Blow By Blow from Soccer Rocks The Globe.

Wow, I am impressed with the new site. This is awesome!
Video and audio... ok, I am officially pumped about this site for once.

(hint hint to Stevie's camp.... This is what a musical artist's web site should look like.. more interactive and interesting)

I wonder who the driving force is on this site idea wise. Bet it is joint effort between Mick and Lindsey since they both seemed to have embraced the YouTube demographic/idea.

I signed up: sandymac
