If you're a fan of Fleetwood Mac and you want to go to their upcoming concert in Saskatoon, you'd better act quickly.

Scott Ford, the Marketing Director at Credit Union Centre, says tickets went on sale Friday morning and they're about 85 per cent sold.

Ford says if tickets to the band's show on June 5th don't sell out Friday, he expects them to be gone within a week.

"My recommendation is, if anybody's interested, buy your tickets as soon as possible," Ford says.

Tickets range in price from $50 to $170.

I'm back! I took a couple hundred pictures, but I'll have to upload them tomorrow (actually today as it's past 12) when we get back home.

We got there shortly before 7 and had to wait in a huge car lineup FOREVER. We got inside sometime after 7. Actually getting to our seats took a long time; there were people standing around drinking, being annoying. After we got to our seats, mom asked one of the security guards if I could go up and take pictures at the stage. I WANTED her to ask if I could stay up there for the entire show. After waiting until shortly before eight (when it was to start), I went up to a different guy and asked if I could stay up there for the whole show. He said, "Go up there, girlie!" I was completely surprised and thanked him and told him he was awesome.

The actual show didn't start until after 8:10. By the time it started, there was quite a few people standing at the stage. I was in the "front row" of the stage, directly in front of Lindsey's microphone. More people came up closer to show time.

The show itself was AWESOME. Lindsey was energetic as usual, Stevie sounded better than I thought she would, and I couldn't really see John and Mick because of this big speaker thing in front of me. They played really well and the crowd was equally awesome. The people standing up front near me sung along, cheered a lot, and screamed random things. Near the beginning, I yelled, "I love you, Lindsey!" and he looked at me, raised his eyebrows and sort of laughed. Later I said the same thing about John and people started laughing. Closer to the end, I said, "Gift of Screws was awesome!" and Lindsey laughed and I said, "Well, it was!" Some guy standing behind me was yelling things like "LINDSEY! THAT'S MY BOY!" etc. I didn't hear anyone say anything about Stevie, but most people took pictures of her.

Lindsey played a lot of his solos standing literally half a foot away from me, so I think I got some good pictures. My hands were really shaky and I didn't have flash, so most of the pictures were super blurry. :distress: I took a few video clips and only filmed Second Hand News in its entirety.

Near the beginning, when Stevie was going "Hello Saskatoon!", she started yelling something and getting real excited; unfortunately I didn't get that on film. She smiled quite a bit and held out some awesome notes (near the end of GDW, for example), and talked about Gypsy, when she and Lindsey were in Fritz, and Storms, which she called "Always Been a Storm".

A guy beside me got a few high fives from Lindsey, a girl behind me got a guitar pick, and the lady beside me got the setlist. I still think it's awesome that he heard what I said and laughed. Lindsey did most of his GYOW solo in between him and Stevie, so people around there got to play his guitar. Oh, and a lady behind me got Lindsey to sign her Dance DVD. As far as I know, that was the only thing he signed.

Regarding Mick's drum solo, people got into it. "ARE YOU STILL WITH ME?" "YEAAHHHH!" They did their full encore.

As we were leaving, I found two dollars on the ground. So all in all, I think it was an excellent night.

michelej1 06-06-2009 01:44 AM

Oh Moz, it sounded like a great show.

Of course, you abandoned your poor mother, but I'm sure you're forgiven.

I laughed when the guard said, "go up there girlie." He sounds like he thought he was in a 1930s flick.

Your interaction with Lindsey was a hoot. As far as the fan items go, he must've seen everything by now. In Anaheim someone gave him green and white cups that were shaped like cactuses. I think they were for Stevie. I guess they were for her tea or something, but he just put them on the drum kit. He is very accommodating.

I hope John heard when you said, "I love you John."

Sounds like you had a terrific time and then you found $2 to cap everything off. Doesn't get better than that. Can't wait to see your pictures.

That's awesome! I'm glad that they made it up to SK! When the date was announced, you're the first person I thought of.

Do you think you can make it to either of the Alberta makeup dates too?

Actually, she came up a few minutes before the show started, saying, "I'll only stay for the first few songs..." and she ended up staying for the entire thing.

I hope he heard too! (And those cactus cups sounds awesome!)

Me too! At the end, Lindsey said he'll come here "next time". I wish I could make it to one of the Alberta shows, but I doubt it. AFAIK the Calgary show is sold out.

Michele, I was right behind this girl, I let her stand in front of me cause she was short LOL. She did try to give the (I thought they were candle's?) to Stevie but Stevie said "I'm sorry but I cant bend over!!" Her and Lindsey had alot of eye contact, so I said to her, man he really likes you!! She told me she was a drummer and had played for him before, or something to that effect. I'm hoping she is a member here or 7W??? Because of her I got alot of Lindsey eye contact!! :wavey:

Rick

Moz 06-06-2009 01:16 PM

Other things: Stevie was wearing the frankenboks for at least two songs. I don't know if she changed into her boots for a few songs because I could only see her from the waist up. While she was twirling during Stand Back, I was staring at Lindsey the entire time (he was mouthing the words), so I didn't get a picture of her. :(

During Mick's drum solo, Lindsey went to the side of the stage and laid down. Got a picture of that, too.

At the end, Mick told us to "love one another".

Rick, Oh, you're probably right that they were candles. That makes more sense. I laugh trying to picture Stevie bending down to get those. She'd have to do somewhat of a juggling act on top of everything else. I wonder where the woman had worked with Lindsey before. That's interesting.

Fleetwood Mac show crowd-pleaser

By Stephanie Classen, The Star Phoenix June 6, 2009

http://www.thestarphoenix.com/Entert...432/story.html
It may be the most successful breakup story of all time. Not only did the damaged relationships of Fleetwood Mac yield one of the most popular albums of all time, but the band is still on stage together, mostly, and playing songs you'd have to be completely clueless not to know.

It was music from the aforementioned album, 1978's Rumours, that got the most attention Friday at Fleetwood Mac's Credit Union Centre show. And former couple Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, whose fallout inspired many of the band's pain-infused songs, stole the spotlight.

Nicks and Buckingham were joined by bassist John McVie and the lovable oddball, and band namesake, Mick Fleetwood, whose signature Rumours ponytail is still flowing, albeit much greyer.

Fleetwood Mac has had regular personnel changes since forming in 1967, but the incarnation most are familiar with was fully represented Friday night, save for Christine McVie, who is no longer touring with the band. Several of her best-known songs -- Little Lies, Over My Head and You Make Loving Fun -- were noticeably absent from the set. But the show still showcased most of the American/British band's finest.

The show opened with the song Monday Morning. Buckingham and Nicks took the stage hand in hand, one of several gestures -- which later included a prolonged hug -- to prove just how over the past they are. The first song segued into the darker The Chain, followed by Dreams, before which Nicks exclaimed, "We figure we might as well just get the party started." Great song? Yes. Party music? No.

The band made no attempt to gloss over past personal problems -- why would they, considering how profitable they were? -- with Buckingham saying, "Fleetwood Mac has had a fairly complicated, convoluted emotional history. At the end of the day, it has actually worked in our favour."

Nicks -- at 61, still dressed in her signature drapey, gypsy-like garb and singing into a scarf-covered microphone stand -- doesn't try to hit the higher notes anymore, but has retained that inexplicably sexy, smoky quality that makes her voice so special.

The foursome -- backed by three singers and two extra musicians -- definitely left the enthusiastic audience satisfied. The band barrelled to 21/2 hours of hits, including Gypsy, Go Insane, Second Hand News, Sara, Say That You Love Me, Go Your Own Way and Gold Dust Woman. A highlight for Nicks was her performance of Rhiannon, a song that sounds better the older she gets. The encore included the crowd favourite Don't Stop.

I've thought the same thing ever since hearing this in Pittsburgh the first night...such an oddly placed comment when it is followed by Dreams. Now, if they jumped into Stand Back or even You Make Loving Fun, it would be more "party" atmosphere than Dreams.

Actuall what she said was she had auditioned for him before, and that she was "this close".....She asked me, who you here to see, I said Stevie, she said Lindsey! He did actknowledge her several times. She has to be a member here or somewhere close by! Short blonde chick with long weavy hair??

Moz,

I like the effect you got with Stevie's gold shawl, when she turned around for the end of GDW. The shawl looks luminous contrasted against the shadow form of her body. The way she does that pose at the end really goes well with the "running in the shadow" lyrics. I think you captured that.

I like to look at Lindsey during Stand Back too. Because we have so many pictures of him and they all look alike in that red shirt, I don't take as many pictures of him in concert and when I turn the camera in another direction to snap something else, I always regret when I am not looking at him. Michele
