Greensboro, NC cancelled!!
Just got off ticketmaster site and it says the Grennsboro show on 4/26 has been cancelled. :distress:
|
I'm not surprised (shocking, I know ;) ) Based on all of the $25 ticket sales (more than half of the upcoming shows, last I checked), I don't think it will be the last show to get axed, either (I'm looking at you, Omaha)
The venue in Greensboro is HUGE- second only to Tacoma in seating capacity out of the venues they're playing on this tour. I'm too lazy to check to see if it was a venue availability issue, but if they wanted another NC date, it really should have been Raleigh. Greensboro (the venue) is too big and (the city) too close to Charlotte (which ain't doing that great either). |
Fleetwood Mac won't be giving a planned performance at the Greensboro Coliseum this month, coliseum officials announced today.
The Sunday, April 26, concert in Greensboro has been canceled because of scheduling conflicts, according to the news release. Tickets purchased online and via phone will be refunded automatically starting Monday, April 20. Tickets purchased at outlets or the box office can be refunded at point of purchase, beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 21. Fleetwood Mac’s concert on Saturday, April 25, at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte will continue as scheduled. Tickets are still available for the Charlotte concert at livenation.com, the Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, or charge by phone 800-745-3000. |
CRAP!!!!!!!!!!! The one time I score front row and the freaking thing gets cancelled. OMFG Im so upset. Well, I'll keep trying for Charlotte. Wonder how soon I can get my money back?
|
Vegas will not be axed. Any doubts about that "LukeA"?

I've heard that 13,000 seats are gone for that show. Comps?
|
Hmmm! Curious. I noticed yeserday there were 6 front row seats and 8 second row seats popping up. Must not have sold enough tickets. Times are tough right now. Sorry:distress: to hear it though for all you North Carolina fans.

I'm so upset.. :distress: I tried so hard for those tickets. Felt like I'd gotten one over on the scalpers by being so persistent with my searching. I had a sitter for my kids, had gotten a good hotel rate. OK.... rant over.
Just called my Mom and my Husband and they are both telling me it must have happened for a reason and maybe we can go to another city. I'm in the travel business and can get free airline tickets. I'll keep trying for Charlotte but I doubt I'll get anything good. |

I will...Guess I'll put that alarm back on my outlook reminding me to check every 30 minutes:) I had removed it once I scored the front rows yesterday.
Thanks for the encouragement Angel and Luke:wavey: |
What a bummer! This show was on my birthday, and I was trying to figure out a way to go somehow. I'm so sorry to all the folks planning to go to this show--Greensboro is not too far from Charlotte, so hopefully everyone can make that show.
|
Borgata, perhaps...
Could the Borgata be scheduled on this date instead....

Just keep trying for Charlotte. You will hit again! |

I hope so... Course there's lots of people doing the same as me so I may not be able to get front row again. I'd be happy with anything in the first 10 rows now. Maybe I should just try going to Vegas again, My husband and I had a blast there when we saw Stevie there a few years ago. Thanks again for your words of encouragement Angel :xoxo: |
It doesn't surprise me one bit this show was canceled. The Mac played in Greenville SC, Charlotte NC, and Greensboro NC during the Say You Will tour, but they were all during completely different legs of the tour (like 6 months apart each). Playing Charlotte and Greensboro back to back just doesn't make sense. I agree, they could have done Raleigh and Charlotte instead, that would have made much more sense. The people in Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point could have split themselves between Charlotte and Raleigh. I think this tour is going to end up sobering the band very much... they aren't having anywhere near the selling power of even Say You Will, which was just 6 years ago.
I am sorry to hear you lost your great ticket, Wendy. I've decided to go for cheap seats in Charlotte, so at least I won't be your competition for front row :p . |
I agree Louie.. I hope this will sober them like you say but I doubt it. I'm almost kind of mad at them and disallusioned You know, I'm not rich... I have two kids, a husband that just had back surgery 6 weeks ago and is out of work so money is really tight for us right now. I saved up a long time for those tickets. My Mac/Stevie thing is the only real extravagant (sp?) thing I do for myself. I would go and sit on the lawn if they were playing at Walnut Creek in Raleigh but this was a big deal in a city an hour away and and a night out for me and my husband with our favorite band so we really wanted good seats and splurged. Maybe I can find decent seats inCharlotte. Thanks for the encouragement Louie :) I feel like I know you.. I've been around as a lurker on these and other boards for many years and always enjoyed reading your posts and comments :xoxo:

Wendy I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I'd thought of going to that show too and pulled 8th row last night (at around midnight) but didn't buy b/c I was still thinking about going to Charlotte too.
Maybe this will be a lesson for all the bands out there that they can't keep charging astronomical prices and expect to pack a house in the middle of a recession. |

Well, what the hell. Guess I'm passing on this tour- not going to Charlotte. :distress:

Yeah, what's been said- to everyone who lost tickets, I'm so sorry- my condolences.
As enchanted said- the Mac is one of my last few extravagances in these 'hard times', so I'm hoping Tulsa doesn't get cancelled (not to mention my wife is actually excited about this one!). The knowledgeable Luke- you know anything about Tulsa, May 3rd ticketng issues? - Spike |

what cancellations do you predict for the rest of tour? |
I haven't posted here in eons, but thought I'd give my 2cents on this.:wavey: I was going to attend this show since I live in Greensboro, have all my life. I had not gotten tix yet, so I'll be going to Charlotte, which IMO, is a better venue anyway. I'm not at all surprised though, that this show was cancelled. Greensboro has become much too... "urban", to draw a good crowd anymore for this kind of act. I could just about guarantee you that 80% of the tickets bought for this show were from out of towners, not from people that live here. But I'll be at the Charlotte show with bells on and it'll give me a chance to have dinner with my aunt who lives there, so it's all good. I just hate it for anyone who was going to this show but can't go to Charlotte.:(

If you asked me a week ago, I honestly would have said definitely Orlando and probably Greensboro. But since Orlando didn't get axed today, its surely safe- especially if they're still running ads for it at the moment. I've still got a bad feeling about Omaha. A few shows are doing so poorly that they probably should get canceled, although there's no chance they will- ex. Glendale & Tacoma (each for different reasons). Both are also surely impacted by how far away they are from Phoenix & Seattle (respectively). Most of Fleetwood Mac's core demographic in the Phoenix area lives in the east valley/Scottsdale, a good 45-50 miles from Glendale (boring-ass BFE- and that's even going by the super-low Phoenix standards). And, of course, they were greedy and booked the huge Tacoma Dome instead of the moderately sized Key Arena in downtown Seattle, banking on a sizable contingent from Portland making the Saturday night trip up (NO THANKS). BUT, they'd never cancel Stevie's "hometown" show, and they're not going to cancel Vancouver's "buddy". |
{{{{{{{Wendy}}}}}}}
{{{{{{{Myself}}}}}}} {{{{{{All FM Freaks holding Greensboro tix}}}}} hugs to all of us who were looking forward to this.. i wondered when i saw the dates why they scheduled it like that.. i am from NC, it's not like the northeast, where you can drive 2 hours in any direction and see a show. there are just not enough people.. and in this economy it is such poor judgement to be charging $150 for tix and then allowing soooooooooo many to be held back for VIP/scalper/whatever you want to call it at double and quadruple that. i've bought scalp seats before, but this tour is crazy  i still have my first Stevie Wild Heart ticket @ $7.50! whatever... i am just ranting now... but it does piss me off.. i was rationalizing the 5 hour drive solo from VA for 2 shows, now i am down to the one i don't even have a ticket for, Charlotte :( I'm thinking I might have to add Atlanta to the ticket search mania to make it worth the trip :] What say you Swami Luke? is Atlanta live? anyone here going there? there seems to be more tix for that... maybe 'cause it's a Tuesday... Don't stay home Wendy! I know you are dissapointed, I would be too.. actually I cried a little :xoxo: But you don't have to be close enough for Lindsey to spit on you to have fun! :blob1::blob2::blob1: |
Lindsey spit  I'm going to do Charlotte, probably won't have as good seats but we'll still have fun and a night out without the kids:thumbsup:.

I'm sorry to hear that the show got canceled. Hopefully everyone can get tickets to another show.

[From the Fox station in NC. So, Luke you think it really wasn't a scheduling conflict??]

That "conflict" statement is more insulting to their fans than the truth is. I wouldn't use that as an excuse, after people got their hopes up, made plans to go, saved money. To be told a scheduling conflict got in the way is a slap in the face. I'd rather hear that they couldn't afford to do it, even though they wanted to. Michele |

I think it would have worked better had they scheduled 1 concert in South Carolina (N. Charleston or Columbia) and 1 in NC---they would have been able to pull a bit more diverse audience (geographically) than having 2 scheduled in NC on the same leg of a tour. So whoever was doing the booking for this tour didnt' make the best choices. |
