What would Stevie think of this?
I have noticed on ebay that people are auctioning off their signed copies of the Soundstage CD and DVD. I don't get it...why go through all that most of you who went had to endure to just sell it on ebay, it doesn't make any sense to me. Then again, it does, because all some people see are $$$. Here's some of the auctions...and check out the asking prices! And not to mention...what would Stevie think of this?

this was posted in one of the BN threads
and it disgusts me those people arent REAL fans and maybe REAL fans were the ones out on the street getting turned away coz the line was so massive i hope no1 here buys any of that i didnt go. i don't haven anything Stevie auto'ed but no way would i line their asses with my $$$ Stevie will never do anything like this ever again if this is what's gonna happen  |
I'll be glad to sign your Soundstage Sessions CD's or
Live in Chicago DVD's for less $$$. Choose from the following signatures: "Stevie Nicks"........$25.00 each. "Miley Cyrus" ........$35.00 each. "Elvis Presley".....$750.00 each. * "iamnotafraid".....$950.00 each. *(note limited supply of Elvis' signatures) COA included with each order. |
I don't think it's that terrible.
For me, I would absolutely stand in that line simply to meet Stevie...an autograph really doesn't do much for me (I'd much rather have a photo with her). Why not go for the experience and then sell the CD to someone who might want it? Charging $150 for it though...that's a different story... |

What would Stevie think of this? Hmm. She'd probably think "there's a sucker born every minute." As iamnotafraid suggested, anyone can buy a cd/dvd, get a marker and sign "Stevie Nicks" to it with a little practive. Stevie already made her money selling the product. Hopefully her fans are smart enough to know the value isn't in "the signature," but in the music.

I think it's morally wrong to sell it. It's a slap in Stevies' face making money off of a signature . No true fan would do this!

Ok, now I feel really dumb. I was thinking it was the signed copy from her internet, but that was the lithograph thing. Supposedly the first handful of people were getting a signed copy of that. This sucks even more though, that they stand in line for what probably felt like forever and then go and do something like this. Yeah... it's like a couple of y'all said. Probably weren't true fans at all. It's still very sad.

There are always people looking to make a $...
However in this economic climate where people are struggling to keep their houses, maybe we shouldn't judge too harshly the things people will do to make money... |
I don't judge. I'm just surprised these things sell. I would never buy an autographed item that wasn't directly from the source. Even the Lindsey autographs I bought at his concert (see my avi), I sometimes wonder when I look at it: did he really sign those? I have faith he did since I bought them from the official souvenir desk at his concert, but these ebay items? :wavey:
ETA: I also have no use for autographs, usually, so I hardly ever seek them out. However, I got the Stevie autographs cuz I'm going to frame them with my Mick autographs in order to celebrate the year in Mac 2009. :) |

Besides, for every fan there, they might have dragged their dearest friend or family member with them and they decided to take advantage of the situation. |

I never understood the value of an autograph when you didn't get it personally signed...an autograph should be a memento of a memory of meeting someone famous...just my opionion... I certainly don't begrudge anyone using ebay to help them out economically in fact my hubby is currently on an ebay tear of his own, paring down his baseball memorobilia but this was a special event so I do feel bad for any true fans that may have been left on the line outside B&N...:distress: as for Stevie's opinion...it probably the same as her opinion regarding illegal downloading...she likes to make the money herself off her image and music and does not like others try to do the same... even so, there is some blatant profiteering and insane prices in several of these ebay auctions that totally takes advantage of a fan...:distress: |

Most of the people selling the autographs on eBay are professional autograph sellers, you only have to look at their list of items for sale or history (lots of other signed items from various celebrities). The only reason they went to the signing was to sell it on eBay presumably (if they are indeed all authentic).

I was there at this signing and got in line at 7pm got to the register to purchase at 8:42pm and got to meet stevie at around 10:30pm while i was waiting in my seat there for them to tell our row to go up probably sat at our seats at 9:10pm i think i was watching stevie and looking at all the people and i was saying to myself there was definetly some people here you can tell were not fans and they were going to sell these dvd's and cd's i was thinking to myself Im a die hard fan of hers and fleetwood mac and have been for 30 years and this was my time to meet her and still cant believe it, but we do live in a world that is so hungry for cash they will do anything to get it and this is low im sure thats probably why she wont do alot of these or if any in the future and also saw some people being rude by when they got to stevie they whipped out there digital camera and flashed a pic right in front of her face im sure they were the only ones but to me i rather have a moment to speak with her and have her grab my hand and tell me after i told her that i love her and she grabbed my hand and said thank you and i love you too and thanks for coming to see me with a big smile that is priceless to me if its meant to for me to take a pic of with her it will happen as the way i look at it and i hope i have another moment with her in the future again i hope she will do more signings in the future. if your a die hard fan you really shouldnt buy that ebay dvd and cd cause stevie didnt charge us that much to see her and to sign that all your doing is putting profit in those scalpers hands they should sit on those items and just glad most of the die hard fans got to see her except for those scalping ebay jerks. ebay should have some regulations torwards items like that

i know there were people that got cut off from the line i was curious how many outside were cut off? was anyone on here that went and got cut off what happened with the people waiting? i hope everyone that went on this board got to get in and meet stevie she is so amazing in person and kind and has very soft hands i was one of the lucky ones to get in i know there was about 50 or so behind us that got in and after them the line was cut off was curious on how many were outside trying to get in

I was there with my husband, he got a F with a drawing on it and her sig, he
loves it. I didn't asked for my first initial because I knew the woman behind me was getting it for her son and wanted to ask if she could write happy birthday, she got the initial and sig....But for a while( a couple of years) Stevie would not autograph anything, because she found out it was going on e-bay and she thought her fans were getting ripped off having to buy her autograph. I think this will piss her off. After a couple of people found out I went, they were like can I have your husbands, I got good pictures, great memories a picture of her would have been nice. I am just grateful I got to meet her. I think she did this for her fans. And the ones like myself who waited 14 hours are not going to sell it. Darla |
