Great photos everyone. I remember reading that Christine won a poll in England back in the '60s for having the best legs for a musician.

Indeed, a magazine (not sure which) said he said one of the top ten pair of legs in Britain.

 That's a piquant morsel of info. As smitten as I am with Stevie, I've always acknowledged that Christine is herself attractive.

You are right... and thank you so much for sharing the vintage nuggets.

Who is the cute looking blonde guy in the first picture? I would have dated him back in the day, but not if he was hanging around The Mac. I prolly would not have been stellar enough for him. ;)

I love seeing pics of Stevie before she adopted the chiffon wardrobe... because then sometimes I can say "oh wow - I used to have a blouse like that." knowadimean?

But anyway, thanks for the photos! Good stuff indeed.

I can't believe you didn't mention Stevie's weird-ass hat!! Btw, why is she wearing a white dress? I thought only the bride is supposed to wear a white dress at a wedding.

Maybe she wanted to coordinate with Mick, too.

Well who wouldn't? Or maybe she was just trying to upstage the bride (the same woman who stole Mick from her in the first place?).

:lol::shocked::D I developed a love of words in my early nonage and used to vigorously study the dictionary (I had decided that I wanted to become something of a wordsmith and a writer, ahem). This is the way that I've written for as long as I can remember; I'm afraid it's my ingrained writing style. However, this hardly extenuates my overbearing verbosity at times, and for this I say... :sorry::D. Incidentally, I'm no longer trying to become a wordsmith, but rather a graphic designer, but I still remember most of those words I learned.

Remember how CAH described how she kind of caused a scene at John and Julie's wedding too.

No need to apologise! I'm enjoying reading your posts, they sound almost from another era and it makes a welcome change from all the internet slang and abbreviations that a lot of younger posters use, which I have to admit I don't understand fully yet.

I'm trying to think, but I can't remember exactly, it's been a while since I read CAH's book. Remind me, if you don't mind.

 I don't know, maybe I was an unapproachable aristocratic englishmen defenestrated for publicly impugning the Queen's commitment to patrician propriety in a previous life, milady -- oh, crap, I did it again. *bites finger* All right, I did that one on purpose, having some fun. :D

Well, to be accurate the wedding went off fine, but it was at the reception that CAH claims Jenny and Stevie had a screaming match. They were yelling at each other in a cedar closet and all the guests turned to hear the fight. So, Carol (who paints herself as superwoman, albeit a very passive one) says she stepped into the closet too, at Jenny's beckoning, to give her moral support. She couldn't believe what was happening and thought "this is so trailer park!" She thought they were going to start fighting any minute, but Robin got Stevie away. But Stevie was supposedly wearing a long, white dress at that wedding too. I guess she just likes to wear white at weddings.

Speaking of the McVie nuptials, this is from People magazine:

People Magazine, April 19, 1978

John McVie, 32-year-old bass guitarist for Fleetwood Mac, married his longtime girl friend Julie Rubens in private ceremonies held over the weekend in Los Angeles, an agent for the top-selling rock group announced yesterday.
Drummer Mick Fleetwood, the group's leader, was best man at the wedding - for which the bridegroom's parents, Reginald McVie and Dorothy Merryfield, flew in from London.

John looks so handsome in his wedding tux, which is a very classy one IMO.

I'm wondering if Stevie wore white because she was in the wedding party and that's how Sara wanted it? It's safe to assume Stevie was, considering Sara was her friend in the first place. Maybe Sara was going for a black/white/gray thing.

.............And Christine and her Hot-Mama-Hot-Pants-Legs!!!

(I know it was just the style back then, but it looks live she and Stevie had an agreement that she would show her legs onstage and Stevie would show her midriff.)

LOL.

I think about them sometimes and imagine they probably aren't very modest around each other. I guess these people became very familiar with one another regardless of gender, especially in the early days when they were playing small gigs and didn't have proper dressing rooms and traveled all cramped together. I bet they've all pretty much seen everything everyone else has got!

Michele

stevierocks87 03-30-2009 04:00 PM

I have never seen many of those early pics before, thanks so much for posting, they are wonderful. To me, mid- 70s Lindsey is just the epitome of sexiness from that era- the fro, the tight jeans.....:woohoo: also, it has always been interesting to me how Christine kinda adopted Stevie's wardrobe on the Tusk tour. She looked awesome! And, as always, Stevie is simply breathe-taking.
