FMac DVD's and Videos

I know that there are 2 VHS videos that used to be available. One was the "Tusk Documentary" and the other was "The Mirage Tour" concert recorded at the L.A. Forum. Does anyone know if these will ever be released on DVD? I know you can't even get the VHS copies anymore.

Sanne2 03-25-2009 04:37 PM

Maybe not official but there is a DVD release of the Mirage video that's pretty good available, I bought my copy at a "regular" cd-store and it's good quality, not bootleg-crap!

if i get to meet stevie next tuesday in NYC at her signing in Barnes and Noble i would like to ask her that quiestion if possible myself if she will take questions and if she will still be there when I get there i should get there around 5-5:30pm which i know is late and not counting on meeting her but never know until you get there

tr1 03-25-2009 04:44 PM

Would that CD store happen to be anywhere near the Los Angeles area by chance???

Skyveris 03-25-2009 05:13 PM

You could do what I did and download a high-quality version of the Mirage Tour concert from the internet for free:

First go here and download Bittorrent (it's free), and afterwards go here and download this torrent for the concert and enjoy (you can then burn it on a DVD)! The only requirement is a high-speed connection.

Thanks Matt,
A couple quick questions:
Do you know of a free program to burn these files to DVD, my computer has ULEAD and it doesn't recognize these types of files especially AVI
I have the original VHS but it doesn't allow me to transfer to DVD because of the copy protection, does anyone know of a way to transfer my VHS to DVD and remove the copy protection. I have AnyDVD but it seems you need a physical DVD to use it.
Thanks

You're welcome.

The program that you seek that'll allow you to burn the files to DVD for free is DVD Flick. Onward... I'm afraid I know of no free VHS to DVD converters, but here's a reputedly effective one available for purchase: VHS to DVD 2.0. Good luck.

Thanks Matt, I'm downloading the DVD burner now! I see you're from Milwuakee. Most of my family lives there, and I will too. (After school lets out, atleast.)

You're more than welcome. I'm simply glad to be of service.

You're from Madison, I see. Good times. I'm originally from California and moved here to Milwaukee with my mom and two sisters at the age of 12, and though it was hardly a seamless transition relocating to such a comparatively tepid, uneventful atmosphere, I've come to enjoy my time living here. That aside, I feel compelled to proclaim my love for the Green Bay Packe -- you see, I -- all right, back on topic, ahem. :D

I used to have the VHS for the "Tango In The Night" concert taped at the Cow Palace in SF in 1987. I was at the show when it was taped and it was phenomenal!!!! Owned the VHS until I wore it out!!!

Haven't looked to see if I can get it on DVD or not but sure would like to if it's available. Most of the video from those shows is on Youtube though.

Doesn't the Nicks Fix have a link to the Mirage video? It's not an official remaster but at least it's a decent DVD version.

Now what *I* need is a laserdisc player...

I keep harassing random people I meet, "Do you have a laserdisc player? Do you? DO YOU?" for I have the Tusk documentary on a pretty much brand new laserdisc and it is my eventual goal to rip that as cleanly as possible and make a shiny DVD that I can watch whenever I want.

I've never worked with laserdiscs in this way, but I assume there has to be a way to do it and keep it mostly lossless. Time will tell.

Where can I find Rosebud and the Tusk Doc?

It is available on DVD, I own it personally- and I really love it!

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. I specifically desire the Tusk Doc with a passion (that live performance of Angel was spectacular!).

A while ago i obtained what was apparently a DVD-Rip from the mirage "DVD" off the internet and although the picture quality was superb - the sound was quit frankly terrilble, worse than on youtube.

So i went and got the old mirage VHS tape from ebay and the sound quality is 100 times better. Of course the picture is a bit wooly (VHS) but who cares.

I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE to get a good quality "rosebud" recording - all I have seen is what is one youtube - and the quality was appaling, but wow the performance!! (So afraid, on Gibson guitar, Mick pounding the hell out of his kit etc.)

fleetwoodtrick 03-29-2009 03:12 PM

Okay, one more question... I'm trying to burn the Tusk Doc. to a DVD, but it's .vob format. So I used my handy-dandy converter and converted the files to .wmv. The first part converted perfectly, but the second part totally got messed up... Help me please?

I got my Tusk / Rosebud documentaries from throwndown.net! xD

~Rhiya

P.S. GO PACKERS! :]

There were two official VHS releases of that one: the standard (black box) & the hi-fi (silver box). Naturally, the hi-fi has the better audio.

VH1 Classic broadcast this stuff back around ten years ago, in the excitement following "The Dance." That's the best quality we've seen on TV yet.

fleetwoodtrick 03-29-2009 03:16 PM

The Tango DVD is available here:

http://www.amazon.com/Fleetwood-Mac-...8357628&sr=8-2

And this... could possibly be the Mirage DVD. Though I honestly have no idea!

http://www.amazon.com/Fleetwood-Mac-...8357692&sr=1-1

And if you're willing to shell out $125, here's the Tusk VHS:

;)

As fleetwoodtrick suggests, you can find all this and more at ThrownDown.net (don't leech!, and prolly helps if you have hi-speed).

Skyveris - Thank you for the link to download the '82 show. I remember "renting" that when I was a kid. So I got it downloaded but when playing it with Windows Media Player I only get the audio and no picture. Is there something else I need to do to see the picture of it? thanks for any help.

I had the same problem with US Festival; is it in .avi format? Windows Players don't accept that format. I would download VLC Media player, it's awesome! (I have no link though, sorry!) Or get the Primsim or AnyVideo converter. Hope this makes a little bit of sense! :sorry:

If I recall correctly, I had to download a special codec for the version of Windows Media Player I was using to get video for the concert. You might have to do the same. Or go to plan B: fleetwoodtrick did well to suggest VLC Media Player as an alternative to Windows Media Player for playing avi files. You can play virtually any media file on the VLC Player. You might give it a try. Good luck.

I just trade with people. IMO, it's much easier than downloading and converting. Plus, it's more fun! I like getting things in the mail. That's how I got my Rosebud doc, Tusk doc, Mirage show, live at Red Rocks, backstage in Japan stuff, lots of live clips from tv shows like SNL, some OOTC show, etc. Unfortunately my dvd burner crapped out on me and I'm trying to get some discs for someone on here. :(

Gotta third the vote for the VLC Player. It is the shizz. I have yet to run across a file it won't play properly.

MacMan 03-30-2009 07:19 AM

Media Player Classic is another one that will play anything.

You can pick it up here: Afterdawn

tr1 03-31-2009 10:43 PM

Thanks guys. I got the VLC player and it played perfectly. I haven't seen that show in like 15 yrs. It brought me back to being 13 again. I couldn't believe it.
Now if I could just finish downloading the Behind The Music. It seems to be taking forever. Any tricks to making the downloads quicker???
