Oh man, that album was my jam last summer. The Mother and Child Reunion cover is also worthy, but Dreams is the best of course.
|
Wow that sure is Lindseyesque.

Robin Pecknold (FLEET FOXES) covers DREAMS
Robin Pecknold (lead singer of Fleet Foxes) covered Dreams the other night at a benefit.
Here's an mp3 from stereogum.com: http://cdn.stereogum.com/mp3/Robin%2...s%20(Live).mp3 |
I LOVE the Fleet Foxes! Thank you dontlookdown!!:thumbsup:
|
it's a good version and I've always thought Fleet Foxes have a lot in common with FM - going back as far as the Danny Kirwan days.
|
Awesome band ..I'm looking forward to what they are going to do for their second album.
|
I loooveeeeee Fleet Foxes. Thanks for this!
|
I love Fleet Foxes too! They are sooooo wonderful!!!
and so this is sooooooooo wonderful!!!!! Omg!!!!! |
It's starts in an interesting way, but then falls apart a bit. The thing with "Dreams" is that it alters in subtle ways throughout the track without you realising. Cover artists dont get that.
|
i don't think it was a rehearsed thing - just having fun with old music.
FF don't really take themselves too seriously (aside from their harmony singing). they also did Albatross in the same set |
Sounds like ther start of their own White Winter Hymnal. It would have been cool to hear a few lines from it at the end, but its still an excellent cover.
|
Like it, yeah it fades off at the end, like he is distracted or something, but like the first half especiaily.
Cool huh, and FLEET foxes.... they have to do some FLEETwood mac don't they |
I don't mean to be negative.... but I don't like it...
just like I hated David Cook's cover of Little Lies... and Lindsay Lohan's Edge of Seventeen... and The Coors' Dreams... and every other FM cover.. Sorry, but some songs are untouchable (at least, to me) and shouldn't be messed with... Dreams being one of them. |

Jill Andrews-Dreams Cover
Ok I know Fleetwood Mac covers are usually average or just plain rubbish. But this is amazing! I don't know who this woman is, but she did the song more than enough justice!
Enjoy! :D February 2010 from Jill Andrews on Vimeo. |
I like it... the folksy rendition is a fresh take... yet they're spot on with the harmonies and backing vocals. Thanks for sharing!
|
Yeah, thanks for this! Thought it was great, that lady has a nice voice, reminded me of Natalie Merchant's a tiny bit.
|
Pretty good.
|
Here's an mp3 of the song for anyone interested -

John Mayer covers Dreams
About 5:45.
He's no Stevie, but I think he does well. |
I love the way he & his band rewrite the song. Instead of F to G to F to G & so on, they carry through the previous song's chord progression & do DREAMS F to C to G to F to C to G & so on. The extra chord has rejuvenated the song in my brain! Mac ought to start doing it this way.
DREAMS before: F | G | F | G DREAMS after: F | C | G | F | C | G A brilliant stroke. |
Wow, I kinda like the way he did that.
|
This is the first time I've ever heard JM sing. His song was good but I don't care for his singing on Dreams.
On another note, earlier tonight I tossed out several magazine pictures of John Mayer realizing that I am no longer sexually attracted to him anymore. |
Yikes. :sorry:
|
Did y'all read the Rolling Stone from a couple of weeks ago? He's kinda nuts!
And a friend was pointing this out to me, about a week ago.....his songs aren't that great! Yeah, he's a media darling, but that's about it! RS feels the need, to put him in every issue, but it's not really for his body of work, but his.....status. I did have the pleasure of doing monitors for him, right as his career was skyrocketing, and he was very polite and friendly, but I've not been really impressed, with his body of work. |
Oh god.
An ex of mine used to think the sun shined out of this guy's butt, I'd love to see his face at him covering one of my Favourite band's songs (imo, badly) |
I think he's actually ok in my book...
In other news, didn't realize he played a Turner! Nice! |

i am not a freak for his music, but he does have some good songs i have downloaded over the years~ |
Let you down?
I don't understand why artists change the lyrics to songs like that. I find it really annoying! Especially when it changes the intention entirely! Once I heard a cover of John Lennon's "Happy Xmas", in which the "let's hope" of the "let's hope it's a good one" line was changed to "let's pray" - something which I'm sure Lennon wouldn't have been very impressed with ("Imagine" summed up his thoughts on religion pretty well). So JM's keep/let change alone put me off listening to any more of it... That said, I quite like John Mayer, although I haven't listened to any of his material for quite some time now... |
Review of John Mayer in concert
By Heather LovejoyStory updated at 4:16 AM on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010
Weird moment: After "Half of My Heart," Mayer went into "Dreams," a Fleetwood Mac tune sung by Stevie Nicks. It was impossible to overlook that "Half of My Heart" features Taylor Swift on his latest album, "Battle Studies." Considering Swift's painful Grammy performance alongside her idol, Nicks, and the harsh criticism that followed, it was hard to know what to make of it. Was he trying to point out that he can sing a Nicks' song just fine, unlike Swift? http://jacksonville.com/news/metro/2...nd_he_knows_it |
His music isn't bad. I've seen him in concert and it was an excellent show. I think he's a douche, but that has very little to do with his musical output and almost all to do with his media-courting, whorish ways. :sorry:
|
It's not that bad, but lately I've been having really negative, visceral reactions to FM/Stevie Nicks covers :distress:. I need to go listen to Stevie sing Dreams now to get that bad taste out of my mouth.
A |
Any guy that sings a song about "Who says I can't get stoned?" can't be all bad!!!!!!
He's obviously not Stevie, and no cover of "Dreams" could ever match hers, but what the hell. I give the guy credit for trying. |

Noice surprise! I'm going to give it another listen |
yuk. :distress:
|
Am I the only one who hears Bette Davis Eyes in there too? :wavey:
It's OK. Not bad, not spectacular. |
