Stevie on The Chris Isaak Hour preview

There's a short clip of Stevie at the beginning. I can't wait for this interview.
Can someone tell me when this was filmed? She's looking fantastic!

I have no idea myself, sorry. Does someone else know?

louielouie2000 02-22-2009 09:30 AM

Another question and answer we've heard from Stevie a dozen times before. Let's hope this interview goes a bit deeper, and we get non-Steviebot answers

You have to check your local listings because BIO is shown at different times in different broadcast areas. Here they show it on Saturday at 7:00 AM!!!! Whats with that??!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZ WAKE UP STEVIE IS ON!!! ZZZZZZZZZ.:p
One strange thing is that the original Chris Isaak Show. The episode that has Stevie in a cameo I can't find a clip anyware, even on YouTube. Strange.

The series debuts on Feb. 26. I don't believe anyone's posted when Stevie's episode airs.

Here's a different clip:

Eew, I detest "It's Late" . Why oh why does Stevie keep doing all these horrible covers when she has such an amazing body of work that she's never tapped into for live performances?? I'm getting to the point where I wish she'd just retire instead of doing hits tours, vegas shows, refusing to record new material, and performing all these god awful cover songs!! Blech!!! She's become a caricature of herself!! :distress:

She and Isaak are performing a duet of the song, so i guess they both had to agree that "It's Late" was a good choice for both of them to perform.

Maybe it is because that is what I have grown up with, but I love that tune. I slip back to riding in the car with my dad and listening to 94.3 "Great Oldies." LOL

I feel the same way about Rock and Roll. I feel it's a slap in the face. And the years go by, doing nothing about them. How much time will I have to spend watching her prance around making me curse Robert Plant? But that's another story.

The thing about It's Late is that I wouldn't complain about her doing it, if she did it right. It's a great song and I don't understand why Stevie and Chris can't sing it. I love Rick Nelson. I truly do. I mean, I collect Nelson family records, books and videos, so I'm not being glib at all. It's just that, quite frankly, Ozzie was more inimitable than Rick. So, it's not like no one else could do a decent version of that song. Stevie talking about arm curls is more exciting than her version of It's Late. I love all of Isaak's own music. Put Stevie, Chris and the song together, it should be manna. Yet they manage to ruin it.

I think there's something sly about the song, which Rick's sleepy vocal illuminated. You don't do it simply light and fast. It should be arch as well. Subtle innuendo, not forthright. Same thing with Wake Up Little Susie, for that matter. These kids have missed their curfew for a reason. Even if they're innocent, the social implications of their tardiness are not. I should hear that edge in the performance.

Here's a summary of Stevie's episode which I found on the BIO Channel site. Looks like the same old questions over and over.

Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Stevie Nicks gives us a sneak peak of "Gold Dust Woman" and "Stand Back" from her new CD. In an exclusive interview, Nicks talks to host, Chris Isaak about her years with Fleetwood Mac, her severe battle with cocaine and why she has never married. Isaak accompanies Nicks to perform songs that influenced her early career, such as "It's Late" and "Red River Valley".

Seems like March 5th is quite the Fleetwood Mac day for BIO, they have Stevie on TCIH, Fleetwood Mac on Biography and Lindsey on Private Sessions.

'The Chris Isaak Hour': Another must-see late-night talk show?
Feb 27, 2009, 03:45 PM | by Jeremy Medina

Categories: About Last Night, Music, Television

Did anyone else catch Chris Isaak's return to television last night? The singer-actor-personality debuted The Chris Isaak Hour on the Biography Channel, which is essentially his own version of Spectacle: Elvis Costello With... For his inaugural show, Isaak welcomed country star Trisha Yearwood. Now, I have to be honest: I wasn't particularly enthused about the show beforehand, and that can mostly be attributed to talk show fatigue. With Jimmy Fallon joining the late night fray on Monday, it feels a bit crowded in TV land these days.

But I found myself really charmed by The Chris Isaak Hour, and that's mostly because of Isaak himself. He has a sort of affable, goofy sincerity, and is not one to shy away from self-deprecating humor, which is of course why he's perfect for a show like this. It helps that he seems to have an easy rapport with Yearwood. In return, Yearwood was surprisingly candid in retracing her steps to stardom -- from tour guiding at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, meeting her future husband Garth Brooks for the first time, to joking how she pretty much gave Matthew McConaughey his career with a guest spot in her "Walkaway Joe" video. (Isaak astutely pointed out that McConaughey was, of course, shirtless at one point in the video.)

Spliced in between the interview were five performances: A couple of duets between Isaak and Yearwood (including "Breaking Apart," off Isaak's just-released Mr. Lucky album), and solo renditions of songs like "Cowboys Are My Weakness." All in all, a solid hour of television (if a bit awkward in spots). With guests like Stevie Nicks, Michael Buble, and Yusuf Islam (formerly known as Cat Stevens) forthcoming, I will definitely be tuning in again (the show will air weekly, Thursdays at 10 p.m.). What about you, PopWatchers? Who was digging the offbeat charm of Mr. Isaak? And did anyone else find it funny that Yearwood gave McConaughey one of his first big breaks?

Imagine hearing her sing and leer @ Chris while uttering those fabulously wicked words "what a wicked game you played to make me feel this way" in her best lower register.

One can dream.

I kinda like when she does covers because it reveals a little more about her and her influences and what she likes in music.

Though I do wish she would loosen up a bit and not be so damned rehearsed all the time. Must everything little freakin thing be planed and done to death. Why not just jam or in that kind of setting?

BellaDonna93 03-01-2009 06:21 AM

Well, you in the U.s have to post it on youtube or here because I really want to see it!
