Lindsey on KLOS at 9:30

Heard on the way in to to work that Lindsey is going to be on KLOS this morning at 9:30. Don't know if its over the phone or if hes live in studio.

michelej1 02-17-2009 12:28 PM

Thanks, I'm going to tune in now. Michele

They played SHN and then when it came time to introduce Lindsey he wasn't there. The DJs weren't too happy about it. They jokingly said, "he's supposed to be here, but he's not. Oh well, I guess he's not a friend of the show after all."

Lindsey's there. He says rehearsals have been cool so far. Everyone's still trying to become an adult and they are having fun.

Lindsey says of the new CD/DVD "yes, they're going to run that thing into the ground."

How does he feel knowing that everyone has Rumours in their album collection. He says it's not just the one album. It's good that he's done something with his life that worked its way into the fabric of everyone's life.

The memories are embedded and contextualized so that they stay with you no matter what. So, the CD/DVD didn't mean anything special to him. It didn't bring back memories for him.. The record company compiled it. It's just a marketing tool. FM wasn't involved except in an editorial capacity.

michelej1 02-17-2009 12:45 PM

Lindsey's been writing. He loved his last tour and thought it was too short. He wants to put out more solo work and also be prepared if FM wants to do something else.

How does he feel when people worship him, when they show up at his solo shows? "Well, I'm thinking gee what's wrong with these people? Because I have my own self-esteem issues right."

He says that he's lucky that he can make the big movie and the small movie and it's the small ones that keep you grounded in the religion of the music.

He likes the audience who likes his work that's more to the left.

recording.

Caller Michael asks a question,

Did banjo help him get his guitar technique? He wasn't a banjo player first. He started in the fifties with the guitar. He only got interested in the banjo when folk music swept the US. The fast roll stayed with him and translated into his guitar style, for one reason because he never got into using a guitar pick.

He's a "refined primitive" not skilled. He's just glad that he's found something he can call his own that he can do pretty well.

With a little gray by his temples is there a level of appreciation for what they've all accomplished together now, that breaks through the friction? Yes, he thinks so and he says you would think that would not have taken so long to get to.

But there were some tensions and you separate and come back together, so it's kind of a hit or miss thing. But they are apppreciating each other more and "in the face of adversity we triumph musically." They are now thinking in terms of dignifying the path they've been down together and trying to realize the love that's been there.

They mention something about not having an engineer for him one of the times he was on in the past and he laughs and says he remembers that and it's all rock and roll and he'll be back any time they want to talk to him.

Yes, far too short.

"if FM wants to do something else."

Well, there ya go.

I love that, since I do consider music my religion.

That's so refreshing and honest. Not at all like Mick - which seems to be, "Everyone LOVES Rumours, it's part of our psyche - everyone loves it so much, there's nothing they would love more than to have yet another rehashed reissue!" ;)

Why do I doubt that this means poetry?

Anyway, I think I just might die. More solo work!!! He's like butter (on a roll)!

Could mean poetry. Certain FM members have suffered injury trying to escape Sardonic World.

Thanks Wildheart for having the radio on (right place, right time)

Michele for your gift of typing and quoting - (the lawyer classes must have come in handy)

and to Niki for your technological expertise.

I love how this Ledge place is right on top of things.

(I would be sooooooo in the Medieval Ages without it.)

Thanks everybody for keeping me in the loop.

Great interview, thanks for posting! He does sound very happy and relaxed and even light hearted, which is nice to hear since sometimes he comes across as super serious. Great to hear he's also planning on continuing to release solo CD's!!

Peestie 02-19-2009 03:19 PM

Since he seems so psyched about more solo stuff I think it'd be great if he just did these 44 dates (are there more? I've lost track) with Fleetwood Mac and then just leave them to do his own stuff. Obviously if they can say that they want to record then do that because it might be the last chance, but if they're being wishy washy about it he should just do his own thing.

Lindsey is really weird these days because he has done an about-face in his attitude to the band. He of course always used to feel that the band was an obligation, but the last several years he seems to consider it some sort of fun situation, to which he wants to return again & again.

Peestie 02-19-2009 03:51 PM

I think he does want to get some sort of band atmosphere back but since FM has become something to get rolled out once every five years that must be hard to maintain. It's been said plenty of times, but Neale, Brette and Wally are the new band that he shares a connection and has fun with. Fleetwood Mac is just business these days, though I'm sure he wishes he could have the creative rapport with them again.

Your statement would be more accurate if you left out the word "fun."

He was likely miserable in his personal life and whatever challenges that came with him being in the band just made it all too much and not fun. Now that he's satisfied on the personal side, maybe he can now enjoy it. That or he sees the end:shocked:
