Definitely. Stevie has toured consistently and I don't expect that to stop, unless she's physically unable.

If Lindsey puts another album out, he'll tour again. Although it will doubtless have to be a short one. No one is going to fund him unless they think it will help them get some of the FM pie. After Unleashed is over, the monetary value of FM will have been tapped out, so I would think it would be even harder for Lindsey to get backing than it was before and it was already hard.

Really? I would think the opposite - that the Mac exposure would help him. Granted, WB will never spend the $ on him that would be necessary, but I could see him going independent - if he was mind to. I really wonder how into that he would be though - sometimes I think he's still too "old school" when it comes to the entire process and that he actually appreciates what a major label can do. Otherwise, he could have removed himself from that equation years ago, really...

Help him with fans, I hope. But would it help him with the brass? Whatever they did for UTS and GOS was probably because of FM. Once they get the big tour over with, will the label still help him because they want to keep hanging onto the FM brass ring?

I agree with you that Lindsey is still attached to the machinery. Even though he makes wry comments about DYMM being the "single" and hints that the promotion was nil, he still wants to be associated with a label.

SO is everyone pretty sure that there wont be a new Mac album after Unleashed is over? and do you all think there will be anymore US shows after San Diego?

Well, I am hoping for a new album and then a tour to support it. It's been talked about so who knows if it will happen or not (I hope it does!).

I think it all really depends on how the economy will be 4-6 months from now, and how Live Nation/the band feels about going into the secondaries that were skipped (and, most likely, the reduced payday for all involved). The North American plans for Coldplay, Madonna, and U2 (all major Live Nation touring properties) in 2009 have all been adjusted, or even canceled (in Madonna's case) due to uncertainty regarding the economy.

I dont think they will personally. Those bands you just mentioned all have a higher profile these days than Fleetwood Mac does. And if theyre doing that, I cant imagine Fleetwood Mac would be any different, dont you?

Ench 02-07-2009 03:00 AM

Concerning future FM albums, with Christine gone a very large proportion of "the work" will fall on Lindsey. And of course it doesn't help if you have 18 song albums. I can see his workload becoming a factor that might prevent future FM albums. Comments he's made about Stevie not thanking him for the work done on her songs may indicate some frustration even now.

I mostly agree, except, unlike Fleetwood Mac, Coldplay and Madonna are into the second year of touring promoting their albums. This whole Unleashed tour thing was supposed to set up an album & a resulting farewell tour (something resembling what Cher did a few years back). So, I have a feeling that they might shove this tour into fringe markets like Nashville, Grand Rapids, and Des Moines (or even Portland... lol) later in the summer.

U2, on the other hand, is shaking in their boots (yes, pun intended, sorry)

I garauntee you one thing. they'll never top playing in Bozeman Montana on SYW in 2004.

Lindsey Jr. 02-07-2009 06:54 AM

No new album will a huge letdown.

jmn3 02-07-2009 07:10 AM

I honestly don't see them doing an album at this point. I never believed that line in the first place - I always just took that as Lindsey's way of justifying going out without an album to tour behind again.

I tend to agree. Lindsey did most of the writing and recording of his last two albums on the road and Stevie has written on the road in the past as well. Maybe they're hoping some creative juices will start flowing once they're out there. I hope so!

I don't think Lindsey minds the work. It's not like he would be doing anything else with his time that he'd find as interesting. Yeah, at the end of SYW he was complaining that they were all in Hawaii and he wanted to go to Hawaii too, but I doubt that he really did. And I'm sure he didn't want them to help him with the production. It's like with Tango. When Mick had those outside producers, I'm sure he knew that they wouldn't last for long. He was using reverse psychology on Lindsey.

Complaining that he's not appreciated is a little different than complaining that the work load is too great.

Lindsey had been talking about a new album ever since SYW was finished and he obviously had his share of material for one So, I don't think it's just a justification on his part, but I also don't know if it will ever come to fruition. There's no desire for it on Stevie's part. Even if she didn't find Lindsey a trial, she is frustrated by the commericial disinterest and I doubt they'll be getting along so well on the tour that the sheer joy of working together will overshadow her reluctance.

Outside producers for Tango? Who and when? Was it in the demo stages?

When the project started, a guy named Jason Casaro was slated to produce in order to allow Lindsey a little respite from those chores. At some point after Casaro, there's a story that the band contacted Nigel Rodgers, the mastermind behind Chic. According to Mick, after a very short time, the band realized that an outsider was not going to be either willing or able to do things Mac's way.

Maybe the Mac version of "Juliet" was a Rodgers production, or even that weird "Joan of Arc" (which to me never sounded like Buckingham's ideas).

PoetofRhiannon 02-07-2009 10:36 PM

I still believe that a new album is possible..
and a tour to promote it.

Though, they might lay off for a while to wait for the economy.
They like to wait between albums and tour. :)

louielouie2000 02-08-2009 12:11 AM

I just don't see them doing another album at this point. Stevie was miserable during the whole Say You Will era, and thus after she got involved in the project, it seemed like nobody else was having a tremendous time either. Stevie clearly is upset about her diminished selling and star power, and couldn't handle the fact Say You Will didn't even go platinum or have a successful single. Thus she's disinterested in putting out any more new material, hence this "unleashed" tour (that name is such a damn farce...). For the first time ever, it seems like Lindsey and Mick couldn't give a damn about money, notoriety, and fame, and are just genuinely enjoying the art they're creating and sharing. John is just going with the flow as usual. So I think it all comes down to La Nicks, and she clearly doesn't want to do more recording. I hate the fact she's acting like such a child and holding everybody back. But if she doesn't wanna do it, she doesn't wanna do it. I guess at least we're still getting to see the band live...

I'm not sure that deciding you won't do things that you don't want to do is acting like a child. Particularly when those things made you miserable. If that's the way SN feels, particularly when she has a viable solo career, then I can understand the decisions she makes.

If not releasing an album in eight years and being a staple of the casino circuit comprises a "viable solo career", well then, lets get her on a co-headlining tour with Starship Featuring Mickey Thomas! Their killer "Sara" medley would be worth of the price of County Fair admission alone!

She wants the money, and doesn't mind the fact that about 10% of her fans will notice when she bitches & moans about how hard~~~ and painful it was to deal with Lindsey for night after $150K night after the tour is over.

BellaDonna93 02-08-2009 07:13 AM

I hope that they'll do a Mac album and continue the tour and come to Europe!

Her career looks pretty viable to me. Crystal Visions didn't go top 10 like Say You Will did, but it still got to no. 21, which is worthwhile.

And her touring schedule does include Casinos, but most of her concerts are outside Las Vegas: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevie_...age:_2006-2008

So, if she decides she doesn't want to do FM any more, she does have something to fall back on.

Fleetwood Mac always seems to consist of people who don't want to be in Fleetwood Mac. This is kind of common in bands, anyway--but not to the extraordinary degree it has been with Fleetwood Mac.

Good observation.

Though, I should point out that my comment was in response to apparent criticisms of SN, and was not really meant to be a general comment. Personally I think Stevie would agree to another FM album. It does help when someone is "writing all the time" and presumably has loads of material.

Lindsey Jr. 02-08-2009 04:19 PM

I can see them ending it all after the tour. It's sad, and in all honesty childish, that they can't get over those "things".

sjpdg 02-13-2009 04:37 PM

I think Lindsey will tour solo again, Stevie has the potential to tour solo again, but she will need to make a record first.

I think Mick most definitely will tour again. He had a good run in '08 with the "Mick Fleetwood Blues Band" and seems to have a decent following (from what I've heard) with the "Island Rumours Band". With Rick Vito out front, all Mick really needs is another guitarist (Billy Burnette perhaps??) and the MFBB will be on a roll!! Plus it's not as rigorous a tour schedule with MFBB as it would be with FM. They can cover/re-interpret existing blues material from the Peter Green days, Rick certainly has the chops to write blues material for the band, Billy is no slouch in the song writing department either, so the potential for Mick is certainly there to keep right on going if this turns out to be the end for the B/N era of FM. John would certainly join Mick on occassion for a show here and there with MFBB also, I'm sure. The two of them might even be able to persuade Christine to sit in on a couple of shows in the UK and do some of her classics like "I'd Rather Go Blind".

That's my humble opinion anyway.

sjpdg 02-13-2009 10:24 PM

Hate to respond to myself, but I had another thought in between my post here and now.

If the MFBB does go on, with hopeful addition of Billy or some other secondary guitarist to back up Rick, then John could join whenever he felt like it, and possibly bring in the outstanding voice of Lola Thomas who sang on John's "Gotta Band" release. She could do some of Christine's older songs, pre-B/N with FM if Christine really didn't want to perform any more.

Just a thought.

Actually, she could also possibly be recruited for this "unleashed" tour to stand in for Christine and perform her songs. That voice would be incredible on "Oh Daddy", "You Make Loving Fun" and other Christine hits.

My humble opinion, but there it is.

mylittledemon 02-13-2009 10:30 PM

I would of course love to see them make another album after this tour.

However, I won't be a bit surprised IF things go ill on this tour (between Lindsey & Stevie naturally) and they won't be so quick to jump into the studio.
