What will be the "Unleashed" set closing song?
 

How will those kids in FM close out their "Unleashed" hits tour setlist? Probably not "Goodbye Baby" again since it was not a hit. Will Stevie be shameless enough to attempt "Songbird" (in a lower key)? Will they dust off "Farmers Daughter" again, since it was actually released as a single in some countries? Something else entirely?

Don't Stop maybe? .... I'm just sincerely hoping they won't do Songbird. As much as I'd like to see this song live, I can only imagine Christine doing it justice.

I would agree in that I can't see them doing "Goodbye Baby" again. I am horrified at the thought of either of them trying to sing "Songbird." Stevie would massacre it from a vocal standpoint and Lindsey would more than likely rearrange it into guitar obscurity and also massacre it with his vocals.

They could always close with "Landslide" if they were looking to maintain the Fleetwood Mac tradition of closing with a slow song. Or maybe something altogether different but in the same vein...an acoustic version of "When I See You Again" with just the two of them on stage or just go out with an extended jam on "Don't Stop."

I'm also interested in seeing if they open with something different than "The Chain." Was it in the Destiny Rules documentary that Lindsey said something to the effect of not being able to open with "The Chain" again for the SYW tour? Obviously his opinion was changed or overruled. I know the structure of the song leads it to being a perfect opener, but something different would be nice. I always thought "Tusk" would work. It's well known, you can extend the intro as long as you need to (those odd, um, 'Tusk' noises, whatever they are), it's got a great beat, a solid ending, and it's not terribly long. I would save "The Chain" for the first encore after the big "Go Your Own Way" ending (because you know that will be the last song before the encores).

Landslide is the only hit, so that got my vote.

It doesn't have to be a hit and I would challenge that if history shows anything, it won't be a hit. "Songbird", "The Farmer's Daughter", "Goodbye Baby"....no hits.

I think everyone looks too much into the tour being called "Hits." I mean, if it's hits only....then say goodbye to setlist stalwarts "The Chain", "Gold Dust Woman", "Never Going Back Again", "Second Hand News", "I'm So Afraid", "World Turning", basically anything off of Tusk except for the title track and "Sara", and for that matter, "Landslide" wasn't really a "hit" until The Dance.

Calling the tour what they are is basically a cheesy way of giving them a reason to go out and make some cash. There is no way they are going to limit their setlist to strictly "hits"/successful singles.

If memory serves, they were originally going to open with 'Monday Morning'.

I think the last song should be 'Landslide', but with Mick and John as well. I wouldn't mind 'Storms' if they could do a nice live version.

I think HAEWAFY actually has a chance- it was a Top 40 solo hit and it has previously appeared in an FM set. It would be interesting if Lindsey could rearrange it into a pared-down, solo guitar piece without all the orchestral bombast.

I initially assumed that "Don't Stop" would have been the closer, but that is rather uncharacteristic for the band- to end things with an upbeat song. Also, in these bleak times, I think it's a bit disingenuous to end on such a cheery note- there is nothing ironic about that song.

I.would.plotz. But it's such a horrendously tragic song. Yes, "Goodbye Baby" was also tragic, but at least it ends with the hope that "I'll be with you once more." By contrast, there is no coming to grips with "Storms" - ultimately it's basically Stevie saying "I screwed up and cannot salvage this mess we're in." If FM wants to send us off with the warm and fuzzies, that is certainly not the song for it.

I also think that when they call it a ''hits'' tour they really don't mean songs that just were on the charts as hits but the songs that everyone knows by heart. I also tend to think that
we may get a few gems that people once knew awhile back but have not been done on stage in quite a long time such as.

So it might be very intresting to see what they can pull off. The one thing i really don't want to see is a tour mixed with fleetwood mac,stevie solo,and lindsey solo stuff. Which
without christine being there might be the case seeing that if you take away all the ''hit''
songs by christine they really don't have enough to work with as far as known songs.

The "Unleashed" set closing song will be Go Your Own Way. I think it's better for ending the show than the main set. They'll close the main set with The Chain and open with Second Hand News.

I think the closing song will be a slow one, no matter what. They aren't going to break with that tradition.

I don't think Lindsey would rearrange the guitar on Songbird at all. He would probably play it much the same way that he and John did when they accompanied Christine. It's not like he doesn't already have a history with it.

I know this will NEVER happen and I know this song and the album it's found on were probably the least popular in FM history, but "The Second Time" from Behind the Mask is one of my all time favs from the Mac and I always thought it would be a beautiful show closer. Wow, that was a long sentence!! :laugh: So, of course, they'd never attempt it because noboby would know it but I still think it would be wonderful. It's very similiar to Landslide IMO.

Maybe they deceide to go out with a bang and choose "The Chain" as a closing song, or "Tusk"?

Come on you guys......we have to face it, and i am alright with it.....Goodbye baby is the new Songbird, it can't be Landslide, because there is no closure in that song with the audience, just closure between lindsey and stevie, haha

I think it will be Sara, Beautiful Child or maybe even Storms. I am almost 100% sure it will be a Stevie song and PRETTY sure it will be from Tusk whereas Rumors is alittle harder and there is nothing other than Songbird on that album to really close out a concert with. Landslide.....that belongs in the middle of a set. Farmers Daughter would be awesome but I bet $1 million it won't happen. Remains to be seen. This is a great pole. Interesting to see others perspective on this topic.

They closed with "Don't Stop" in Madison, if my memory serves. It was kind of anti-climactic, but I can absolutely see them doing it again for this tour.

I think Crystal would be a beautiful set closer. Don't think they've ever done it live (could be wrong) but it would make a great closer!!!

Seems like we're all automatically assuming that it's going to be a song Stevie sings and thus gets the entire band on stage again. Does that really need to be the case? Songs like Farmer's Daughter work because they can all come out and play together in an intimate sense. But back when they did Songbird (Dance tour comes to mind) it was just Christine. So why not a Lindsey song that's just him? Like something slow that went over really well from the Gift of Screws tour?

If this was indeed a farewell-type tour, I think a slow Never Going Back Again would be great for a closure (like the version on the "Live" album) - and it sums up the status of the band's legacy and the fact that it could be the end. Plus unlike Goodbye Baby or Farmer's Daughter, it's a song the casual bulk of fans know. Although...I don't believe this is a farewell-type tour :-)

I think so too! For some reason, I've been thinking a lot about that song lately, for some strange reason. Maybe just wishful thinking but they, I never thought they'd play "Beautiful Child" so I suppose there's hope.

More realistically, I do think The Chain would be an awesome closer if they're not going to close with a new song.

I'd like to hear the band end the show with a fairly traditional rendition of "Twilight on the Trail."

It's a thoughtful ballad, suffused with the loneliness of western canyons & dry prairies. It's essentially the same theme as "A Satisfied Mind" (found on Lindsey's first solo album).

I think it was because of noise restrictions, not choice. Remember they lost time in Madison due to the sound and the (quite lovely) push ups.

But along those same Mick look lines, Sara would not be a bad closer.

It's slow, dreamy, brings the show to a quiet close, the fans know it and, apparently, FM isn't afraid to do it anymore.

Sound went out and Lindsey used up some of the extra time by doing push ups. Made Stevie laugh. She said, "I had no idea you could that." And, I hate to be disgustingly shippy, but when he crawled over and asked her to help him up off the ground, she did so with many, many caresses.

I'm not a shipper, in that I don't want them to be together. I think that ship sailed long ago, but I can definitely be stirred when they are doing extremely cute things like that.
