NEW FL. MAC DVD and Rumours CD with unreleased tracks.
I might have missed it, I don't read every thread. But I'm surprised that nobody is talking about the new DVD/CD set that's going to be released to coincide with the tour.
|
Really? You're surprised? Most of us who've been her a while are SICK of the various repackagings of Rumours. I bet MOST people here would be more excited with expanded reissues of Fleetwood Mac Live, Mirage, Tango In The Night, and whatever the hell else they could reissue before a Rumours boxed set.
Me? I'm waiting for the 1973 and 1975 sets from Midnight Special to come out on DVD. It'll never happen, but damnit, it should for Miles Away, Believe Me, and Why. For that matter, release the Midnight Special from 1974. Those were a glorious, if not mostly underrated time in Fleetwood Mac's history. |

But isn't this a better topic than, oh...I don't know, another poll? |

I am interested in the "never before heard" stuff, but how many times do they need to re-issue Rumours? |
we want Mirage and Tango In The Night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
as well as the solo albums Stevie and Lindsey released in the 80's! |

Actually, it just hit me that maybe the Rumours re-release on CD will be joined by a vinyl 180 gram re-release of Rumours!!! The prospect of that actually has me VERY for a Rumours re-release.

Really? How many repackagings have there been? There was the "original" CD release from the 80's, then later, a few years ago, the remastered version with the CD of outtakes. That's only two in CD format. And most bands/artists have released remastered versions of the bad-sounding CDs that were put out by the labels in the 80's when CDs first came out; this is not by any means Rumours-specific. Ok, then there was the DVD-Audio, but that was a different format that required a DVD-A player to actually hear the mix; this won't even play on a CD palyer, and now the format is dead, anyway. Were there other releases of Rumours besides these? |

8-track cassette cassette with the white Fleetwood Mac album CD DVD-A Expanded edition CD (which didn't sound all that different, to my ears) Classic albums Why do a Rumours box before remastering Mirage, which is the epitome of a bad-sounding CD put out in the 80's? Get to the other stuff first, then revisit Rumours. Hell, reissue the Tusk doc and Mirage concert video first. Dare I say reissue expanded editions of albums from Then Play On through Heroes Are Hard To Find? There is so much more to the band's history, and they're just going on cruise control with Rumours. A classic example of how to release another expanded edition of a recently reissued/expanded album would be the Byrds album Sweetheart of the Rodeo. Yeah, it was recently reissued as a two CD set shortly after a remastered version was released. But, the other (Columbia) albums were reissued with remastered/expanded editions first. |

I'm starting to believe the only thing that would make me happy at this point is if they play Rumours start to finish & Christine is there. So I'm going to shut up now. :D |

More Rumours... Ground Breaking...
Good thing Lindsey didn't want a Rumours II.... he got about 12 of them... |
I WOULD LOVE to have the TUSK documentary. I don't care how much it would cost! I just loved that! I lost it in a house fire that I had YEARS ago, along with a HUGE collection of things released before I was born, lol. I need to see TUSK DOC re-released on BLURAY! LOL (LIKE THAT WILL EVER HAPPEN!) I just hope that this doesn't put the mac in with meatloaf, stuck int that, "bat out of hell" situation... ya know?

And I disagree that the DVD-A and Remastered Ex. Edition didn't sound all that different. I wish like the rest of you that they would remaster Mirage and Tango, and even the pre-Buckingham Nicks era albums. But would they sell? This last bit of information is just a guess on my part, and has nothing to do with anything I've heard officially (I kind of hope I'm wrong too). But I think the video that will be released with the updated version of Rumours will be like what was released with Stevie's "Crystal Visions". Follow me? (Again that's not official) |

So when I meet Mick I am gonna say, "Hey, why not give us what we want? A Fleetwood Mac (ALL INCLUSIVE) Documentary BOX SET?!" I think that is what we all would like to see. Get it on a general, usable, and easy to use format then BRING IT TO US! We all want it. OFFICIAL, and PAID FOR! ya know? Maybe he will say that I have great ideas and take me on the road with him raking in millions, lol! A fella can dream, can't he?
|
Have you seen that Beatles video box? Can you imagine an all-inclusive Fleetwood Mac box? One that would have every video and professionally recorded show in the band's history? Two DVDs of the Peter Green years (if there's enough material). One DVD from the Welch years (maybe with Fleetwood Mac-related clips from the Roxy video, to fill out the DVD, since there's not that much video footage from that era). Largo. Rosebud. Japan. Tusk Doc. Mirage concert video. Tango In The Night (expanded/unedited). Another Link In The Chain. Classic Albums. The Dance. Live In Boston. Music videos. History of the band DVD. I'm sure it would be harder than hell to clear all of those copyrights, but the thought kicks ass. Yeah, I'd fork over big bucks for something like that. In a heartbeat.

If I could speak frankly with Mick...I'd say this: Get someone like Dashut, who is probably doing jack all, to remaster the 80s albums (Mirage, Tango). They need to release the Mirage concert remastered on DVD. The Tusk tour Documentary needs a DVD release. The Dance needs a new DVD release, in widescreen, with bonus footage (hell, there were 3 nights that were filmed!!) Put them out! PERIOD. And on top of all that, they need to do whatever they need to do to get Christine back. They're missing a small part of the "magic." |

so this tour is the Dance pt deux? |
Quote:
 OMG YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will sell my non existent offspring for all that stuff  |

And there were 2 nights of Mirage. I don't need them to reedit footage or anything. Just put the concerts out the way they were filmed. And let us judge the different takes for ourselves. I'd enjoy seeing that more than the lightened, sweetened finished product they give us any time. Michele |

Most big fans (myself included) would be more than willing to spend a couple hundred bucks on a sweet package that contains the stuff you mentioned above. But I don't know that too many casual fans are going to say "hey, it's a NEWER release of Rumours with a DVD. Hmm...I just bought a copy a few years back, but I'll buy another in case there's something different on this one." |
I was just reading some DVD reviews and one new release is for the game show Password, highlights from 1962-1967. Huh??
Don't get me wrong, I will buy this DVD. They had some celebrity contestants on that show that I would like to see (young Letterman and Woody Allen, etc.). I'm just saying if there's a market for that kind of thing, I know they could make money by just opening up the FM vault. Why is Mick, who could always use a dollar, hoarding everything? Michele |
^ I've said it before & I'll say it again - bands & artists who are less well-know/popular with much lower sales figures than Mac have released comprehensive collections containing most (if not all) of their albums remastered & old footage on DVD. Why not Mac?
