jannieC 12-13-2008 10:09 PM

I am.......

Chrislit18 12-13-2008 10:12 PM

yeah, my friends bullied me into joining...

I feel Facebook is a dark abyss that sucks you in and never lets you go.

Moz 12-14-2008 12:59 AM

Yep, I am. I'm surprised that there isn't a Ledgie group on there!

chriskisn 12-14-2008 03:26 AM

I run two groups (and small they are too) on there - one for Rick Vito (yes he does have a few fans - about 15 to be correct) and one called Fleetwood Mac Was More Than Stevie Nicks There Were 16 Members. Not a very popular group sadly.

jannieC 12-14-2008 12:36 PM

I joined the Stevie Nicks is my Fairy Godmother group.

I'm joining

Someone should! make a Ledgie group...:)

GoldDustOrphan 12-14-2008 02:50 PM

I am on facebook. It's an efficient communication & networking tool, but I can't stand all of the cutesy devices facebook has engineered to keep users interacting, thereby increasing traffic and page turns. Every day I'm overwhelmed by people sending "a little piece of green," or kidnap requests, or a vampire is biting you or "join my cause." I get about 30 of these a day. It's possible to block all of this stuff, but then you just come off as a too-cool-for-school sourpuss.
I did join the Stevie Nicks is My Fairy Godmother, but all the Stevie/FM groups are essentially The Ledge with training wheels. There's no incentive to check out what's happening with the group or conversation., etc. Most of the posts are "I love Stevie! And so does my m0m! Stand Back rocks! Do you love Stevie as much as ME? I bet you don't!!!!!!!! LOL

Moz 12-14-2008 03:12 PM

Here are some other FM facebook groups:

Mick Fleetwood keeps the BEAT

John McVie is the coolest mother****er alive.

Tusk is the BEST Fleetwood Mac album, screw Rumours!

I Love Christine McVie!

You know, I joined Facebook a couple months ago. The purpose was to try and track down old friends, classmates, etc. and I was amazed how many people I was able to get in touch with! Some of these people I hadn't seen or talked to in over 30 years. Scattered out all over the place. It was interesting to see what they looked like, how they were doing - all that stuff.

But I noticed an interesting thing- once you've made contact and caught up on bio's, there's really no purpose to communicate anymore. The curiosity is satisfied, so everyone just kind of goes away. The memories that were shared in the past are just that - past memories. Other than that there is nothing in common. Kind of sad actually.

Weird note- Dan Fogelberg's "auld ang syne (sp)" is playing on the radio right. Too much:shocked:

Yes! I just deleted all of the application stuff off my facebook page. Was over hatching eggs, virtual pets and getting plants or fish sent to me!

I don't even really communicate with any of the "friends" I have on there except occasionally the people who are really friends in real life. I only really use facebook to post in groups etc. (oh yeah and to stalk people )

Interestingly, I have not had this experience at all. I have been exchanging lengthy e-mails with some very old friends and making plans to get together. Now, whether or not this will actually HAPPEN is another story, I know. I was just found by an old middle school friend today- she is an Ob/Gyn who is married to a neurosurgeon- whoa!

I ignore every single pillow fight, snowball thrown, smile sent, etc. It's too hard to keep up.

marinnette 12-14-2008 07:02 PM

wow! the ledge should have a facebook group. it would be great!!!!!! I think we could get to know each other better!

Me too, I get tons of those things. Oy, who could ever keep up?
But it is fun to reconnect with some old friends, though I have to say there were some startling reconnections when I first signed on, and indeed, after the curiosity is abated it sort of slips away. Other reconnections seem to be lasting. So, it's a mixed bag.

Yes, exactly. I lived in one area of New York until 8th grade, then moved to another area for JR/SR high school. So, not only am I reconnecting with HS people, but elementary school people as well. SO weird. To see the faces, in some cases 30 years later, is startling.

Moz 01-09-2009 02:44 PM

How's this for a Ledgie group?

Just thought I'd bump this thread for those who came in late...

Yes we do have a Ledge group on Facebook that was created by Moz:

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...id=45058273563

Not much happens there but hey it provides us with a central point on Facebook for the Ledgies.

I know that a lot of us have added each other, but for the newbies, you'll find a lot of the Ledgies are also on facebook - damn addictive waste of time

I've added a lot of you, but anyone wanting to add me then this is me:
