Vote for your least favorite song for the tie-breaker so we can move onto the next round. :)

I'm rooting for another tie.
And if it's a tie, they should both go out simultaneously!!

Fair enough. They have to go sometime anyway.

Villavic 11-17-2008 04:33 PM

Eyes of the world is wonderful!!!! No doubt is far better than SB

GoS 11-17-2008 05:11 PM

[I'm going to try a new method here]

Everyone who reads this message will go and vote for SB.

shackin'up 11-17-2008 05:30 PM

It's a total shame that EOTW is in this position anyway. Unbelievable, how FM-fans can be disconnected from their "love-designer".

I take it that if all of LB's songs on Mirage were not eliminated and all of CM's and La Nicks' were, you'd see no bias :wavey:

Interestingly, I think Straight Back and Gypsy are LB's best works on Mirage. His guitar in Gypsy is likely his best work in FM IMO. So, to me, though Gypsy generally is considered a Nicks song, it is a very cohesive group effort that she happened to write and sing lead on.

jbrownsjr 11-17-2008 07:27 PM

I personally really like both songs... i usually don't care who the composer is when I vote...

vermicious knid 11-17-2008 08:53 PM

I voted Eyes of the World.

Say You Will tour version: propulsive and invigorating
Mirage version: weak

strandinthewind 11-17-2008 09:38 PM

My fav. version.

I love CM on this.

I love La Nicks' tittie jiggle while doing the twist, closely followed by a shuffle across the stage without a hint of rhythm to it - all while looking SMOKIN HOT

I love LB's blistering guitar solo.

All in all, the end of an era.

And - they rehearsed it. So, WTF

To be fair, by the time they recorded the Mirage video, her voice sounded nothing like the Straight Back recoded I posted earlier.

Actually we would, due to the fact that such songs as Can't Go Back and Empire State aren't very good.

Kinda like how That's Alright and Straight Back are.

Just a pity that Lindsey's best songs are also being voted off before aforementioned crap.

nailatixela 11-18-2008 08:58 AM

DW, not everyone has to have the same favorite songs as you. Personally, I love Can't Go Back and That's Alright and I think they are great songs. What you think is crap might be others favorites, and what you love others might hate.

So please, let's stop the bitterness! These polls are supposed to be fun so if you can't handle the results please DON'T PLAY WITH THE REST OF US (or just quietly vote) who can deal if our favorite gets voted off.

I want everybody to have fun with these, not get all upset because they don't like the results and the winning song isn't the same as their favorite.

I voted for SB. You won't see me posting in Round 9 crying about it if it's still in though. Personally, I like EOTW better than Hold Me.

The bad vibes haven't been because a particular song hasn't won. It's not like we're kids in the sandbox. It was the begging for votes in another forum that stuck in most people's craw. As if to say, "Hey, if you don't come over here and vote for Stevie right away you're not a fan. Save Straight Back!" Like it has any effect on anything except for annoying others.

Actually, it has had sort of a strange effect on me. I have always been a "yay, the Mac has three lead singers" as well as a teen chiffonhead. But this poll, for whatever stupid reason, has me leaning toward the Lindsey AND Chris material. I feel silly about all of it, I mean, really a poll with just dozens of votes? But I would have preferred it to run its own course rather than the way it turned out. Can't believe chiffonheads find every single Stevie song preferable to some quality Lindsey and Chris stuff. Not just this album obviously.

Of course, there's no way I'm not voting Gypsy to win. But every round, I have voted SB.

Well, there is a long history of that here. PM's and emails are also often used. I've even had a phone call or two to me back in the day. So, it doesn't really phase me.

As for Straight Back and That's Alright - I think they are amongst La Nicks' better vocals and that is why I voted for them as opposed to the IMO weaker LB songs on this record.

jbrownsjr 11-18-2008 11:30 AM

C'mon everybody... Tuesday's children are filled with grace.... :woohoo:

There was NOTHING wrong with them posting in the other forum to let other fans know about the poll. NOTHING. (other than the fact that it was done in the Stevie forum rather than in the Lindsey one obviously.) And Alot of the Fans of hers tend to like that song, and ARE voting for it because they like it. and not just because it happens to be a song of hers. So there is no need to assume otherwise.

nailatixela 11-18-2008 01:05 PM

Well whatever gets you upset - if it's a song that gets voted off, or a topic created in another section, don't let it get to you. It's just a poll and doesn't really matter.

Not true... this is the most important thing that I can think of (even more important than breathing).:D I just like that we spend so much time talking about this kind of stuff. Its funny.

(When I went to edit this to fix the quote, the button said "Vote Now," rather than "Save." Weird. Just thought that I'd share)

[Edit #3] Wow! This is tied, wow, that is cool, will we kick both off?

jbrownsjr 11-18-2008 01:45 PM

It's a tight race!!!!

You think there's nothing wrong with it and that's fine.
I think there's something wrong with it and guess what, that's fine too.
A person's reaction to something is their reaction.
It has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with Stevie vs. Lindsey, which seems to be chiffon's gut reaction to any eyebrow that is raised. And that's what is seriously turning me off. Again, a reaction that is both mine and fine.

And I still hope both go if it remains tied.

Oh please, just stop already. You have taken this whole thing wayyyy too seriously and you are trying to make it personal with me by your very very misguided interpretation of my post over in SN. Calling what I did "begging"
says more about your insecurities and lack of humor than anything I have said or done.

I tried to be humorous and diplomatic about this poll but some people are so caught up in their own little world that they can't see beyond their own opinions.

LONG LIVE STRAIGHT BACK!!!

Did you read the post I made before you? It explicitly states that I can see beyond my own opinion.
I agree, it's a stupid little poll. I'm not taking it too seriously. I'm making comments about it on a message board. Ever notice how people take comments made on a message board like they're talking about life and death? Well, I am not. And you are not. We have differing opinions. I'm fine with that. Let me have mine and don't be what you say I am.
Come on, tie!

Villavic 11-18-2008 03:12 PM

It's 3.12 ET and the tiebreaker status is a tie!!!

macpai 11-18-2008 03:52 PM

I love it!
It's the ideal solution.
Send them both packing.

jbrownsjr 11-18-2008 04:41 PM

Mirage has been fun!!!

Chrislit18 11-18-2008 05:05 PM

So this was a completely redundant tiebreaker poll.

Yay 23-23

:P

Can't we just take SB off so at least 1 song by each songwriter is represented. The other will probably go next anyways.

jbrownsjr 11-18-2008 05:06 PM

Let's do it like the NBA

Overtime # 2...

Except for the blistering solo's. He still pours them out with the same blister, passion, pace, sharpness and soul.

I think his solos have somewhat lessened in intensity. IMO GYOW on the FM Live record is way more intense to me than The Dance or later versions, which I think are still good, but just not as intense. LB is like pizza - even when it is bad, it is still pretty good

Oh. come on. Strand. Take the opportunity to listen to the live solo's on IKINW, Great Day, Love Runs Deeper and even SHN. You can't say the intensity is lessened. Go your own way? On the "controlled" (read: officially recorded versions) I agree with you, but on the bulk of the bootlegs he just goes bazerk on them. He's been singing that song like crap on the UTS tour, GOS was better, but on the soloing you can't say he's lost intensity. Sometimes he overstretches and it falls apart in industrial noise-which I sometimes even prefer..but that aside..., but basicly he soars out a heck of a vigorised solo to these ears.

Nah - I think he was wilder from Tusk back. Then again, they all were.

Again, his current stiff is good if not great though. I agree with ya there.

Actually, one of the more intense things I think he did was Say Goodbye on the SYW tour. I get that that song is not a rock and roll song, but the cadence of the song is intense to me, not to mention the looks those two gave each other.
