I voted for it too.

(Where you for it [staying] before you were against it?)

wolfontherun 11-10-2008 08:22 PM

Straight Back is one of the best FM songs ever recorded.
My god how can people not like this song it is like the ultimate FM song. You can hear everyone's imput to cleary yet they all meld together as well.

The soaring vocal, the way Christines honey voice softens the rough edges of Stevies, Micks big walloping drums, Johns signature rythym base line, and of course Lindsay closes it out with a big guitar track.

OH THE HUMANITY!!!!!

I know to each their own.

I love all of these things.
And yet I don't find Straight Back to the be the quintessential FM song in the slightest. Slight FM song, yes.

bucklind17 11-10-2008 09:10 PM

I'm a bit surprised Straight Back is getting more votes than That's Alright. I think That's Alright is my least favorite Stevie FM song!

nailatixela 11-10-2008 10:26 PM

I voted for Wish You Were Here...don't care for it that much...Christine didn't even write the lyrics!

Chrislit18 11-11-2008 07:43 AM

^^
True about WYWH

See, I think we need to get Stevie songs out before they consume the poll [then I'd go for EOTW...because the Mirage Tour version is a million times better]
Which is why SB gets my vote
I don't think it is a horrible song. I prefer it to the album version of EOTW.

Ditto.

I've never disliked the song but it just leaves me feeling completely numb afterwards. I just think it's so bland.

I agree that we need to kick out the Nicks songs. It is time that someone else has a chance.

GypsySorcerer 11-11-2008 01:29 PM

I like all the ones left. :( I'll go with "Wish You Were Here."

GoS 11-11-2008 01:38 PM

Right now there are two songs with no votes, Gypsy and Hold Me. I wonder what that means about the fate of those songs...

michelej1 11-11-2008 01:40 PM

I would place Hold Me among my Top 5 of all FM songs. So, I hope the fact that it has no votes means something good. Michele

Yeah I remember in 1982 when it was released... I was like wow what a strange great tune!

macpai 11-11-2008 06:20 PM

I crack up when songs get votes one round and not the next. My least favorite song doesn't change, haha.

jbrownsjr 11-11-2008 06:23 PM

I always thought Wish You Were Here was a great album closer...

Like I said to each their own. I feel sorry though for those who can't find the joy that I do with this song. It is FABULOUS and one of their best.

I already have too much Mac joy the way I obsess about this band. I guess I'll sit that one out. Or maybe some day I will take to it. Of course, it's already quite a few years under the bridge.

macpai 11-11-2008 09:29 PM

We'll get you next round, Straight Back! (And your little dog, too!)

Does anyone else think of Silversprings when this song starts? I think Christine ripped off Stevie here.

It's Christine's intro. She didn't take it from Stevie. She took it from herself.

The Dance Silver Springs takes it from WYWH. The studio SS doesn't have it.

Come on people. It's a band. They all agree when they swop peces of songs into eachother. Very possible that Christine suggested this intro for the live SS and they all liked it.

It's a shame this song got kicked out. It's a great track with a very beautiful ending. Perfect closer.

I haven't heard the studio version, so I didn't know that. Cool.

I am sorry for any aggravation that I may have caused you Shacking Up.
