I said the final round would be between Sara and Tusk. Well I was close!!

Stevie is definately being given an unfair advantage, I must say.

Tusk should have won, hands down!

Oh come on people. Stevie's songs on this album are absolutely great and these two songs are as deserving as any of being in the top spot. If they weren't labelled "Stevie songs" and just "Fleetwood Mac songs" as they ought to be, people wouldn't be having such a hissy. Chiffonheads are perfectly capable of admitting when a Stevie song is crap, which is easy to see in the polls on the Stevie forum, and will deffo become clear here when we get to Tango in the Night. I wish people would quit belittling the choices the majority have gone with just because their individual personal choices haven't made it to the end.

I voted Sara. I originally wanted IKINW to win, but Sara's an incredible song.

I love Stevie's songs. This is the quintessential LB album though. It just feels wrong. ;)
Having said that ... I also voted Sara. It's just a picturesque song that evokes a lot of emotion.

An "unfair advantage"!? So, Stevie is really great and has a lot of fans, so they vote to keep her songs in a poll. WTH is unfair about that!?

Aye Macpai. It IS a LB album at heart. But Sisters seems to be winning, and it's really Lindsey that gave that song its pull. His presence is throughout Tusk, not just on his half of it. :)

The fact that she is given all the votes...honestly all of Christine's songs go first, den Lindsey's. Stevie might be more flashy and project a more mystifying image but Lindsey's creative process is so unique and great, and Christine's love songs and so soothing and nice and even rocking sometimes. They should get a chance to win. But the voters are biased. Now I'm more of a Stevie fan than any of the other members of FM but don't get me wrong, I know when a song by Lindsey or Christine is better than Stevie's and "Tusk" should have automatically won this face-off.

"Better" is pretty subjective. Tusk lasted a good lot longer than many tunes I'd prefer to it, from all three writers. We all have different ideas of which songs are the best. And people are reversing the cause-effect relationship here. People don't vote for Stevie songs because they're "Stevie fans". Rather, people become fans of Stevie in the first place because they love her songs. There's no bias here. People are simply voting for the songs they love, as the poll instructs, and that just happens to be what Stevie has served up for them this time around.

Also this is a relatively small sample, I mean three dozen Mac fans? If this was a Gallup poll, there would be a 50 percent margin of error.

So far only a couple of dozen cast here. Sisters' early lead is all but gone.

I voted Sisters because Sara is... well, it's a bit of a snooze. I normally love long, winding, swirling songs like that but Sara has never done anything for me. :shrug:

I think that's only correct to a point. Yes, the music may be what draws you in, but once you become a fan of someone's you're often going to have a bias towards their songs period, regardless of merit -- even if merit is what got you there in the first place. Love and familiarity breeds a lot of leniency. Also, there's a natural tendency to want the star you like to prevail no matter what, even in a small poll.

I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan. I'm pretty sure if I was voting in a poll I'd have a tendency to give even their foulest songs a more favorable vote than I would an Eagles' song, regardless of merit.

I don't care what Tom Petty has done. I don't care how good he is. When I went to his concert, I wasn't going there to see him and there's not a hit he could perform, no prowess he could exhibit that interested me as much as Stevie simply singing back up on American Girl, much less doing Insider.

The presence of all of them permeates everything. If the ONLY version of "Sara" that everyone knew was the 1981 Fox Wilshire concert video version, it wouldn't evoke anything like the extreme love it has evoked since then. A vote for "Sara" on TUSK is a vote for all of Fleetwood Mac, so I feel good about it! :thumbsup:

If it's any consolation, Rolling Stone magazine's Critics' Poll voted TUSK the song of the year in 1979.

Hmmm. Yes, I did. And actually I had to fly from Los Angeles to San Francisco to see the show, because it was too difficult to get good seats for the Los Angeles shows. So, I went to San Francisco and had a front row seat, but I paid a fortune for it. I had to stand outside in front of the Greek Theater waiting for the ticket broker's guy to show up with the ticket. I felt like a jewel fence or something. Oh well . . .

Let me tell you, I would do much more than that for Fleetwood Mac.

that's why i did not appear in this whole face off. A lindseysong will NEVER win on a FM-board like this. it's all about Stevie. And that on an album that has to thank it's spectacular overall artistic quality to LB. It's pretty painful that rolling stone saw it more sharp in 79 than the fans 29 years later. :shrug:

If you and at least two other people at the forum DID appear this faceoff, he could have/would have won. Gotta be in it to win it.

As for the Rolling Stone/fans thing, well, a sizable amount of fans at this board did see it that way. And just a repeat of something I said earlier, I wouldn't deem three dozen Mac fans (including myself) to be representative of what the entire Fleetwood Mac landscape would select anyway. This poll is a very small sampling done just for fun.
