Little Big Town Remembers The Thrill
Here's an excerpt from an interview with LBT:
http://www.theshorthorn.com/index.ph...025&Itemid=188 The Short Horn, October 30, 2008 Who are some people you’ve yet to work with that you still hope to? I love John Mayer, his songwriting and vulnerability. Dolly Parton — I’m a huge, huge fan and would love to meet her and sing with her. And Emmylou Harris. One of the best things we got to do was a show with Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac for CMT’s “Crossroads.” We spent five days with him and he’s electric — just oozes talent and energy. The show lasted an hour but we could’ve done that for a whole week. |
I wonder if LB asks them about their obvious The Chain rip -off "Bones"?

I just watched that show for the first time and I was blown the f away.

It's wonderful whenever I read people recognizing Lindsey's talent and not necessarily the obligatory album review or magazine article preceding or following the release of new material. He's an extraordinary artist and it does make me a little sad when he isn't given the full recognition and credit he deserves. But quite like fine wine he only gets better, and perhaps like many artists of old the total impact of his work as a whole will be fully appreciated many years after the fact.
I'm just proud to be a fan in the here and now. And Little Big Town show was just OK to me. I was really, really not impressed by them or their music. Lindsey? Goes without saying how I feel. But their stuff just left me cold. What can I say...I like what I like. But they do seem like nice people. |
This is from a Houston Chronicle review of Carrie Underwood's show:
http://blogs.chron.com/handstamp/arc..._underwoo.html Underwood and her band were surprisingly fierce during a cover of Guns 'N' Roses' Paradise City, but her take on Fleetwood Mac's Go Your Own Way was marred by the reappearance of Little Big Town, whose opening set made Underwood seem like Loretta Lynn. (OK, not really, but you get the point.) It was like pouring processed cheese over a perfectly serviceable fast-food lunch. |
I thought Lindsey & Little Big Town were great together.
In some ways better than the "other band" he toured with on the Say You Will Tour. |

Don't you think the fact that he's using the song is a sign of respect for the man's music? I'm not a fan of Kid Rock but sampling is quite a fashionable thing to do at the minute and it can be done with artistic integrity or it can be bland and boring and offer nothing new.

songs. Their harmonies were great on the Fl. Mac songs. I remember thinking when I first watched the show that I wished Lindsey would tour with these guys. I think it challenged Lindsey a little more to be up there with them instead of Stevie, Mick and John. I like my Mac, but they've been running on cruise control for a long time. Except of course when Lindsey get's his chance to rock on songs like "Come". BTW, I thought Lindsey's solo tour rocked. I'd still pay $$$ to see the Mac. |

I love LBT btw, but I just think the Mac gets dissed too much in regards to the "cruise control" thing. I am looking forward to seeing them for the first time. I saw both Stevie and Lindsey this past year and Lindsey did not (in my front frow opinion) exhibit that much more energy than Stevie. In fact, I was really surprised at observing his calm "zone" during one of his most rocking solos. I can see why people really love him - as I do - but because he's a player and adds a few jumps - which are really long stretches where he stands up straight and bounces back down - and flailing his arms over his guitar a bit (animated antics) - it appears he is rocking out more than the other members of the Mac. I think what causes this complaint is the Mac's set list - which I won't get into in this forum. The reason people don't mind LB or LBT doing the same songs is because it is a bit of a different interpretation which breathes new life into the status quo. To me it shows how good the music actually is because the audience still loves it. Also, I think the fact that LBT are huge Mac fans really came through that show. It certainly wasn't like throwing Taylor Swift and Def Leopard together.... |

Some Vids on MTV. I loved their collaboration.
BONES THE CHAIN |
Does anyone have a DVD copy of this show that they could send me. It would be much appreciated.
Matt:) |
Cool vid find, MacMan! I loved those! The Chain one reminded me of a party where me and some friends just sat round and sang that with me on guitar. Biggest difference was that our harmonies were way off!

MACMAN!
This Chainversion os soooo good! A lot better than their electric version in the broadcast! Thanks! |

But if you are going to see them for your first time you'll really enjoy it. Nothing compares to the first time you see them (or any favorite) in concert. Watching them on video makes it a little easier to pick them apart, especially after multiple viewings. But I doubt that will be the case in person. I wish everyone who's a fan would get to see them at least once. |

[Excerpt from Pensacola News Journal article] on LBT, December 10, 2010
Q: One of the groups that Little Big Town is often compared with is Fleetwood Mac, and there's an interesting parallel beyond any of the musical similarities — Fleetwood Mac famously included a married couple (John and Christine McVie), as does your group (Fairchild and Westbrook are married). In Fleetwood Mac's case, on a personal level, that didn't work out too well. How does having a married couple as a part of your group affect the band dynamic? A: Jimmy and Karen — it's much better now, because before, I think they took a long time to get together after they both separated from their previous relationships. There was a lot of tension, and that all went away after they got together. We're happy for them because we know they're happy together. It only brings us closer together, for some reason. We did a "CMT Crossroads" with Lindsey Buckingham (who with Stevie Nicks, made up Fleetwood Mac's other, unmarried couple) some years ago, and he said, "My suggestion is to limit it to one married couple." So we've stuck to that. We're all like brothers and sisters, in a way. I think (the group is) a very special friendship. All the experiences we've had together have bonded us together. We were all in other relationships when we started the group. Since then we've had two divorces, one breakup and Kim lost her husband. Now we're all remarried with kids, and it's been a great journey for us. I don't think we allow ourselves to get caught up in the petty things, because we've experienced so much life together. |
