Shippers input GOS?
I haven't really noticed in any shipper thoughts regarding GOS. Lets face it, there's a tiny one in all of us, its in the back of your head... is that line about SN? i digress...
Though K helped write Love Runs Deeper... is it possible the adjective "black" was an adjective she chose? Certainly a "broken home" could've meant something too? Nothing stands out. This is insightful, emotional work for LB, its just an oddity to get at least a jab or line in there somewhere. Then again, what real contact have they had since SYW ended? Sorry, I forgot about Right Place to Fade... that song aside... anything? Great Day? TPT? Treason? |
Well, let's just say it doesn't give shippers as much to work with as UTS did. But Great Day , DYMM and Love Runs Deeper.
Yeah Kristen, tell us what you wrote. Did you write the "she was out of tune" part? I'm reminded of the gal in some lyrics. Additionally, as I've stated before, I am also taking a few (parallel) lines for Christine, even if they weren't intended and even if she burned her bridges and couldn't come back if she crawled on her hands and knees all the way from Kent! I do wonder with Lindsey. We know he's written about both Mick and Stevie. I wonder if he would ever point out anything he might have written about John and Chris. Michele |
I really feel like the broken home in "Love Runs Deeper" refers to the Mac.

i LOVE that song i dont really care what/who it's about but that would make it even more appealing  Quote:
just remember Mama foresaw the future when she wrote GDW and her "pale shadow" line  |
Someone posted a video of LB talking about Love Runs Deeper. Here is the link:
http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=37426 I thought Lindsey said "I believe" my wife wrote the lyrics to the verses. "I believe"? Hmmm, he doesn't know for sure? Anyway, check out the video. Maybe I misunderstood something there. |

The shippers also tend to blindly hate Kristen (Buckingham, Lindsey's wife) and paint her as a succubus from hell. Now, while its fair to say that those who have actually met her (and have dealt with with her unpleasant/petulant behavior first hand), or have knowledge of her rather um, curious background, have found other legitimate reasons to question Lindsey's judgment, its rather ridiculous to think that Lindsey was somehow misguided. For what its worth, Kristen is exactly who Lindsey was looking/waiting for, and I'm sure they are quite happy together. I'll say that much. |

The rest of it I have to call you out on generalizing because "shippers" come in all shapes, sizes and forms and do not all agree on the relationship between SnL - past, present or future or all feel the same way about his wife(certainly not that she came from hell - how harsh)... Really, the best definition is "one who believes that Stevie and Lindsey are or should be together." |
^^^
I agree. Here is a post I made in the "Screwed @ Royce Hall 9/14/2008" thread in response to why K seemingly gets attacked: Quote:

Without getting politically shipper/non-shipper I will concur with some else who posted that Treason is pointedly written about/for Stevie. The "years ago I was low, why should I care" is telling because I think he's speaking of how he felt left behind emotionally and recognizes and has compassion for this person who's going through it now. "They said you weren't there" The choice of words are unconvincing to LB that the person is acutally not there with the use of "They said". He might see through the lie and also reconnect to his feelings about how they lost the ability to communicate with each other with all that was going on around them.
I also think the dominant theme of the song is about embracing your own death as a way to reconnect to the past; Behind garden walls I search for you Saw your face full of grace searching for me Sounds like afterlife fantasy and oh so well written. |

Course, I could also view the lyrics as a counterpart to Gate and Garden. Michele |

The line in Underground, "Did I sell my heart for the dreams in my head?" reminds me of Stevie and Lindsey. If he would have used "soul" instead of "heart", I wouldn't think that, but we all know that Lindsey thinks that joining FM contributed to their break up.

I am sorry, I am out-of-date with my lingo, what does shipper's influence mean? |
I was wondering about the song Treason if it was about Stevie, and if it is I wonder what the Treason was.

Actually, people usually do the opposite, they give up their dreams for their head (practical reasons) or their heart (love and family) rather than the other way around. That's what I think many of the songs on UTS (most notably CAD) were about. I try to think what love (heart) Lindsey had to give up for his dream of making avant garde music. But anyway, the line in the song makes you ask the question, "Have you any dreams to sell." Michele |
I am not a shipper, but how about Lindsey's "Did You Miss Me," answered by Stevie's TISL, "I Miss You," a song in which which Lindsey just happened to make an appearance. Coincidence?????

I for one don't think he's really writing about Stevie anymore. I could be way off. But knowing what his personal life seems to be like now, the songs don't come across as being about Miss Nicks.

like maybe, there was more than just linds and K contributing to that song if it was mainly Lindsey writing, dont you think he would know which lines HE penned? Quote:
this [non crazy-manic] shipper is still here ;) i havent posted on the BN board in years tho :o i miss all the conversations that y'all had over there and I don't hate K... i just don't like her & i dont get warm and fuzzy when i see them together she gives off the impression of being a bitch...sorry no, i don't know her and havent met her but that's the vibe i get when i watch her in the vids and see pics of her  |

the LnS saga would be a beautiful movie  |

Sometimes I hear lyrics that come from Stevie & Lindey that are the same. Like what is this "underground" stuff? What exactly is going "underground"? And what is Stevie's velvet underground in Gypsy? I thought that meant her home where she grew up. Is that what Lindsey means, too? "Parallel universe", I thought I heard this mentioned in one of Lindsey's songs. Doesn't Stevie mention this in on of her songs, too? Destiny Rules, maybe? Lee :) |

I'm not a shipper and really don't bother to interpret his lyrics far enough to know/care who they are about in the long run. I think Stevie's songs, in general , are a lot more interesting to interpret because of the many variety of metaphors she uses, whereas Lindsey kind of says similar things. Not to say they aren't beautiful, or that his songs are in any way inferior (bitch please, we all know how I feel about the man), but I just don't think he has the same lyrical prowess as the LADY and therefore, I sometimes could care less. :o
Does that make me a bad fan? One thing: I like Kristen. Even if she may come off as a bitchandthensome at times she has done nothing to me personally, and for some reason he's been so eff'n prolific since he hooked up with her that she must have done something right. Plus, the kids are gorgeous and I like her camera. However, I absolutely can't stand how weird Lindsey is in interviews when it comes to discussing his wife + kids. More often than not he will use the exact same phrase verbatim and it's kind of annoying. But then he does that quite a lot and I wonder if he intentionally means to sound so pretentiously cerebral or if he actually seriously talks like that. I love him. Think he's a genius. But in interview settings I can't take him. Sorry, totally random. Shippers, please, continue...:wavey: |

Jeez Nico, I had to look twice and make sure I didn't write that post. Ditto and then some from this gal. ...I'd only add that I absolutely love when Linds does throw some great lines in songs like "everyone's peace lives side by side with their war." I don't expect them and cherish them even more. |

In fact, the way he describes Big Love as saying "looking out for love" doesn't mean searching for it, but can also mean guarding and defending against it, I think that's a version of the "underground" concept too, as it relates to the music industry, love, and life in general. Take your feelings off the table. Keep them to yourself, if they're not going to be appreciated. Michele Michele |
