This item has been discontinued by the manufacturer.

I bought that release but I didn't get en email from Amazon yet , that my order wont be shipping. :mad:

If it was a limited edition item, that may explain why it was discontinued.

On a related topic, I laugh when vinyl releases use better master tapes than a compact disc version of the same release.

I checked in the store yesterday and the Sku# was listed in our RSS system...its just that no one in Florida was getting it...Sooo...I guess we either don't carry it, or it was never going to be released.

I called Virgin. The guy said that they have not received the vinyl yet.

I'm trying to be hopeful. "Discontinued" means that it did exist and continue once, right? It's not like no vinyl went out at all. It's not like that idea was completely abolished. There were some and not they are "discontinued". Well, that's my interpretation and I'm sticking to it.:laugh:

i called my record place in frederick maryland and they said they were getting two copies in for tuesday. looks like id better call them back and double check.

I noticed that Amazon was out, but it says that there is one for sale from a person for $59.00. That means it does exist. Here are some sites that you can still purchase it from at normal price.

UPDATE: I called Amazon at 4 am. lol. They said they haven't received any copies of the album on vinyl.

Odd, I haven't gotten an email from Amazon yet. Maybe I will get lucky.

MINE JUST CAME!!!! It was totally destroyed in shipping. At least the album cover. I'm hoping everything else is fine. Amazon should be ashamed not having proper packaging for vinyl.

Uh-oh...mine is scheduled to be delivered today also. I hope it's not damaged!

Amazon is usually very careful, putting items in boxes 5 times their size and using lots of bubble wrap. That's a shame that yours was damage. Mine is supposed to have shipped 2.

Now I wish that I had ordered more than 1.

UPS just delivered mine! It was in a big box that looks brand new. The top left hand corner of the vinyl is bent a little (Amazon packaged it in the plastic wrap too tight) but otherwise it's in great shape!

Now I need to go climb over and dig in boxes upon boxes in my storage unit to find my turn table...

I hope to have this vinyl, along with my B/N vinyl, autographed next month!

Mine is dented a bit on the corner too. It was barely taped closed as well. Sheesh, Amazon. :rolleyes:

Can't wait to sit and listen to the record! Although I probably won't get to until I get home from my trip

So are the contents the same as the cd booklet?

The CD you get is in one of those envelopes. Pfftt. I was hoping for the full on CD/liner notes, etc., but ah well.

As for the record, it has a one page paper inside with the lyrics and some of the CD photos, all the credits and thank yous.

Well, I haven't received mine yet but i did get the email that it has shipped. I'm kinda excited to listen. Hopefully it won't be damaged or I'm going to send it right back to those bitches.

I went to Virgin and bought 2 today!

The CD that comes with the vinyl claims to be sourced from the uncompressed vinyl master.

Has anyone who has the vinyl LP listened to the accompanying CD to compare the two different CD masters?

I assumed that it's the same as the CD that was released. Hvaen't yet listened to the CD.

Oooh! I didnt even know Virgin was still around. Best Buy didn't get the LP either. I've not seen the vinyl ANYWHERE!

I haven't opened it to hear the CD yet, but this is what the sticker on the vinyl says:

Hey, what does R.T.I mean here? Could T.I. mean the same thing that it means on his guitar picks that say L.B.T.I. ?

they're are the same release, however the vinyl doesnt have the limitations that the compact disc has, so the vinyl's uncompressed sound will SURPASS the compact version sonically (ie The MFSL vinyl releases of the Beatles official releases FAR surpass the compact disc in clairity and audio sonics).

One thing I can safely say about either format release of GOS, They will NOT be compressed to the point of ruin as is Metallica's "Death Magnetic" - fans have started a petition to have the album "re-remastered and re-mixed" since the regular compact disc version (Produced/Ruined by Rick Rubin) pales in comparison to the Guitar Hero III download version (Which was sourced from un-compressed/un-mastered masters).

Damn, I need to move out West - I could kill 2 birds with one stone:
Work as a Quality Control technician (Which I have a degree in) in a vinyl/record pressing plant (A + for a music ADDICT as myself)

Oh... i'm still confused. so is this cd different (i.e. uncompressed vs. produced?). . .
