Don't -F- with Stevie or her fans!
|
i have this clipping & love the story~

Definetly don't argue with stevie and her fans too I have seen stevie over 20 times since 1986 and including fleetwood mac shows as well . Back in 1989 when stevie played here in connecticut at lake compounce in bristol during the edge walk one of the venues security guys that was big and muscular was getting kinda rough with some of the fans never heard stevie swear until that night...lol after the edge walk she did swear and scolded the security guy about being rough with her fans and after she did that she apologized for the this venues security to the fans and it was this one security guy she was looking at and before the last song when she back out she said I am f#$@ watching you and went into the encore song. great show and I figured after that night I never though i would here stevie swear and say now i have....lol
and back in 2001 in hartford at the meadows music center during the trouble in shangria la tour after the edge walk she mentioned about now i have to be a mom and tell you not to push and shove people I dont want to see anyone getting hurt at all no swearing she did nicely this time but it was to the fans that were getting rough at the front of the stage to shake her hand or hand her some flowers or a gift. Yes Stevie does truely love her fans and don't mess with her or them...:blob1::wavey: |
I was at the Reno SYW show and Stevie was cursing at security too, but she was not at her mic when she did it. I was just reading her lips. She had started to walk off the stage and then when she got to the side where security was, she let them have it.
Actually, I was reading her lips when she was talking to Lindsey and telling him to sing, because she couldn't do it. Very lovely show altogether, because it really rocked until you got to Don't Stop. Then, despite the uproar, Goodbye Baby was quite touching. Michele |
:lol:i love when stevie curses:thumbsup:~

I was at the Radio City show the night of said incident, it was wild as I was down front in the 5th row for both nights. Actually about 2 years ago I was at a bar here on Long Island wearing a Stevie Nicks t-shirt when this woman came up to me and started to tell me how she was a big fan and we traded stories. She proceeded to ask me if I heard of the Radio City incident and I told her yes and that I was there. Turns out she was the girl who told Stevie about the bracelet and subsequently had it taken from her. She said the girl gave it back to her after being yelled at by Stevie. A friend of mine was there and she knows this woman and she said she believed her because she is really nice and down to earth and all that.

AWESOME article!!!
Thanks for sharing!! |
That's another thing I love about Stevie. I think she's a very principled person. She believes in what's right, does the right thing. Very passive in nature, but cross the line baby, and watch out! I'm like that too. Easy going, but when you push it too far, I'm going to fight tooth and nail!!

One of the FM concerts I went to about 4 years ago, in Chargrin Falls, Ohio, someone within the first few rows, was smoking pot, and Stevie asked them, "Please stop smoking, it's drifting up here on stage and it's really bothering me." Yay for Stevie!

Cool article. I bet that thief felt really bad the rest of the night.

Yes, but now that she's taking better care of her voice maybe she thinks it impacts her singing. Didn't Cory say something the smoke wafting being a nuisance when people were smoking cigarettes during the concert? Michele |

I have a cassette tape of that show, which I'm going to try to upload into my computer to burn to CD soon. Stevie told the security guy, "You f@#k with my people, I'm gonna get real f@#kin' angry." It was a shock to hear it the first time. I thought it was awesome that she defended a fan so vigorously from the people who were being paid to protect her. She always has been appreciative of us. Back in the day, you would never hear her swear either on stage or in print or TV interviews, but now she does it all the time. It makes me laugh because she seems to have gotten to an age where she thinks, the hell with it, I'm going to call it like I see it. |

I was one of the "lucky" people in that audience. I still have memories of this show.I would consider this show "back in the day" though. After all it was 19 years ago. |

At the show in Clarkston, Michigan this summer, it was Fathers Day and a woman got on the stage to give Stevie a picture of her and Stevie's father together. Security flipped out and took her away or something like that, and Stevie scolded them for that into the mike. I remember her saying something like, "I just don't think that was very cool."
Even though it was a little weird for the woman to jump up onto the stage. She could have just gotten her attention from her seat, I think. It caused quite the stir for a minute there...it was right before Landslide, too. >:( |
When I read fan reviews of those nights when people get on stage, it's always funny to me that Stevie never seems to have that much reaction. She just keeps singing and doesn't seem to register fear.

Anyway, that article is awesome. This reinforces why I love Stevie in the first place. She if very honest and up front and everything. So cool to the people who were at the show in 1989. Anyone here from the show this past year when she was talking about "too high ****ing tech"? |

Any of you all familiar with a video that used to be on youtube from SYW tour. It was beautiful child, and some guys comes up on the stage and puts his arm on Stevie, and then security haul him off stage, and he almost knocks Lindsey down in the process.
Actually, it's still on youtube. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vigBfdMs2y4 |

After minutes of her importuning, Lindsey proceeded to sing Goodbye Baby himself. At which point, Stevester realized he had only a faint idea of what the heck the words were. The gesture was very sweet and Lindsey sang movingly, but he had lights floating in towers and glistening streams going every which way -- all of which must have been much more painful for Stevie than the fight in the audience had been. The poor dear must have been thinking something along the lines of "that *#?! Lindsey. What the **##@?! is he doing??" At which point, she pulled herself together and gamely completed the song. It was actually a tender show, I thought. Even with bleeding in the audience! I felt warm and happy about it for days, 'cause SnL were really sweet. I was going: aw shucks:). Michele |

It was a little tense because at one point Stevie stood at the edge of the stage and just stared daggers into the audience. She was bristling with anger and as she walked off, she was cursing at security, because they aggravated the problem, rather than bringing it to a quick close. So, she was tough at that point and it wasn't until they returned to the stage for the encore, that she was weepy. Michele |
I love these stories... What a lovely gesture to give the fan the bracelet in the first place, never mind to make sure she held onto it... :)
