Gift Of Screws also available in Vinyl with bonus CD in paper sleeve.
Lindsey's new album will be released in two versions.
1. Standard CD in digipak packaging. 2. Vinyl set featuring one 180g heavyweight black vinyl disc in a Stoughton jacket with bonus CD in paper sleeve. Of course you'll be able to download the album also. |
Awesome! I'm loving the return to vinyl trend that so many artists are doing now. :blob1:

Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham may be Warner’s next artist to embrace the dual compressed-and-uncompressed release strategy when his new solo album, “Gift of Screws,” drops Sept. 16. |

I also have CV on vinyl, hadn't opened it yet. Maybe one day! |
oh yummmy.
|
ok, this is just me whining aloud but I detest digi-paks! They bend and tear easily and scratch my CDs!!
I realize this may be a trivial complaint but I am one of those anal collectors----give me jewelcases or give me death!:( |
Are they saying there will be a less compressed version of the album? I will have to get that! I assume the CD with the vinyl will be just the normal CD, but wouldn't it be cool if they released the same master as the vinyl on the CD? (Then again, they might have meant something different by "compressed-and-uncompressed")
EDIT: Found this about some Tom Petty album released in the same fashion: Along with the double LP, fans get an audiophile CD made from theuncompressed master tapes used to make the vinyl. Unlike the CDreleased in late April, this is a new version that aims toreplicate the full dynamic audio range of the LP. I WANT THIS!! |

I'm somewhere in the 9,000-10,000 disc mark myself (Which includes the bootlegs/CDR/Official releases I own, I dont count the discs I inherited from my Mom and her huge vinyl collection nor my huge cassette collection) - and for the record I HATE digi-packs since they FUBAR my organization of the racks my discs hang in. |

I will avoid the vinyl edition, and purchase the regular disc (I hate digipacks - some do not fit correctly in my wall storage and I have to store 'em elsewhere)

Digipaks, those plastic trays that come surrounded by cardboard, aren't that bad. they don't scratch the CD. But Warner Bros. now markets the ecopak, a full cardboard cover, under the name digipak, too. And that packaging is really crap bacause the CD sits it a slit in the cardboard and gets scratches every time you take it out or put it in. I can't stack these with my other CDs, so I use my scanner and printer to design my own jewelcase. I last did that for Ry Cooder's "I Flathead", but refused to buy Sheryl Crow's "Detours" and the last Counting Crows album because of that and because they weren't as much of my liking as the Cooder record. Warner Bros, please drop the cardboard covers and go for the Super Jewel Case instead. That is much more stable than the standard jewelcase even! |

I hate ecopacks too...
Quote:
Ecopacks arent a great idea IMHO, Ozzy Osbourne released the "Black Rain" disc in one, and it did not contain ANY lyrics/liner-notes/artwork whatsoever, the EXCUSE was to save the public money on the release by "helping the environment" by reducing the paper usage for the said release - if one wanted the liner-notes/etc. they could download 'em off his website. About 3 months after the initial release of the "Black Rain" album, It was released a second time in a regular jewel-case format, and about 6 months after that is was re-released yet again in a 2 disc jewel case...Only GREEN thing about that release was how to make a STUPID public purchase multiple copies of the same release, so the only thoughts of GREEN were how to make more of it from fans who bought all 3 copies! |
Quote:
That's a lot of discs! And on the multi-disc releases, you're right..... green is green ($). |

Music collecting is my hobby...

My Uncle Dennis (A decorated Vietnam vet) collects guns (Owns his own armory and close to 600 guns, Yeah, I repeat, 600 guns!!!) My bro Geary buys CD's for me when he sees 'em at flea markets/Garage sales - So I have more on the way. I'm currently finishing off transferring my audio cassettes to CDR - Started with around 900 cassettes, down to 130 and I will be finished with that task...Then it's back to the stores for more purchases (Believe it or not, even with a tumor in my head I can EASILY recognize a song within 5 seconds of it's start - It puzzles and amazes people.) |
Well I finally ordered Lindsey's new album.
Of Course I had to have both versions, CD and Vinyl w/CD! How many bonus points do you get if you buy both? |
